And so it begins. Gameweek 13 gains momentum with an early kick-off at Turf Moor as Manchester City drop in on Burnley.

The build-up to this match was laced with uncertainty and the teamsheets reflect that, although perhaps not in the way we envisaged.

Sergio Aguero starts for City but Pep Guardiola builds his notoriety among Fantasy Football managers by leaving Kevin De Bruyne on his bench and omitting both Ilkay Gundogan and John Stones from the squad. Yaya Toure’s start in midfield was at least expected and, with David Silva also benched, the Ivorian looks set to be deployed in the number ten role.

Burnley also spring an unpleasant surprise with their selection, as the “essential” Tom Heaton misses out with a calf injury. Veteran Paul Robinson starts between the sticks and is charged with repelling Aguero and the City attack.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A question...

My ML rival has Kingsley as 2nd sub and Amat as 3rd sub.

He has Stones who won't play and 3 at the back. If Kingsley doesn't play will Amat be his automatic sub or will it automatically be Kingsley (even if Kingsley doesn't play) ?

Amat will just sub for Kingsley if he don't play. I personally think they'll both start, Kinsgley seems to play at home. Amat will almost certainly start unless injured.

Burnley are quite good at Turf Moor. Beat Liverpool and Everton. Taking points of City atm. Arsenal got very, very lucky too.

    1. Mull
      • 14 Years
      9 years, 7 months ago

I'd disregard the Liverpool game when rating Burnley. It was something like 30 shots to 2 and in any other game they'd have lost comfortably.

      1. Davido989
        • 15 Years
        9 years, 7 months ago

But they won, which is the main thing. Doesn't really matter how you win when you're restricted in most areas like Burnley are.

but they are...shots conceded doesn't tell you everything, you need to assess how good the chances were. at the end of the day their home record is fantastic.

I have no idea what to do with Aguero. Is a £5-£6m and Aguero better than two £9-£10m players? You do get the consistent captain pick with Aguero but if you have 4/5 good options rotating how hard can it be to pick one every week that does as well?

If there's a Mahrez type player who is consistently good at that price then you go for the Aguero option. There's no one like that this year which makes this much harder.

Guaranteed that he will finish in the top 2 goal scorers at the end of the season, it's a tricky one and there is no right or wrong answer, it's the Captaincy option of Sergio that sways it for me. I generally don't feel that confident sticking the armband on anyone else tbh. With Aguero I do. I was going to keep this week but looking to shift to Kane so I could make quite a few changes elsewhere. Still not 100% sure I want to go ahead now especially if he gets another in the 2nd half.

Even as an Aguero owner he needs a brace or two fairly regularly to be worth his price.

Two blanks, then a single goal followed by two blanks is not worth 13m+

Plus he is allergic to assists.

Those that have sold him are not in that much trouble if they heavily strengthen elsewhere with the money

Him to stay fit and KDB and Stones to come on for a 2 minute cameos.

Could possibly be a little tough for Stones as uh he isn't on the bench pal

Ha ha. He said what he wanted, not was is possible. My ML rival has Stones, Gundogan and KDB which is a bit unlucky.

You know whats funny?? People keep talking about getting rid of aguero and how much money they'll save but they wont even touch that money just to get aguero back in after he scores a hypothetical (yet realistic) hat trick. Furthermore, they dont put their money into actually getting players with the money saved so this whole "I'll have enough money for a good midfield" is rubbish.

Just maximise your points and 9 goals in 11 starts for aguero is the definition of getting your money's worth. All 13m of it.

There's a massive element of trying to be too clever.

I sold him yesterday but only because I didn't like that injury question. He has tried my patience this season. Haven't been able to build the team I wanted due to investing in him. For that money he needs to be scoring high on a day like today. This second half should be interesting

Marney --> Fletcher was my transfer this week. Didn't fancy Burnley/Marney against City.

Marney who hasn't scored in 2 and half years.

Marney who has been warming my bench all season but I would have had to start because Allen injury.

    'Sigh'

He's injured now so you'd have probably sold anyway.

Don't be wasting transfers on your 4.5 mid, especially if they are fit and playing.

Defenders in that price bracket are hard. It's either Chelsea or cheapies for me.

I don't know why I haven't sold him in 13 gameweeks... Every time I manage to convince myself that next time he's due a clean sheet!

Yeah, I think it's time to ship him for a hit. City just can't keep a clean anyway.

I think Coutinho needs a rest tonight. Come on Klopp. Do the right thing.
