His biggest tally of the season. A third successive double-figure total. Sixty-eight points in his last seven Gameweek starts.

We can’t deny the numbers – Zlatan Ibrahimovic is delivering and refusing to leave the door ajar for a cast of competitors up front.

Both Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero are now back from the cold and, while we will doubtless begin measuring up for the surgery to install one of that pair alongside the Swede, it currently seems unthinkable to drop the Manchester United striker.

Having scored or assisted 16 of 26 goals scored while he’s been on the pitch, Ibrahimovic has been involved in 61% of United’s goals. While Jose Mourinho’s men have yet to hit the heights to suggest that they are a true attacking force, that’s a difficult statistic to ignore.

Zlatan’s fixtures remain strong and, seemingly classed as “undroppable” by Mourinho; there appears little or no counter argument. Ibrahimovic increased by 0.3 in price ahead of today’s deadline and, again, he’s already ranked second only to Costa for transfers, with another hike looming.

If we wish to opt for two heavyweights in our forward lines, our decision currently appears to create a head-to-head between Costa and Aguero: two strikers who present two very different scenarios.

Chelsea are undoubtedly pacesetters supreme. Their current form and confidence cannot be questioned and, while the fixture list remains demanding, it would be brave to underestimate Antonio Conte’s side against any opposition.

Manchester City’s fixtures are also testing, but they will go to Anfield on New Year’s Eve still in stuttering form.

The Gameweek 17 victory over Arsenal looked priceless in re-establishing their status as title challengers but the performance in tonight’s 3-0 win at Hull City was, for long periods, still unconvincing.

Aguero may be able to circumvent any malaise and doubts – arguably, he could flick the switch and re-invigorate City’s season.

However, at 12.8, he costs a princely sum which would surely restrict flexibility in midfield or defence. In many ways, Aguero now represents a gamble.

That seems an unthinkable and unlikely sentence to write on these pages. The Argentine has, for so long, been a mainstay of the Fantasy Football Scout community and an asset that requires little thought or research. But that is surely no longer the case.

Having missed seven matches of the season through ill-discipline and, with the jury still out on Pep Guardiola’s side, the choice between Costa and Aguero is not straightforward and even appears weighted in the Chelsea man’s favour.

Currently 2.1 cheaper than Aguero, the Spaniard has shown unerring consistency and, crucially, could allow us to retain significant funds in midfield, or even opt for a Blues pairing in defence.

But, as we’ve seen, the landscape can shift so quickly. With just a matter of days before Gameweek 19, our opinions and plans have to remain flexible.

Midfield assets like Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez, in particular, are under constant pressure to perform now that Aguero is back in the game.

Hazard’s spot-kick against Bournemouth may have kept talk of an exodus subdued for now, although two goals in six Gameweek starts is still not enough to justify his selection now that Costa has returned to the equation. We need more from Hazard against Stoke City.

As for Sanchez, he hit a post and fired in more attempts than any other player in Monday’s matches but has now produced just a single goal since his heralded hat-trick at the London Stadium back in Gameweek 14.

Arsenal still appear to be struggling at the Emirates without Santi Cazorla in the double pivot. That needs to change for the visit of Big Sam’s Crystal Palace: we perhaps need to see Sanchez back in the striker’s role. We certainly need him back in the points to stave off any talk of exit plans.

Again, such a knee-jerk reaction seems unthinkable when we look back on the scramble for the Chilean’s services only last month.

But that’s typical of this campaign and, for tonight at least, the only current certainty appears to be relentlessly providing and scoring goals for Manchester United.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Aye. Having a VPN is better for you, but only in a tin foil hat sort of way if you want to make sure nothing is tracking your web activity. It's not important for general internet use.

I really wouldn't worry about it.

The only time I use one is when I want to watch something like Netflix, but I want to pretend I'm in America so I get the US content.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. Basically a network to connect you privately (secures your information) to a certain server/subnetwork example ffs server.

No. You'd only need it to either mask where you are actually from or to access site from another country i.e people sometimes use VPNs to trick Netflix into thinking they're from USA

If someone is telling you, you need a VPN there's a high chance it's dodgy

It's end-to-end encryption to another endpoint.

Prevents ISPs and governments looking at your traffic (a VERY good thing), stops ISPs traffic-shaping you, etc.

Can also be used to circumvent geo-blocked content (e.g. pretend you're American so you can watch US Netflix rather than UK Netflix)

Check out humble bumble, there's a security one at the minute that includes 1-year subscription to some VPN service for not a lot of money

Diego Costa has been outstanding at the point of the Stamford Bridge club's attack, leading the race for the golden boot with 13 goals. But what if he is not able to sustain his current productivity?
During his final season with Atletico Madrid, Costa bagged 20 La Liga goals before Christmas, and registered only seven during the second half of the campaign. The following season, his first with Chelsea, the Brazil-born Spain international racked up 17 strikes by 17 January but only found the net three times in the final three months of the title-winning campaign.
Costa has been responsible for 37% of Chelsea's Premier League goals this term. If he were to suffer the kind of drop-off that he endured in 2013-14 and 2014-15, the Blues could come unstuck.

Because Zlatan is so hot these past handful of GW's, and will probably result in many more transfers in after his nice points haul this week, I assume transfers in of most other forwards will suffer this GW.

Having said that, do you all feel that Kun will see one more points drop, to 12.7, before the next GW, or do you feel his net transfers will start creeping up these next 6 days? I'd love to pick up Aguero at 12.7 if the feeling is that he'll drop one ore time - Especially with so much attention being paid to Zlatan.

I am not keen on getting in Aguero immediately . Instead looking to get do

          Lovren + Hazard + Nacho -> KDB + Ake + 3rd striker.

          Any suggestions with this team?

Anyone for an Ars defender over Che for the next 6? and why is Kosc going down in price over the other Ars defenders going up?

Toying with downgrading Pieter/cedric and Llorente for ARS/Che defender + Anichibe/Diomande/Stuani. any thoughts?

Kosc was basically on 100% before today. Presume a lot of people are switching to Chelsea.

The big call we need to make next week:

Benteke or Rondon for their amazing fixtures?

In GW17 last year I'd just gotten my 8th red arrow in 10 game weeks and fallen from 36k to 943k over those 10 weeks

Ended up getting just inside the top 100k be season end.

No matter how difficult this season feels there's always hope

50K should be the minimum even in a terrible season.

Exactly - if you can fall 900k in 19 weeks then you can rise by 900k in the next 19 weeks

Halfway stage must always be positive 🙂

Not being cheeky but I'd still be disappointed in that finish. I would be looking at top20k minimum.

Not saying it's a good finish in general but still climbed quite a bit from an awful position

Don't know about that tbh as we still had the advantage of knowing when to use the chips like wildcard and tc and bb in dgw so big leaps were going to be made. I would say top20k would have been a good finish from that position and top10k would have been acheiveable. Finishing 100k with the advantage we had over the casuals is not a big a climb as it seems.

Xmas day last year was ranked around 600k.
Boxing day 80+ pts - huge green arrow - end of Jan up to around 250k and ended season 6k. Plus completely messed my chips up around the DGWs.
            Today I've jumped over 300k to 660k.

People don't seem to be looking at the points spread.
Gaps up to top 100k are basically not that big.
according to gargatron yesterday at 985k OR I was only "92" pts off top 100k.

Mids are weak after Alexis and Eden. Something had to sacrificed. Could be a great lineup.

I might be knocked out of the fpl cup by a ghost team..

          Current Points:

          Me : 59 points + Van Dijk

Ghost team: 55 points + Lallana, Henderson and Whelan

I took a 4 point hit to get Benteke in.

          He gets -1.

Have I got any chance of qualifying the next round?

This season is going really well, inside top 1500. Any suggestions for next week? 1FT, 0.1ITB

          Heaton
          Alonso - Clyne - Evans - Holebas - B. Smith
Hazard - Sanchez - Walcott - Sigurdsson - De Roon
          Ibrahimovic - Lukaku - Origi

Clyne out is what I'm thinking, with mixed fixtures coming up (as long as Walcott is fit and Origi keeps his place).

Wow that rank. Yeah Clyne out or just save in order to assess Costa and Kun.
