Two of the lowest scoring teams clash at the Riverside Stadium to create a predictable outcome, as a single set-piece delivery and far post header decide matters. Here’s the Stock Check from Gameweek 14’s final encounter.

On the Rise

Gaston Ramirez
Always the most likely member of Middlesbrough’s midfield to emerge as a potential Fantasy asset, the Uruguayan was their star performer on the night and proved a worthy matchwinner.

Ramirez has now provided two goals and an assist in his last four starts, although ‘Boro’s continued lack of cutting edge remains a major obstacle.

Aitor Karanka’s men have scored just 13 goals in their 14 Premier League matches and will likely continue to rely on defensive stability to earn them points.

While that’s the case, Ramirez seems destined to provide a short-term differential and little more. To compound matters, he appeared to suffer a knock to his foot which saw him withdrawn in the dying stages.

The Middlesbrough Defence
Far more likely to provide with an asset for the remainder of the season, Karanka’s back five earned a fourth clean sheet of the season this evening, albeit against a largely unambitious and impotent Hull City attack.

With George Friend sidelined, skipper Ben Gibson has proved the most popular target in the ‘Boro backline and he justified that tonight by claiming two bonus points taking him to 53 overall. Surprisingly, that’s just 8 points shy of Kyle Walker, the top-ranked Fantasy Premier League defender.

With Southampton and Liverpool up next, we can perhaps wait to invest in Karanka’s rearguard. However, from Gameweek 17, the fixtures fall nicely.

Should Friend, now priced at just 4.4, be fit and available at that point, he could prove to be a key acquisition.

In Decline

Robert Snodgrass
A third consecutive Gameweek without returns has seen the Scot fade as a fourth midfield option.

So integral to Hull City’s attacking potential via his dead-ball delivery, Snodgrass has been unable to shine as others around him struggle.

With just a single goal in their last three and with Hull’s fixture list stiffening over the festive spell, Snodgrass is being swallowed up by alternative midfield options in and around his price point.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Who to make way for Kane after GW 15? Austin or Siggy?

    (1) Koscielny + Austin to Vert + Kane
    (2) Siggy + Anichebe to De Roon + Kane

    (1) or (2)? Thanks!

    I seem to be in the unusual posistion on here at looking at banking a transfer. Can you see a transfer that I could make? Or would you bank it?

    Pickford
    Walker - Holebas - Taylor
    Sanchez - KDB - Hazard - Firmino
    Kane - Defoe - Austin

    Grant - Capoue - Brunt - Amat

          Ya but Watford are just in a shambles imo. Also, I have value in Holebas, if he drops I lose SV so I cashed in. He's around -5% but could easily drop over the coming weeks.

    Midfield / Attack options!!!

    Current Stock:

    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Mane Zaha (May change him to siggy next week)

    Kane Benteke (ANICHEBE)

    I'm looking at a couple options over the next 1/2 weeks with hits (but I've taken a few hits so far!)

    Either a straight

    (A) Zaha to Siggy swap (This was my initial thought)

    The two alternatives are:

    (B) Anichebe to Iheanacho (If he starts)
    Or
    (C) Firmino to Can and Zaha to KDB (This will allow me to have a Killer Mid) Sanchez Hazard Mane KDB Zaha.

    Let me know your thoughts lads! A B or C!

        I won't be making the transfer this week. As I did Aguero to Kane this week.

        2.1 itb and squad value is 101.6.

        Swans fixtures are good, so Zaha to Siggy looks good (I brought Zaha in last week as was going to replace Benteke but he's come to life again)

        When he was sitting on the ground, an opposition player came up to me to check on him, and I'm sure he said "I'm fine" or something similar.

          When it all kicked off after Kun red he gets out his seat and runs over.

          Not even Costa would do that for a fight, if he had a hamstring or groin injury!

    1FT, 2.3 itb

    Pickford, Heaton
    Evans, Pieters, Fuchs, Amat, Bellerin (inj)
    Firmino, Hazard, Walcott, Allen, Bolasie (inj)
    Kane, Costa, Austin

    A. Bolasie->Siggy
    B. Change the Defense. (please suggest which)

    Finally, who is the best one for Captaincy??

    1. CloudSky
      • 9 Years

      Fuchs -> Alonso
      Bolasie -> Sigy

      Id probably do it both for a hit.

      For captaincy its between Firm, Haz and Costa. Id go Hazard out of that lot.

    Foster / Heaton
    Alonso Smith Holebas Amit Love
    Siggy Sanchez Hazard Firmino Capoue
    Kane Costa Austin

    Looking to downgrade Capoue and Foster to increase funds for defence

    Also considering selling Costa to Defoe to upgrade defence or mids

    Any ideas, could get stuck with a template team, been around 1 million mark for past 7 gws

      I dont think so. Got to get him in for his streaks and his gone cold now. Not to brightest of them fixtures too. Id say as for the diferentials in forwards line, Carroll could be worth the look if he can stay healthy more than 10 minutes. Origi and Nacho are the other two. Maybe Ibra also, not many of active teams have him.

    IF Firmino fails to score this weekend I'm worried his value will fall and may look to swap him out until Coutinho returns. Which option would you choose?

    A) Firmino to Erikson
    B) Firmino and Zaha to Llalana and Son

    Thanks

      A) cause Zaha has Hull this week.

        Thanks - sorry I meant after Hull. I'm leaning towards A though as means no hit and Erickson seems to be in good form - plus it's easier to get Firm back in a couple of games if things improve with Liverpool mid

    Sanchez sending me slightly mad here, do you think this is worth -8?

    Capoue ---> 4.3m
    Firmino ---> Sanchez

    Sanchez would have to outscore Firmino by 8 points this week to even break even on the move so seems rather silly doesn't it. But seems rather silly to not own him.

      I own Firmino & play this week
      Firmino to Eriksen gw16 for his 2 sweet fixtures
      Reassess gw18
      Also I could downgrade Firmino to afford a Spurs defender like Rose.
      I own Kane so my attack is covered for Spurs so I might go Rose.

    Heaton (Japu)
    Alonso Pieters Cedric (Kingsley Lenihan)
    Haz Alexis Firmino Siggy (Philips)
    Costa Kane Austin
    0.5itb
    Really need work with GK and DEF especially with Japu Kingsley & Lenihan

    A) Kingsley -> Francis
    B) Japu -> Pickford , Kingsley -> Barragan
    C) Heaton -> Valdes , Kingsley -> Nyom , Lenihan -> Friend

    Plan on next 2-3 weeks 🙂
