Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

    Planning to do Kane -> Aguero next week for Burnley (H) but just thinking Aguero won't start vs Burnley after probably playing his first 90 minutes in a month v Liverpool less than 48 hours earlier!? Anyone agree? May have to rethink my plans!

      It is Pep so rotation will definitely be possible- but he's had time off to just train and condition, so if anyone is going to play both games, it'll probably be him.

    Help needed: Transfers - Alli, Lallana and Costa in for Hazard, Zaha and Kane (already have Eriksen so double Spurs, Alli has 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 gameweeks) but Hazard vs Stoke could be a haul, I'm torn. Are these good transfers or not?

      Losing Haz this week isn't great. Double Spurs mods isn't great as there are plenty of other midfield options. Zara may be off to ACON.

    Downgrading Vertonghen has been brought forward with this suspension. Which of the sub-5m defenders is his best replacement?

    - Cedric & Chambers has good games
    - Nyom is (apparently) not going to AFCoN but I already have Evans
    - Ake has good games and goal threat, although I still feel weird about Bmouth defenders
    - Pieters seems ok.

    A. What happen to your team of Kane score that penalty and get max baps?

    B. Holding Kane for 1 more week is a mad choice with Costa facing a struggling Stoke side?

    My answer:

    A. Loses my ML top of league battle. Now behind 4 points. Need to wait next week to retain the spot.

    I'm struggling to work out why I would transfer in Heaton this week over Foster.

    Heaton has some terrible fixtures looming and Foster looks to have some decent prospects.

    I know Heaton has scored some serious points but going forward, is that really the smart move of the two???

      Unless you plan on making a GK before WC, pick the GK you think will score more until the WC unless the difference is price makes other transfers impossible.
