Adam Lallana maintains his fine recent form, while Roberto Firmino breaks his scoring duck as Liverpool secure a comeback win over Stoke City. Here’s the impact of last night’s action.

On the Rise

Adam Lallana
It’s four goals and an assist in the last four Gameweeks for the Liverpool midfielder after his leveller against Stoke.

Now up to fourth in the FPL midfield standings, the 7.5-priced Lallana’s average of 6.1 points per match is bettered only by Alexis Sanchez (7.2) and Eden Hazard (6.6) in that position.

Nonetheless, the upcoming schedule could be a lot easier for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Up against Man City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs in the next seven Gameweeks, heavy investment in the Reds comes packaged with a major caveat, particularly at a time when the schedule smiles kindly on the likes of Arsenal and United.

Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino
The England international needed just seconds to get on the scoresheet after capitalising on a wayward Ryan Shawcross back pass.

Sturridge continues to be handed minutes off the bench by his manager but is strengthening his claim for a starting role with every appearance – he’s now scored or assisted in three of his last four, despite all those outings arriving as a substitute.

Although Divock Origi supplied an assist, he’s now gone two matches without a goal and the upcoming schedule – with matches on Saturday and Monday – suggests that Sturridge could well be due a start.

Firmino also deserves a mention here after ending a six-match man drought with the Reds’ second.

Having dropped 0.3 in price over the last two Gameweeks, the Brazilian’s strike and maximum bonus should be enough to ease the exodus. Furthermore, with Philippe Coutinho due back imminently, Firmino’s expected return to the “false nine” role should boost his points potential once more.

Owners should still be aware, however, that Firmino will appear in court to face drink drive charges on January 31 – the same day as the Reds are due to take on Chelsea in Gameweek 23.

Jon Walters
Partnered by Peter Crouch as Mark Hughes opted for a 3-5-2 at Anfield, the Potters midfielder grabbed a second goal in his last four appearances.

The versatile Walters has now started five of the last six Gameweeks at a time where the likes of Wilfried Bony seems to have fallen firmly out of favour at the bet365.

Granted, he’ll never be the most fashionable of Fantasy picks but, judging by Hughes’ recent teamsheets, the Irishman seems to have secured his role as a regular once again.

Erik Pieters
Stationed as a left wing-back at Anfield, the Dutchman’s assist for Stoke’s opener was his first set of attacking returns this season.

An upcoming trip to Chelsea will ensure we steer clear of the Potters right now but, beyond that, the 4.5-priced Pieters could appeal as the cheapest of their defenders. Hughes’ side then face a run of four home fixtures in six, allied with trips to Sunderland and West Brom.

In Decline

Sadio Mane
The wide man failed to build on last week’s winner at Everton and has scored just once in the last four Gameweeks.

With the Afric Cup of Nations just around the corner, Mane now has just two more matches before leaving for international duties, including the New Year’s Ever encounter against City.

Given that he’s also set to face Sunderland in Gameweek 20, many of his 21% FPL owners may be content to hold for now, though plenty have already opted for the exit door – only Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson have earned more transfers out in midfield prior to Friday’s deadline.

Xherdan Shaqiri
The Swiss international has now warmed the Stoke bench from start to finish in each of the last two Gameweeks.

Surprisingly, Shaqiri’s fall from favour has also come at a time when Marko Arnautovic is suspended, with Hughes even turning to Ramadan Sobhi and the fit-again Ibrahim Afellay as substitutes at Anfield instead.

Typically a regular starter when fit for the Potters, it seems that the former Bayern man is no longer guaranteed minutes as Hughes continues to seek a solution in the final third.

    Rotation risks?

Costa - No, just come off a ban
Sanchez - Possible, tight turnaround between Sunday and Tuesday
Aguero - Unlikely, off a ban, may be subbed after 70 mins if City are winning well in one of their games
Ibra - Unlikely, may be subbed after 70 mins if Utd are winning well in one of their games
Hazard - Unlikely, no European football, may be subbed after 70 mins if Chelsea are winning well in one of their games

Hell or high water was brilliant btw. Mckenzie deserves best director Oscar. Every scene felt perfectly paced, never rushed never cumbersome. Nothing forced. Brilliant acting. Beautiful cinematography. Cracking use of music. Loved it. Gets a big 5 stars from me.

A few questions which I'd be grateful for your help on.

    1. Captain Sanchez or Hazard?

    2. Play Snodgrass or Origi?

    3. Play Amat (BOU), Chambers (mun) or Pieters (che)?

At the moment I'm swaying towards Sanchez, Snodgrass and Amat with Chambers as my first defensive sub in case Amat doesn't play. This would leave.

    Heaton
    Alonso Jones Amat
    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Sigurdsson Snodgrass
    Kane Carroll

    Subs: Foster, Origi, Chambers, Pieters

Got 2 FT and if I don't get Aguero back in this GW, the chance to sort out some of the stragglers in defence and midfield.

    A) Capoue > De Roon, bank 0.3

Friend seems to be struggling to get back into the squad at the moment, over Fabio.

And there's always that rotation risk with Cedric.

Do feel that McAuley is the wrong West Brom defender to have, though their fixtures look great after Spurs.

Liverpools fixtures are horrendous from now until March but would it still be wise to do Eriksen to Lallana? Or would you advise something else? I also want to do Kane to Costa but Kane's record in the derbies makes me want to hang on to him for another two weeks when he plays Chelsea. Also have an issue with Pedro next week with suspension.

    Verts Alonso Jones (Friend, Pieters)

    Pedro Eriksen Sanchez Siggy DeRoon

Think it depends how you look at it.

After this GW if I bring Lallana in they have these 3 fixtures in next 5 - Sunderland (a), Swansea (h), Hull (a)

Doesn't seem so bad then, although would prefer the games at home

Your thoughts on the below transfer for GW20 guys please:

Amat + Wally + Costa to Brunt + Phillips + Aguero

    Alonso/Jones/Ake/Friend/Amat

Soton is not a bad fixture for someone like Brunt who could possible get some attacking returns and CS potential too.

And after that is Hull at home which is good for their attackers and defenders.

So one match against spurs in between their good run won't be too bad.

    Decided after reading today's comments.

Gonna do Origi > Rondon and Clyme > Valencia this week for (-4)

Leaves me with Rondon Tekkers and Ibra front line and it'll be Tekkers I move on for Costa after the Swansea game. He's looking kak. It also allows me to keep Silva for the Burnley at home match.

I hate the tekkers conundrum. Not playing well but fixtures about to become brilliant.

Yeah, hence the conundrum. Think I'll roll my ft just to keep options open

Should I be considering Lallana now as Liverpool faces City, United, Chelsea and Spurs in the next seven gameweeks?
    Feels like chasing points.

Feel like just sticking with Walcott even if he misses this game and if he's expected to be fit for the next one. The transfer would be for a hit.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

It's the alternating games that appeal and he's very nicely priced. I'm seeing what happens tomorrow

In my case its just that Walcott has a extremely good run of fixtures (CRY, bou, swa, BUR, WAT, che, HUL) too and even he misses one more game I don't know if (-4) would be worth it for Lallana.

No. I already have him and will accept the price rises but every other game is tough for Pool now. I think Lala will be the one who suffers for FPL pts.

Firmino or Coutinho is the way forward I think.

I'm looking at Rondon myself but he's only on 4 goals in last 12 games and they all came in 2 games....

Fixtures good enough to get him scoring more consistently?

I hope so. I need an alternative to Benteke in case things go south at Palace

I was absolutely chuffed and surprised when he scored a hat-trick on his planned farewell game for my team.
But I can't say selling him was very tough after that, he is annoying to own way more often than not (inconsistent and baps repelling).
Not sure I'll go for him again, I got my points and ran.

2 home games against Hull & Sunderland say it's worth a gamble.

I sometimes believe that form comes with good fixtures and that's what is helping my decision of getting Rondon.

What you planning to do with Walcott? Got him on for a hit this week I just don't feel like selling him for another hit even if he misses one more game fixtures are soo gooood.

there arent many better options around 6.5m mark though

have to pay extra 1m to get tekkers or defoe

Anybody "fancy" Afobe as 3rd striker? Nice fixtures + good enabler. Though not a guaranteed starter.

    Hi opinions welcome please:

    Heaton (grant)
    Jones Ake Holebas (Friend Muniesa)
    Hazard Sanchez Phillips Siggy (Winks)
    Ibra Kane Costa

    0.9ITB 1FT

Thinking either 1) downgrade Siggy to JRod and upgrade Kane to Aguero next GW for no hits, 2) upgrade Muniesa to Brunt and see how other things develop. Thanks!

Needs a Chelsea defender. You can sacrifice Hazard if you want to keep that front three
