Two of the lowest scoring teams clash at the Riverside Stadium to create a predictable outcome, as a single set-piece delivery and far post header decide matters. Here’s the Stock Check from Gameweek 14’s final encounter.

On the Rise

Gaston Ramirez
Always the most likely member of Middlesbrough’s midfield to emerge as a potential Fantasy asset, the Uruguayan was their star performer on the night and proved a worthy matchwinner.

Ramirez has now provided two goals and an assist in his last four starts, although ‘Boro’s continued lack of cutting edge remains a major obstacle.

Aitor Karanka’s men have scored just 13 goals in their 14 Premier League matches and will likely continue to rely on defensive stability to earn them points.

While that’s the case, Ramirez seems destined to provide a short-term differential and little more. To compound matters, he appeared to suffer a knock to his foot which saw him withdrawn in the dying stages.

The Middlesbrough Defence
Far more likely to provide with an asset for the remainder of the season, Karanka’s back five earned a fourth clean sheet of the season this evening, albeit against a largely unambitious and impotent Hull City attack.

With George Friend sidelined, skipper Ben Gibson has proved the most popular target in the ‘Boro backline and he justified that tonight by claiming two bonus points taking him to 53 overall. Surprisingly, that’s just 8 points shy of Kyle Walker, the top-ranked Fantasy Premier League defender.

With Southampton and Liverpool up next, we can perhaps wait to invest in Karanka’s rearguard. However, from Gameweek 17, the fixtures fall nicely.

Should Friend, now priced at just 4.4, be fit and available at that point, he could prove to be a key acquisition.

In Decline

Robert Snodgrass
A third consecutive Gameweek without returns has seen the Scot fade as a fourth midfield option.

So integral to Hull City’s attacking potential via his dead-ball delivery, Snodgrass has been unable to shine as others around him struggle.

With just a single goal in their last three and with Hull’s fixture list stiffening over the festive spell, Snodgrass is being swallowed up by alternative midfield options in and around his price point.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just to clarify, this is what Conte actually said about Costa's 'injury'

Costa was substituted with five minutes left to play after receiving lengthy treatment on the pitch, but Conte insists he has no significant injury concerns about the Premier League's top scorer, adding: "He was very tired because he ran a lot, but I think -- I hope -- he can recover for the next game."

It would appear that Costa has learned to divert his excess energies away from earning cards, and towards artful time-wasting 😉

The way he got up from the bench and ran to the pitch as soon as he heard the word "bundle" says to me he's not injured. 😉

Slaven Bilic is targeting Asmir Begovic on loan for West Ham after losing faith in Adrian and Darren Randolph (Mail)

Mats Hummels believes Henrikh Mkhitaryan will shine for Man Utd if given freedom to express himself (Express)

Swansea manager Bob Bradley is under pressure already as the club launch a review following the dreadful run of results (Telegraph)

      Nonsense.

      Speculative.

      Stupid.

West Ham's biggest issue is not in goal, Randolph couldn't do much about any of the goals (maybe Sanchez' first), dropped Adrian and rightly so but he'll be trying to get his place back.

    A. Costa (vs West Brom)
    B. Hazard (vs West Brom)

None of them are the best, I'm struggling big time this week.

West Brom are no mugs this season but perhaps will be more open than they have been before, Costa for consistency, Hazard as the riskier option.

Firmino, watching him vs Bournemouth he never looked like getting involved, Mane on the other hand... I also own Firm and he hasn't given me enough to go off to give him the armband, having said that I'll be at Anfield on Sunday to see him score 4 past us.

Walcott, 1 shot in 4 games - Not for me. Stoke are Arsenal's bogey team also.

Austin - Meh, hit and miss and not thought about it too much but Middlesborough play to not concede. Risky but a good option.

      Ever the optimist...

Any Mane owners. The armband has to be on him, surprised he's not further up the captain poll. It'll be interesting to see the Form, Fixtures and bookies article this week but my money is on him being in the top 3.

West Ham have conceded 9 goals in their past two games. Having said that we were without Cresswell for the majority of the two, big player for us and if he's back (Also a scouser) then we're a better team. Same can be said of Antonio.

    2. The Overthinker
      • 9 Years

Mane is definitely the best choice. The way Sanchez ripped West ham from the right side, I don't even have 1% doubt about why mane can't do it this week.
Sadly I don't have mane , but have firmino. Last match he wasn't involved at all in the match, so not captaining him. Maybe lallana starting will help him

        Amat - SUN
        Holebas - EVE

Even just typing that out makes me think it's fine to bench Brunt this week of all weeks.

I think of it this way, Brunt is basically a midfielder/ winger with a chance of a CS. Even with how good Chelsea are defensively and going forward, I'd take my chances on him.

Im considering Mane before both. If not 100%, I think Im still going for Alexis. Cant beat that form. Wba are not playing "Pulis like" this year so Haz cant be a bad choice imo.

Brunt is on my bench ATM, Holebas and Amat both starting.

I will probably end up benching Amat, Swansea are shambolic defensively and Sunderland have been scoring, cant see them keeping a CS.

Also Brunt is on set pieces so could get an assist.

Yup, set pieces has me thinking.

I have Alonso v WBA (h) and Lovren v West Ham (h) so only one spot for Holebas/Amat/Brunt.

So many good options this week. If I had Hazard he'd sneak it above Sanchez.

No, Holebas the best option there.

I actually have Haz above Alexis this week. I'd be happy capping any of my front 7 though, even Kane given man u have big match in Ukraine on Thurs
