Adam Lallana maintains his fine recent form, while Roberto Firmino breaks his scoring duck as Liverpool secure a comeback win over Stoke City. Here’s the impact of last night’s action.

On the Rise

Adam Lallana
It’s four goals and an assist in the last four Gameweeks for the Liverpool midfielder after his leveller against Stoke.

Now up to fourth in the FPL midfield standings, the 7.5-priced Lallana’s average of 6.1 points per match is bettered only by Alexis Sanchez (7.2) and Eden Hazard (6.6) in that position.

Nonetheless, the upcoming schedule could be a lot easier for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Up against Man City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs in the next seven Gameweeks, heavy investment in the Reds comes packaged with a major caveat, particularly at a time when the schedule smiles kindly on the likes of Arsenal and United.

Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino
The England international needed just seconds to get on the scoresheet after capitalising on a wayward Ryan Shawcross back pass.

Sturridge continues to be handed minutes off the bench by his manager but is strengthening his claim for a starting role with every appearance – he’s now scored or assisted in three of his last four, despite all those outings arriving as a substitute.

Although Divock Origi supplied an assist, he’s now gone two matches without a goal and the upcoming schedule – with matches on Saturday and Monday – suggests that Sturridge could well be due a start.

Firmino also deserves a mention here after ending a six-match man drought with the Reds’ second.

Having dropped 0.3 in price over the last two Gameweeks, the Brazilian’s strike and maximum bonus should be enough to ease the exodus. Furthermore, with Philippe Coutinho due back imminently, Firmino’s expected return to the “false nine” role should boost his points potential once more.

Owners should still be aware, however, that Firmino will appear in court to face drink drive charges on January 31 – the same day as the Reds are due to take on Chelsea in Gameweek 23.

Jon Walters
Partnered by Peter Crouch as Mark Hughes opted for a 3-5-2 at Anfield, the Potters midfielder grabbed a second goal in his last four appearances.

The versatile Walters has now started five of the last six Gameweeks at a time where the likes of Wilfried Bony seems to have fallen firmly out of favour at the bet365.

Granted, he’ll never be the most fashionable of Fantasy picks but, judging by Hughes’ recent teamsheets, the Irishman seems to have secured his role as a regular once again.

Erik Pieters
Stationed as a left wing-back at Anfield, the Dutchman’s assist for Stoke’s opener was his first set of attacking returns this season.

An upcoming trip to Chelsea will ensure we steer clear of the Potters right now but, beyond that, the 4.5-priced Pieters could appeal as the cheapest of their defenders. Hughes’ side then face a run of four home fixtures in six, allied with trips to Sunderland and West Brom.

In Decline

Sadio Mane
The wide man failed to build on last week’s winner at Everton and has scored just once in the last four Gameweeks.

With the Afric Cup of Nations just around the corner, Mane now has just two more matches before leaving for international duties, including the New Year’s Ever encounter against City.

Given that he’s also set to face Sunderland in Gameweek 20, many of his 21% FPL owners may be content to hold for now, though plenty have already opted for the exit door – only Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson have earned more transfers out in midfield prior to Friday’s deadline.

Xherdan Shaqiri
The Swiss international has now warmed the Stoke bench from start to finish in each of the last two Gameweeks.

Surprisingly, Shaqiri’s fall from favour has also come at a time when Marko Arnautovic is suspended, with Hughes even turning to Ramadan Sobhi and the fit-again Ibrahim Afellay as substitutes at Anfield instead.

Typically a regular starter when fit for the Potters, it seems that the former Bayern man is no longer guaranteed minutes as Hughes continues to seek a solution in the final third.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Now that Pickford is out for 2 months which one of the three would u prefer?

    A) Foster
    B) Valdes
    C) Save (other keeper is Boruc)

P.S :- .1£ short of heaton otherwise it would have been a no brainer..

What abt selling boruc for heaton/foster which will cost me .5£ less and keeping Pickford on the bench...been wanting to sell boruc since a long tym and this seems to b the chance...

    Pickford Jak
    Alonso Walker Lovren McAuley Amat
    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Eriksen Sigurdsson
    Ibra Origi Diomande
    1ft, 0.6m itb

    What is priority?
    A) Jak to Valdes (since 0 gk-points likely)
    B) Origi out since 1-pointers soon with Sturridge and/or Coutinho taking his place
    C) Kun in, but downgrade who!?

Annoyingly bottomed so sorry for the re-post.

      Hi all.

      Cech Pickford
      Alonso Lovren Pieters Holebas Chambers
      Sanchez Lallana Sigurdsson Pedro Carrick
      Ibrahimovic Kane Defoe

      1 FT 0.0 ITB

With the Pedro suspension in mind and no bench to speak of this week (Carrick could be rested and Chambers and Pieters have ManUtd and Chelsea away respectively).

      A) Pedro => Phillips
      B) Save the transfer and hope Carrick gets his customary 2 or 3 points
      C) Kane => Costa

Two out of Costa, Ibra and Kun is a though nut.
Everybody in my ML owns Ibra (including me) and will bring Costa in, this or the next GW. I think that Kun is overlooked and may be my way back in it.

Worth and "gamble" with 12,7 or go "safe" with Costa? Kun has scored every 101 minute and CiTy looks to be back in form. Thoughts?

This stage of the season you be buying Kun below starting price but around 1 million extra for Costa giving the ones who have owned him for a while a fairly big advantage regarding team value. If you have Hazard and Alonso it's an obvious choice for me.

Chadli is my main concern, thinking of bringing JRod, Allen or Phillips but not excited about any of them. The thing is, whatever he does, he won't get close to the world class he needs in every position to make his tactics work. He literally needs perfection across the park to get the team clicking

Aye you're right. Needs to prove he's so good by adapting. You can win the CL without having perfection, look at Chelsea.

City need a busquets or an Alonso to play the pep way. Someone to start play from the back and dictate the overall tempo. Fernandinho is decent but he's just a midfield enforcer

Cant recall Midd's fixtures but I guess Foster's fixtures were better over next 8-10 weeks?

Any help would be great - I feel like I'm just lurching from one dumpster fire to another, and it's taking all of my self-control to not wildcard as soon as the second one comes up (like I did last year - costing me during double GWs).

      Heaton - Pickford
      Azpi - Pieters - Evans - Daniels - Amat
      Sanchez - Hazard - Siggy - Phillips - Allen
      Kane - Ibra - Anichebe
      1.0 ITB

Any thoughts? My biggest worries are my 4th/5th mids and everyone other than me seems to have a Spurs defender. Any thoughts? Was thinking of bringing Costa in next week, and then after that; who knows. Perhaps downgrade Costa after that to Benteke and use the funds either down back or moving Philips/Allen into Cabaye or something like that.

Help would be greatly appreciated as its doing my head in.

Spurs have only kept a clean sheet again Swansea and Hull in recent weeks, I don't see their defenders as must haves the way Chelsea are.

I think a good route to go would be doubling on the Chelsea backline.

Kane to Defoe/Benteke/Rondon. Bring in Chelsea and also possibly a Saints defender. Upgrade Siggy to Coutinho when fit. Allen to Theo/Lallana if possible also.

Your team looks fine tbh. Kane to Costa and Siggy to Lallana would be my preferred moves, though you may want to save up FTs

Thanks everyone; like the sound of:
Kane to Benteke (would go Defoe, but can't double up on Sunderland forwards)
        Siggy to Coutinho
        Allen to Theo/Lallana

If I can make it work!

      Grant Pickford

      Azpilcueta Lovren McAuley Holebas Amat

      Sánchez Hazard Lallana Siggy Fletcher

      Ibrahimović Costa Carroll

Going to leave Grant for a couple of matches then look to replace Pickford.

Agüero is obviously one to watch/buy. Unless he elbows or volleys someone and gets another 4 match ban.

      Kane and Walcott out for

      B) Pedro and Aguero

      C) Just do Kane out for Costa?

Unless Kane gets a hat load of points tonight I assume people's priority is to bring back the previously in form Costa for Kane for next gw?

I also have Pickford and second keeper is Foster, who to bring in to rotate with Foster? thinking cheap to mid price range.

      thanks!
