Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

      Dramatic FPL match WR. Spurs were a bit kak in the first half....played like Arsenal when they start fannying about around the penalty area. They gave themselves a lot more space in the second half.

        Alli vs Watford is too tempting to pass on though, especially having scored 3 in his last 2 games. I would be begrudgingly letting go of Hazard with one eye on the Spurs game next if I did it. Hazard could explode at any time though :/ I'm torn.

        Agree that Haz vs Stoke is very tempting, it would be more of a sacrifice to fix my Zaha conundrum and swap a big hitter + cheap midfield for two mid priced options who should be able to cover Hazard together. Would then think about Alli for Couts when he's back.

      Middlesbrough are the ultimate troll team but Zlatan has the form to buck the trend. Palace have the Big Sam factor but Alexis has the quality to breach their defence + could have had a brace on another day vs West Brom. Toss of a coin imo, both could thrive. If I had to pick, I'd just about go Sanchez.

    ..So I have to use my WC (1st one of the season)

    My team currently is:

    Heaton

    Azpil, Alonso, Clyne,

    Lallana, Hazard, Eriksen, Siggy,

    Kane, Lukaku, Benteke

    Jack, Kone, Fletcher, Friend

    Outside of some very minor changes (the cheap defenders, Clyne and Kane), not sure what to do. Only real tempting selections are Aguero or Costa.

    Sanchez or Ibra captain this week? My plan all along was to captain Ibra vs. Sunderland and then switch to Sanchez for the foreseeable future, but I'm having second thoughts after the 15 pointer...

    On the other hand, Sanchez was extremely unlucky not to have a major haul himself.

        Everton look solid with the 5 at the back + Baines is playing at wingback and has pens. I'd say him or maybe Brunt who is OOP and has great fixtures. Van Dijk is a Baps magnet, has great fixtures bar a few and is a threat in the opposition box, he's another.

      Why do you want Pickford out? One of the go to keepers I think with Heaton.

      Spurs have good next fixture but you don't have any attacking Chelsea coverage so maybe go with Costa.

      Personally I would only go for EITHER Sanchez or Walcott but since you have them both, reckon stick for at least another week.

        Valencia is nailed on right back if fit. Blind is pretty much left back but Shaw may be back soon so Blind rotation risk. Reckon will be tough for Darmian getting much game time in the league.

      Aguero kills the balance a little

      Don't like Rondon & Benteke in the same front line.

      Midfield a little light too with Allen and Phillips.

      You could shave some coin in defence.

      Heaton and Jaku for your keepers will be more valuable than that pairing IMO.

      Just some thoughts.

      Heaton should defo be one of your keepers, would rather have a Chelsea defender than Kos, Micky is a bit of a punt but could pay off handsomely. Don't like the look of Rondon, who's tally is imflated by the hat trick and was below average before that, not many options around that level, maybe Defoe? (Fairly jumpy fixtures though)
