Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

    Pretty vexed with Toby A... and the horrendous penalty spot at St.Mary's is infuriating in it's own right. Went into the Spurs game with more points and more/supposedly better players than the ML rivals above me and came out with less than them.

      Actually, blame Virgil, he has previous for digging up the penalty spot. Tried it with Arsenal previously... He should get bonus points for that!

        I read that story! He's apparently said that he would do anything to prevent a penalty conversion. I would be well inclined to believe it was done on purpose and that the Sot'n spot takers were aware of the hazard!

      I was very close to bringing him in a few gameweeks ago i missed a major Toby shaped bullet
      It has caught out a lot of fpl managers you are not alone

        Genuinely could not have been worse for me. I brought him in the week after their clean sheet, he was then injured last minute, passed fit, and ill last minute again. Meanwhile, I dropped Kos for him who gets his first clean sheet in a decade plus 3 bonus, and has a run of great fixtures that they might do well in.

        The only reason I picked up Toby was because my ML rivals have Walker and Rose is too injury prone (ironically). To rub it all in, both Walker and Rose have been getting goals and assists in the 2 weeks I've had an injured Toby.

          To rub it in, the leader of my ML (who I believe has been incredibly lucky thus far) had a poor week with only 52, but he was paired up with some bloke who only got 49 this week. It's just the way the entire season has gone for me.

          A little dodgy honestly. Sanchez is nailed for me. Hazard is getting the boot after Stoke; I really don't fancy him in the away games and he's got a few tricky ones coming up. I might try to fit him back in a bit later.

          Looking at potentially Erikson or Lallana, but there isn't much in the midfield pool that I like right now.

            A bit light tbh. Siggy have tough fixtures coming forward. Lallana will get less return in the upcoming weeks imo. Eriksen known for his streaky return not consistent. Im considering to bring Cout back in and then my front 6 is Sanchez Hazard Coutinho Kane Costa Zlatan.

              I agree. It's yet to be seen how Liverpool do with their mixed upcoming fixtures, Lallana and Count might be limited. Erikson is great but I've always avoided him in FPL due to the inconsistency/price. Siggy is the one who will make way in a few weeks when his fixtures turn.

              The original plan was to have Rondon and upgrade another midfielder, but I just don't see the options.

    I want to bring Aguero in ASAP. I think he may score and score big (brace would be perfect!) against Liverpool as Matip is out and either keeper is rubbish. I also think Liverpool will get a few against City as their defence is shocking. To get Aguero in, I need to take a -8 now OR wait until next GW and get him in (same method) for a -4 with 2FT.

    The question is then, for the City - Liverpool game, would you rather have:
    A) Origi + Firmino;
    B) Aguero + Can

    I asked earlier but no reply so sorry for the repost!

      Honestly I don't like either option. Can is nowhere near nailed. I am not getting Kun and certainly not first week back.
      Don't think double pool attack is justified based on very mixed fixtures.

        Hmmm I have heard/read this about their fixtures BUT in the next 6 they play Swansea, Hull and Sunderland. The way Liverpool are scoring that is very promising. They also play City whose defence is very poor. I think Can will get game time when Mane goes to AFCON and with Coutinho not being rushed back into the first team (Klopp's words)

    Nail biter in my cup match. Was behind by 6 with Kane and Rose to play, they had Vert, was tied at 66-66 right until the end and then Vert went and got a YC. Scraped through by 1! How did everyone else go?

      I won mine comfortably 90 - 52 but i was lucky i drew a dead team with Costa captain and he still managed a decent score
      I cant remember the last time i got past the 2nd or 3rd round in it
