Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Can anyone see any pressing issues?

    1ft, 0itb.

    Save trade?

    Heaton
    Alonso / Cedric / McAuley
    Sanchez / Hazard / Eriksen / Siggy / Lallana
    Ibrahimovic / Defoe

    Pickford / Pieters / Friend / Diamonde

Looking at getting in Lukaku for Defoe next week.

I had Cedric for a while and messed me around. Not sure his spot is secure? Otherwise looks great

Makes sense to save FT and then more flexibility to bring in Aguero if needed

He'll be benched for the WBA game I reckon - otherwise he'll be playing 3 games in 6/7 days. He's been a nightmare and I'll be getting rid as soon as is convenient.

8 goals and 3 assists is hardly useless. And not injured, he's scored in every 2nd match lately, not many other mids with that rate for that price.

Bottomed. Repost from earlier to get some more views from a new crowd.

I'm tempted to use the 2nd wildcard straight away. I don't hate my team but I could easily make 9 or 10 changes.
H2H cash league is the focus this season so I'm not too bothered about smashing a DGW as it will still only be 3 points in the H2H. Thinking an early wildcard could give me a nice head start on the second half of the season and maximise the impact of the WC. Thoughts?

    Pickford Grant
McAuley Alonso Jones Van Dijk Amat
Sanchez Walcott Siggy Payet de Roon
    Ibra Kane Defoe

I would look to bring in Costa, Lukaku, Mkhitaryan, Ake, Rose, maybe Lallana, Foster/Forster and a cheap playing keeper on WC

Anyone think Jamie Redknapp is a bit of a joke? Post-match he says "Probably the best away performance from Tottenham this season". Half-time he was saying "I've never seen a Pochettino side play this badly". Hyperbole aside his comments are just laughable

      GW20 WC Planning. Choose:

      A) Hazard & Rondon
      B) Mkhitaryan & Lukaku
      C) Cabaye & Aguero

      To partner:

      Sanchez - Wally/Lallana - Phillips - De roon - ____
      Costa - Ibra - ____

      Appreciate your thoughts!

      Heaton
      Alonso, Jones, Ake
      Walcott, Phillips, Sanchez, Hazard
      Ibrahimovic, Costa, Lukaku

subs: Foster --- Nyom, de Roon, Holgate --- 0.2 ITB

I've had Foster & Heaton combo from the beginning and reluctant to let go of neither. Other players could be axed 😀

Not sure I understand the logic of holding onto Swansea assets given Bradley's dismissal. Are teams without a clear manager historically better performers? With the options in MF I'd quickly find a good replacement for Siggy.

Which up to 5.3M defender to get guys? It would be for my Origi to Costa move. Need extra 0.6M and I'm getting rid of Walker.

      Brunt, Baines, Jones, anyone else?

Or just do Holebas to Holgate and keep Walker?

      Thanks all.

Walcott: 8 goals in total, 3 goals the last 5 matches he's played: heavy sold with good fixtures

Sterling: 5 goals in total, but only 1 the last 12 matches: bought heavily now with difficult fixtures.

      Where's the logic here?

I brought Sterling in week.. i agree with Fedolefan Sterling is looking like the player he was at the start of the season. Jumping on the Train early to catch the points is not what I call being a sheep. Plus at 7.6 for a city player to me it's a no brainer.

      Morning.
Still pissed off about last night. Stupid Kane. Cost me cup exit, dropped here and there, red arrows everywhere.... murmur... stupid pitch... why doesn't he even move.... just stands there... good riddance..

Phew!! Feel a bit better now. How are you today?

I get you mate, had Benteke and Kun this year when both got me minus points (Kun C even). Luckily this time around got rid of him for Ibra (C), so it all evens out sometimes. Just forget about it and go on. It's easy to do, haha. 😉 You'll have more luck next time around.

I rage transferred him out for Costa already, well that was the plan all along. I feel my team is in a better shape now. I have to say though, Eriksen and Alli looked awfully dangerous yesterday... might have to consider.

Feeling great with all this football on for the next week.

I wasn't too annoyed by Kane, at least he didn't get a 2 pointer. Then again I ended up on 77 and destroyed my cup opponent so perhaps that's why it didn't affect me much.

Chin up though, hopefully we have a better GW19 and 20.

Thoughts guys? We have a ML that will distribute winnings after GW 19 and am trailing a Haz(c) every week leader by 30. Team's not your regular template and has done OK-ish. At 137K overall.

Pickford injury means I will have no keeper this week.

      1 FT 0.0 itb

      Pick
      Valencia Smith Williams
      Mane Firmino Alli Siggy
      Kane Ibra(c) Defoe

      Jaku Nyom Capoo Walker

Few options since I just need to roll the dice this week and thinking one of the following:

      A) Mane + Pick to Randolph + Mkhi -4
      B) Mane to Mkhi and go without keeper
      C) Defoe & Walker to Giroud & Brunt -4 (Leader has Defoe, only common pick right now)
      D) Defoe & Mane to Costa(c) & Chadli/Philips/Mirallas
      E) Kane & Walker to Costa(c) & Brunt -4
      F) Kane to Costa and go without keeper

      Anything else?

Hmmm... It is important to have playing 11 as taking a hit would actually mean losing only -2 on ur GK. So Pickford needs to go. Probably A but not sure about Mkhi gametime.

        I wouldn't take a hit for a keeper.

If it's all about this coming week, have you considered Kane to Lukaku (c). He's more likely to explode than Costa.

Or even Defoe and Siggy to Lukaku and Stanislas / other BOU mid for a hit? Then you get to keep Kane v Watford which could easily be a haul

        1. fedolefan
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 2 months ago

ML leader has Lukaku, so that kinda messes things up. Ideally thinking Kane & Costa. That's potentially very explosive.

Fair enough but if he will captain Haz, you captaining Kaku would be a diff.

I'd try to keep Mane though if going Kane + Costa. Downgrade Siggy instead IMO

Hey guys. Quite keen to get Kun in before Burnley game, but should i be focusing on the defence instead? 1FT, 1.6 ITB

      Heaton/Pickford
      Cedric Brunt Jones Pieters Friend
Sanchez Payet KDB Hazard De Roon
      Anichebe Ibra Carrol

A: Save this gw, then KDB+Carrol-->Phillips+Kun
B: KDB->Phillips this gw, then Carrol-->Kun next gw
C: Cedric/Brunt/Jones-->Bellerin (although I want Cedric for the fixtures)
      D: Something else

      Good morning!

In the Costa vs Aguero debate, do you take into account who your ML rival is having?

I'm chasing by 20+ points, and rival has Costa. Should that be an argument for getting Costa, or encourage me to take the hit to squeeze Aguero the differential into my team?
