Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

    I am keeping Walker, bought him at 5.5, have the funds to go Kane to Aguero , no hit.

    Not happy about it but did Pickford to Grant for free. Although he has 5 clean sheets I was quiet happy with Pickford tbh.
    And I wanted to save ft this wk.

    Had a catastrophic GW - no Ibra, 48 points and surrounded by Ibra captainers. Sunk from first to third in my mini league. Horrifying.

    I can't bring in Ibra this Gameweek, or possibly even long term. So I'm considering going with Pogba. Anyone else flirting with this idea? His underlying stats are quite impressive and he'd represent a United-based differential over Ibra.

        But Pogba is a guaranteed starter - it seems Mourinho is angling to build the team around him. Mhki is much less nailed.

          The only reason mkhi didnt feature against west brom was because of injury... I think hes absolutely nailed on but obviously pogba will never miss a game.... its just Mkhi is an absolute assist king. Nothing much in it but id go for Mhki.

      Ibra screwed me too. Think I'm the only one in all my leagues without him!! Looked like the damage wasn't going to be too great until he got a late gift from Sunderland for the goal and a late gift from the officials for that assist.

      Not 100% convinced by Pog. This also sounds like trying to cover Ibra, when other options at Pog's price are probably better.

        I hold my hands up, it is an attempt to cover Ibra. But who is better at Pog's price? I already have Eriksen, Sanchez, Firmino and Sigurdson. Pogba is nailed and some of his stats indicate that he might be about to deliver more attacking returns.

        This time next week I'll be on here crying about the failed Pogba experiment.

    Arsenal has great fixtures and Bellerin has attacking threat.
    Cedric may be rotated over the next few fixtures although Southampton defence looks decent.
    Kane's form is poor although Spurs will face Watford next.

      I think it's a decent enough team, but you could do with a Chelsea defender - ideally Alonso, and probably at the expense of Lovren. Which means downgrading elsewhere - I'd consider ditching Defoe for someone like Rondon.
