And so the power shifts once again.

I can barely remember witnessing such upheaval: where we’ve had to re-consider where our big-money is spent and switch our sights, not only due to form, but simply availability.

We started the season coveting Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Then Diego Costa emerged, followed swiftly by Eden Hazard as Chelsea blossomed. Now Harry Kane, with seven goals in five, becomes a priority.

While these players battle for recognition in our squads, Sergio Aguero was considered by most as a mainstay: a factor that required little consideration.

That theory wavered back in Gameweek 3 but today’s events may have changed it for good.

Aguero had not served a suspension until this season. Now he is set to miss at least seven weeks of this campaign before the turn of the year. Few, if any, could have anticipated that.

Hours after the bombshell at the Etihad, Alexis Sanchez then provided his own explosion.

We always knew the dangers: deployed up front by Arsene Wenger, he has always been part of the heavy-hitter debate.

But, with heads turned by Chelsea’s faultless form and the promise from Eden Hazard, some, including this Fantasy manager, chose to lose Sanchez’ special talent, keeping Aguero locked into our attacks.

Now, with the City striker being ejected from squads throughout the land, the sacrifices required to gain the likes of Hazard, Costa and Marcos Alonso – all so alluring with Chelsea’s form and fixtures – no longer apply.

When I showed Sanchez the exit ahead of Gameweek 12, opting to sell Aguero was something I pondered, but quickly dismissed.

Today’s events punished that particular decision. They also force us re-examine the established thinking.

We are so set on Aguero. His place is so cemented in Fantasy Football folkore, the prospect of progressing through a season, or even a period of Gameweeks without him almost seems unthinkable.

But while a saintly Costa is scoring goals and avoiding the booking that will see him serve a one-match ban, we’ve seen Aguero inexplicably become an unreliable hothead.

We can’t begin to fathom how those roles have been reversed. We can only react to what we’ve now been dealt.

While those without Sanchez are denied the convenience of carrying out a like-for-like swap for Aguero, even with the cost of an additional transfer, it will likely prove a popular route.

Acquiring Sanchez no longer comes packaged with such sacrifice now that Aguero is out of the equation, his millions available to us.

In Gameweek 4 we formed plans to sell a suspended Aguero and bring him back two weeks later. This time around the landscape may have changed.

As of today, it seems likely that few will be forgoing Sanchez for Aguero should that decision ever arise again.

Although it’s almost folly to make such predictions in a season that refuses to allow us to settle in our thinking.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

he looked fine running to get involved in the fracas at the end of the game. it's just such a boring transfer, we'll be looking at 80% owned next week methinks

I'm going to get Costa for Aguero as I think it was probably precautionary. Also can wait another week to get Kane and will need the extra transfer to get a forward line of Costa, Kane, Austin.

Thought hard on Iheanacho too, but just can't risk him not playing. So did Kane and Costa in.

it's hard for me to let go of Phillips after his recent form, but have to do it. Already own Kane and Costa and Iheanacho will be my third striker.

      More than Advice, it's opinion.
Fpl is not a real life situation from which people can advice you on based on their past experience saying this is how it will exactly work out.
there are tons of variables in this game which change week to week .
All advice is at best a very calculated guess in a game where you gamble on players to score goals and assists, plus this season has been crazy.

Amazing, but I'm still not sold on getting Sanchez. Arsenal's form is not convincing, and the next few fixtures are far from optimal.

Only thing that really bothers me is that he may leap to a price beyond my reach if I don't get him now. And he's still likely to get involved in a good part of the goals Arsenal manages to get, even if that wouldn't be many.

I think it is hard to continue to resist having an elite player who has scored around 200 points before, who is clearly hot, and who is the highest scoring player in the game. I sold Alexis for Hazard, foolishly, when Hazard got really hot, but I cannot see the risk/reward scenario of continuing to go without Alexis. Too good, too hot, on a strong team. He is not guaranteed to be tops, but like Aguero of years past, he is approaching that kind of form and essential status.

I think he plays with 1 forward, and he is the closest in terms of pace / trickery - poor man's Aguero. So unless drastic change in tactics he should get his chance. It is of course a big risk with Nolito / KDB / Sterling there but not as big as if Gabriel Jesus (who doesn't join until January) was around. I think he will give him a shot as it's a like for like in their system. Worst case at 6.6m he misses out and you have a bench player come on and move him out for a similarly priced player like Origi, etc.

As a non Kun owner, I am actually disappointed about the straight red. Now it will of course be template to have no Kun, I was thinking he would likely be rested during the Xmas schedule as Pep clearly rotates all the time. Have now managed to fit in Sanchez, Haz, Eriksen, Walcott, Kane and Ibra in my team due to the no Kun savings.

The excitement point is a big one....after such an interesting season so far... a template really seems to be forming.

Very frustrating day. Even my post ends up on bottom of the page.

Guys, do you think this is worth it?

    Ibra ➡ Costa
    Mane ➡ Siggy
    Walcott ➡ Sanchez

Have exact funds to do these moves so tomorrow when I wake up I can't do this. I own Firmino too. (not sure it matters)

If Mane and Ibra deliver tomorrow and Costa turns out to be injured, this may seem a little foolish

    Grant Pickford
    Kosc Lovren Holebas Smith Amat
    Sanchez Eriksen Firmino Allen Capoue
    Aguero Defoe Austin

1FT with 1.5 ITB, was thinking something along the lines of aguero to costa? Is that my best move? Open to all suggestions, thanks lads!

Just got back from the game. The most surreal experience I've ever felt at a game, I own Sanchez but my mate Captained him. We sit right next to the away fans, when the hatrick goal went in, my mate was almost smiling and celebrating too, almost. Aside from that, safe to bring in Costa tonight?

Are you doing Kun to Costa over Kane, or dyou already own him?

Got Kane. It's either Costa or Ibra, 99.9% set on Costa

Thinking of doing Lukaku, Walcott & Morgan to Costa, Hazard & Adam Smith for -8. The Morgan/Smith transfer needs to be included to give me the exact funds.

Worth it? Gives me what's likely to be the template midfield and frontline now Aguero's out of the picture.

Andy Carroll completed 3 passes vs. Arsenal; all 3 were from kick-offs.

How much do you think Aguero will drop before he's available?

There will be nobody left to sell him in the last couple of weeks, so probably just 0.3, 0.4 at the very max.
