Theo Walcott is likely to miss Arsenal’s clash with Palace. Sunderland stopper Jordan Pickford is out for six-to-eight weeks with a knee problem, while Philippe Coutinho remains unavailable as Liverpool entertain Man City.

Here’s the latest team news ahead of tonight’s Gameweek 19 deadline.

Arsene Wenger has conceded that he doesn’t expect Theo Walcott to recover from a calf complaint in time for Arsenal’s clash with Palace. Kieran Gibbs is also likely to miss out, though Danny Welbeck and Shkodran Mustafi are both back in contention. The Gunners boss also admitted that he has “one or two uncertainties with flu”, though failed to elaborate.

Liverpool pair Philippe Coutinho and Joel Matip remain sidelined for the New Year’s Eve clash with Man City, with Jurgen Klopp conceding he’s “pretty sure” the Brazilian will also miss the Gameweek 20 clash against Sunderland two days’ later.

Jordan Pickford has been ruled out for six-to-eight weeks after straining knee ligaments in Sunderland’s loss at Old Trafford. David Moyes has confirmed that Jack Rodwell, Javier Manquillo and Steven Pienaar have resumed light training – all three are unlikely to start, though have a chance of making the bench.

Claudio Ranieri is hopeful that Danny Drinkwater will be fit enough to start at home to West Ham. The Leicester boss also hinted at a first-team return for Riyad Mahrez after utilising the Algerian as a sub against Everton last time out.

Nathan Redmond serves a one-match suspension as Southampton take on West Brom. Claude Puel will assess the fitness levels of his players as they prepare for the second of three matches over a five-day stretch.

Swansea’s Jefferson Montero is expected to be sidelined for up to a month with the hamstring injury that forced him off against West Ham.

Watford pair Daryl Janmaat and Valon Behrami could be out for up to three weeks with the knocks that forced them off against Palace on Boxing Day.

Maarten Stekelenburg and James McCarthy are both still ruled out through injury, while Bryan Oviedo joins them on the sidelines as Everton make their way to Hull in the first match of Gameweek 19 this evening.

Jeff Hendrick is suspended for Burnley’s clash with Sunderland, while fellow midfielder Dean Marney will be assessed after picking up a knock.

Hull’s Abel Hernandez is back in training following a hernia operation but remains around two weeks away from a return.

Viktor Fischer is Middlesbrough’s only injury absentee for the trip to Old Trafford, while Antonio Barragan is set to serve a one-match suspension.

Manuel Lanzini is back in training but remains a slight for West Ham due to a rib injury. Pedro Obiang is available after serving a one-match suspension, though James Collins remains sidelined, with Slaven Bilic expecting the Welshman back next week.

Mark Hughes has revealed that Phil Bardsley has returned to training and could be rushed back into action due to a lack of defensive options for Stoke’s trip to the Bridge. Marc Muniesa and Geoff Cameron remain sidelined through injury.

Marc Pugh and Lewis Cook are Bournemouth’s only absentees for the trip to Swansea, Eddie Howe has confirmed.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s 7pm deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Doubling on the WBA defense? (sot). Slight madness but your other option is Holebas who could easily concede 4. McAuley ahead of him on the bench for me but maybe worth putting your eggs in a couple of poor baskets?

It's more that I can see Spurs piling up 3-4 and Holebas finding his way into the book again.

                Bookies have it:

                1. Swansea
                2. WBA
                3. Watford

In terms of straight CS odds. Though Holebas comes with additional attacking upside :/

A whole lot of stuff, including selling Kane before his price drops, that I will now do today anyway, but over two GW's and with just -8 hit. 😀

Unless I fix more issues and take a -4 now and a -8 in the evening to make it a full -12 anyway.

Why will Morrison get games? Playing very well recently and team looks more balanced with him.
Not sure about this, just thinking out loud but it's not clear cut that Chadli will start most games imo.

Surely Costa is by far the safest captain choice given he's had an enforced one game rest already and is playing for what should be one of the freshest teams over this period? With fixtures piling up pretty much any player could see their minutes curtailed - except Costa.

    Costa vs aguero?

I know technically you could go for "Kobra" but It seems that in most teams they have 2 premium forwards. At the moment it's difficult to look past ibra for the first spot given his recent form as Uniteds fixtures.

However, the second spot is a bit more interesting. There's Kane who most people seem to be shipping. And then there's 2 options - aguero or Costa.

Costa is mr consistent and playing in a Chelsea side that looks like they could run away with this league.

Then there's aguero. Based on previous seasons there would be no competition, but how do people feel about aguero now? Previously I would have brought him in as quickly as possible but there is just something about his time under Pep that's a bit unsettling. He doesn't seem to be quite as consistent as he used to be, probably because of Peps way of playing.

I know the potential perils of not bringing in aguero, but I thought I would chuck this out there to gauge what others thought.

To me, the sensible thing would be to have ibra and Costa and adopt a wait and see approach with aguero....

    1. greghammer95
      • 16 Years
      9 years, 11 hours ago

I'm doing the same as you. Its not that straightforward for all though. Costa is worth just 10.2m in my team at the moment, thats a 2.6m upgrade to Aguero that I simply don't have.

    2. *sigh*
      • 14 Years
      9 years, 11 hours ago

It all comes down to whether you held onto Costa or not.If I was to buy one now it would be Kun as you'd be at a major disadvantage team value wise with those who have had the Chelsea forward from the start.

Ultimately it will probably come down to A) how terrifying Aguero looks against Liverpool and B) how often I think I'll captain either of them over, say, a five GW period.

Chelsea's fixtures ain't great so I suspect B leans towards Kun but I'll have a closer look when the time comes to make a decision.

      Agree.

Costa owned by 41% of the game. If he continues to do what he's been doing that's me screwed without him if I fail to get him in.
Aguero has not shown he can match Costa's consistency yet this season. Plus there's Guardiola who liked midfielders it seems. I think as I'm a pretty high ish rank Costa is better for me at the moment. Boring option!

4 double digit points in 12 games he played. He is on 10 goals while Costa is on 13 goals ,so despite missing a lot of his season you could see the difference.

And so it begins. He's not even played a game since his suspension, and people are already scaremongering about the potential for Aguero to be rested.

You can try to justify not getting him anyway you want, no need to pollute the boards with this though.

It's not about Kun being 'rested'.
It's that he lacks match fitness. It's not easy missing 4 games then coming back to a full 90, he will be out of puff

I can't think of any examples of key players coming back from suspension and not starting the next few games.

He won't be rested for the Liverpool game at all, but he hasn't played in almost a month. One day's worth of rest, could easily be on the bench for Burnley game.

    Mannone
    Alonso Holebas Brunt
    Sanchez Hazard Lallana Chadli
    Kun(c) Ibra Carroll

With Redmond out and Saints looking pretty ineffectual v Spurs should I go double Pulis and play McAuley instead of Holebas?

What do you think? That mid is pretty ugly!

I really want Alonso but he is expensive. Downgrade to VVD maybe?

Koeman said he played a back three against Leicester to give them a bit more security and control against Leicester's two strikers but they did swap in and out of the formation during the game depending on Leicester's adjustments.

I ask because my current 11th player is between Zaha (ars) and Anichebe (bur). To bring Aguero in I have to sell Walker, who is out anyway for this match, for Holgate. Walker drops in value tonight. Holgate would make a better 11th player, given his fixture, than either Zaha or Anichebe but only if he plays!

New manager, new philosophy. More emphasis on set pieces? New penalty taker?

Not bringing him in yet myself but I can see the arguments for it.

His goal was thanks to Kaboul being useless at holding an offside line, a decent defender probably would have caught him offside.

Only thing is possible peno duty, but he's not appealing to me.

From what I can gather on here - as Christina said, maybe on penalties, Zaha off soon, Big Sam apparently likes attacking mids like him (or something like that)...

    Good to go?

    Heaton
    Alonso, Jones, Rose, Ake
    Sanchez, Hazard, Eriksen, Lallana
    Ibra, Costa

    Pickford, Phillips, Anichebe, Holebas

...deciding to play Ake over Phillips...50/50 there

Also looking to move Pickford on next week. Options:
    a) swap for Hennessey...is he nailed though?
    b) otherwise will get Foster, but would need to cash in Holebas...maybe for Martin Kelly?

    Thoughts?

    Mornin all...
    GTG?...

    Grant
    Clyne Jones Alonso
    Haz(VC) Sanchez Phillips Capoue
    Ibra(C) Kane Carroll

    Pickford Fletcher Holebas Walker

    1FT. £0ITB...

Was thinking of getting Heaton in for Pick but would need to take a hit n downgrade Walker to Ake. Was OK with this, but now doubting it's worth n thinking I should just play Grant n Clyne or Fletcher n Holebas if called upon...

Began the week confident I'd be swapping Kane for Costa, but now feel if Kane performs I've a chance to make up some ground on ML rivals as they'll all go ahead with the move. Bummed about the imminent 2ND drop tonight, but what can you do?...

    Thoughts much appreciated...
    Cheers.
