Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

      I have both. Will play Ake. In fact, I'll play him in most of the games where he has even the slightest chance of a CS. Set pieces are played to his strength. His forward runs are good.

    What do you think of triple Chelsa defence, (Azpil, Alonso & Courtois) with Danny Rose chucked in?
    I know I cant have any atatcking Chelski but it kind of makes life simpelr not having that chocie, and that defence will own LOL

        That wouldn't be good. It would be Sanchez and Giroud over Sanchez and Walcott. But now that you say it that could actually happen.

      His first start of the season and he scores again..
      Sanchez didnt seem too adversely affected either.

      I think he will start a couple more games and then depending how they go he could be nailed..
      For now a slight risk yes though.

      Maybe with Wally still out he will def start! Wally back after Palace it seems.

      Don't think it's worth -8 especially since he may not play up front.

      Eriksen was very good against Soton and could punish you if sold. I'd keep him at least for the Watford game

        Yeah that was always the plan, but selling Sanchez earlier in the season and missing his hauls really punished me, and now sitting back in top 20k it feels like a good defensive move.

        hmm I think it makes sense to hold off in your case. Selling Spurs assests before Watford seems wrong. GW20 look at getting rid of a Spurs player.

    I'm tempted to use the 2nd wildcard straight away. I don't hate my team but I could easily make 9 or 10 changes.
    H2H cash league is the focus this season so I'm not too bothered about smashing a DGW as it will still only be 3 points in the H2H. Thoughts?

      If you are all about H2H maybe but even so that ain't a bad team
      Keepers need sorting. Payet and maybe Siggy and Defoe
      You need Hazard or Costa.
      4-5 moves over 2-3 weeks - not a lot of hits and you are sorted.

      Your concerns are Wally, Siggy, Payet and may be Defoe. Defense looks well set. A hit in GW20 & GW 21 should sort everything out for you.

      Only sensible way too free up cash is either downgrading Siggy or Kane I think. I would get Randolph or Foster. And do it for hits.

                        I was talking about points. The penalty stops would be 1 or 2 the whole season. The saves and BPS potential is what matters for him mostly. He is getting 6 less than Courtois missing out on 2 games. So he is obviously doing something right.

          Who cares about the last 4 weeks?

          Anyway...Courtois not even an option you suggested.

          Heaton @4.9m is outscoring all 3 you suggested comfortably.

          Foster is ahead of Cech and behind DDG and Lloris by 3 and 2 points respectively and much cheaper than both,

          Valdes is a little behind on 51 pts but missed games against Sunderland West Brom early in the season. Lots of potential value there @ 4.5m

            Valdes is even better value than DDG anyway.

            In the games Valdes missed, Boro kept a CS in one and conceded one in the other. Even if we assume he got 2 points in both games ( you should have had a playing back up anyway) he is better value.

            51+ 2 + 2 = 55.

            55/4.5= 12.222 points per million

            DDG: 63/5.4=11.667 points per million

      Swansea is a no touch imo.

      Antonio is great value. JRod is not nailed with Long lurking and his injury history. He's def on the watchlist though. Philips is also worth a look if you don't own him.
