Dele Alli scores twice for the third successive Gameweek as Spurs extinguish Chelsea’s 13-match winning streak. Christian Eriksen supplies both assists as Eden Hazard’s form on the road continues to cause concern.

On the Rise

Dele Alli
It’s seven goals in the last four Gameweeks for the Spurs midfielder after scoring twice in the 2-0 win over Chelsea – his third successive brace.

Serving up points in six of his last eight outings, Alli has soared to third in the Fantasy Premier League midfield standings and has now scored 10 goals this term – matching his tally for the 2015/16 campaign.

Number one for transfers in this Gameweek with a massive 166,000+ new owners, Spurs’ upcoming schedule suggests that Alli could keep on delivering as the bandwagon picks up pace – the north London side host West Brom and Middlesbrough and travel to Sunderland in the next four.

Christian Eriksen
While Alli claimed top billing at the Lane, Eriksen kept his tally ticking over by supplying the assists for both the starlet’s goals.

The Dane’s 11-point haul – a fifth double-figure return in eight appearances – took him to fifth amongst FPL midfielders, highlighting his points potential ahead of those aforementioned fixtures.

Indeed, with the 10.9-priced Harry Kane failing to get amongst the goals, the prospect of doubling up on Eriksen (8.6) and Alli (8.4) may prove more appealing for those looking to invest in Mauricio Pochettino’s attack.

The Spurs Defence
With their first-choice defensive regulars all fit and free from suspension, Spurs chalked up an eighth clean sheet of the season last night – second only to Chelsea’s 11.

Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to roll out a 3-4-2-1 set-up bodes well for the prospects of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, who were both utilised as wing-backs against the Blues.

Indeed, Rose has now produced attacking or defensive returns in each of his last five appearances – an average of 5.1 points per match is second only to Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso (5.5) amongst defenders. He did, however, pick up an eigth yellow card and is now just two cautions from a two-match ban.

The return of Toby Alderweireld in recent matches also looks key. Spurs have chalked up six shutouts in 12 matches with the Belgian on board, compared to two clean sheets in eight without him.

With the schedule now in their favour, investment in Pochettino’s main men at both ends of the pitch looks likely.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
The Belgian’s struggles on the road continued last night – he’s scored just twice away from Stamford Bridge this season.

More worryingly for his 34.7% owners, Hazard’s blank means he’s found the net only twice in his previous eight league outings – a far cry from the performances that served up seven goals and three assists in the first 11 Gameweeks.

Should he fail to pick up the points away to Leicester City next time out, Hazard – who also faces Arsenal and Liverpool in the next four Gameweeks – could see the exodus pick up pace as we look for better value in the premium bracket.

Harry Kane
With Alli and Eriksen bringing in the points again, the Spurs striker left his 13% ownership disappointed by failing to score at home for the third successive fixture.

Although Kane’s 16-point haul away to Watford last time out reminded us of his goal-getting talents, at a price of 10.9, there’s no doubt his appeal is lessened by the more budget-friendly alternatives in the Spurs midfield.

Given that the battle for premium-priced forwards has intensified recently, Kane needs to step up his consistency in order to prevent further sales as we look to Sergio Aguero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Diego Costa up front.

Willian
A run of four straight starts came to an end last night as Pedro returned from suspension to oust the Brazilian from Antonio Conte’s first XI.

Willian’s brace against Stoke City in the previous Gameweek had suggested he would retain a starting berth at White Hart Lane, offering us a viable mid-price alternative to Hazard.

Yet a 26-minute cameo appearance off the bench confirmed that his acquisition clearly still comes with a major risk, with Conte still somewhat uncertain over that role on the right of the Chelsea front three.

      Thoughts on Firmino?

If he doesn't score in the next two (especially SWA with potentially Coutinho back), he's out the door for me. Downgrade to Wally and use cash elsewhere is what I am looking at.

What are your thoughts and rank so far this season? Anything you wish/wanna do differently? Any proven strategies that worked in the past that just don't seem to be clicking this year (like sticking with a player even through a dry spell)? Also bandwagons seem to be more popular (and successful )with the likes of cheap options like brunt, phillips, zaha etc being able to maintain form. I, personally, am finding it extremely hard to break into the top 100k. Been hovering around there since gw 5! Competition is tight!

Much harder than last season, that's for sure.

Any time I think I've figured my team out and I've gained ground on my ML rivals, next round comes and changes the game completely. So many different players delivering points in bursts. You can't have them all but if you get the wrong ones, it can make the difference between a 30pt week and a 90pt one. Also, the market is crazy with the rush to acquire the latest exploding targets forcing you to make hard decisions each week. It's been extremely stressful to say the least.

I've also been hovering around 100k since GW4 and ML rivals who play for the first time have been beating me.

Currently ranked 238K, been between 60K - 300K all season. Plan to take minimal hits for the remainder of the season. I've already spent 48 points on hits thus far due to being overly influenced by price changes, and it's only got me an average TV of 104 anyway.

Points over price changes is my FPL New Years resolution

Well this is my first season and I was rank 4th overall after gameweek six but then for around 8 gameweeks I took at least a -4. Since then I have been to rehab for my hits addiction and am back on track slowly climbing back up into the top 1k after dropping to around 11k.
So the things I would do differently is not take so many hits next season this season is just a learning season for me.
      My team is
      Heaton mignolet
      Ake alonso rose Jones Holgate
      Hazard sanchez alli Phillips stanislas
      Aguero zlatan Barnes
Happy with my team and looking forward to climbing back up the rankings. My goal this season is to have a lower rank than my points total think that is a realistic target for my first season

Worth bringing in Stanislas for a hit?

Fall guys would be Antonio (CRY) or Marney (SOU). The latter would be an upgrade of my 5th mid and so will most likely require a future transfer, as well as meaning benching Phillips (tot) this week.

    Valdes - Jaku
    Alonso - Brunt - A. Smith - Pieters - Amat
    Sanchez - Hazard - Alli - Coutinho - Phillips
    Costa - Ibra - Barnes
    0.2 ITB

Should i improve the defence? A. Smith to Ake next week looks like a no-brainer.
Who's the first on the chopping block? Hazard? Although he has Hull in 2 GW's?

How is this Wildcard team looking?

    Grant - Randolph
    Alonso - Walker - Brunt - Ake - Chambers
Sanchez - Alli - Philips - Stanislas - De Roon
    Ibra - Costa - Kane

Ive gone for Kane because ML Leader is 11 points ahead of me and he has Lukaku. If I get Lukaku we will have 4 or even 5 attackers same if he gets Alli for Mane which seems the obvious transfer for a lot of people.

Walker over Rose because of 8 YCs?

Those that have Aguero and Ibra up front. It's likely that both will blank in gw26 (should UTD see off Hull in the league cup semifinals). Looking at their surrounding fixtures around that blank plus the fact that a dgw will follow at some point, I think it's best keeping and leaving on the bench for gw26. Might be best to to just start having one eye on that gw26 when making transfers now. Triple UTD plus Aguero and Amat could leave you with only 9 men and that's before you account for one of Liverpool or Arsenal blanking in that week too. If Liverpool take a commanding lead in the first leg over this break, a Pool mid or defender, on top of Aguero, Ibra, Amat, Jones etc will cause problems. Same goes for Arsenal players if Saints take a commanding lead over Pool in the first leg. Lallana/Firmino to Walcott/Ozil might be worth jumping on early, or not, depending on league cup semis.

The League Cup always gives us plenty of time to calculate the permutations. Good heads up but there's no real need to make any decisions now or try to second-guess the results.

        "second-guess the results." ?

Man Utd are playing Hull over 2 legs for a place in a Wembley Cup Final.

I dont think anybody needs to "second-guess the results" - Man Utd will have a blank in GW26

Ps: I am not a Man Utd fan

          • 17 Years
          9 years, 6 months ago

That's not my point. My point is you don't need to do this regardless of who's still in it - even if it is a foregone conclusion. You have time to get 11 players out for GW26 regardless even if you wait until the time the result becomes fact.

Mane, Zaha and Origi all have to go, which of the below options do you prefer if any?

    a) Giroud, Antonio & Phillips
    b) Giroud, Walcott & Stanislas
    c) Defoe, Alli & Stanislas

      I'd be looking 3-5-2, Kane>Barnes, Mutch>Alli, see what's left after that.

      2

I've been frustrated by Alonso's lack of attacking returns. Also think Cout back won't do Lallana any favours.

    Current Team:

    Cech / Pickford
    Alonso / Lovren / McAuley / Francis* / Holebas
    Sanchez / Firmino / Siggy / Snodgrass / Fletcher
    Ibra / Costa / Rondon

    I have 2 FTs and 1.3 ITB.

Anything else glaringly obvious? I dont want Giroud or Alli. Maybe

    - Siggy and Francis to Walcott and Chambers
    - Francis to Mustafi and saving the other.

Should I be eyeing up Hazard for GW22?

Sounds crazy but Alonso and Hazard > Baines and Stanislas leaves me enough cash for Rondon > Aguero.
Worth a -8? leaves me with,

Sanchez Alli Lallana Stanislas De Roon
    Aguero Ibra Costa

Man City's fixtures over the next two aren't great and you'll be missing Hazard against Hull. Not sure I'd do it for free, let alone a -8.

Hi All, had a great first half to the season and want to keep it up so what do you guys think of my team, what changes are needed? Got 1ft and 0.2ITB.

I'm thinking Carroll needs to go (after Palace), possibly Hazard, and I would quite like a defensive upgrade to Baines, Daniels, Chelsea or Arsenal. Also, keen on Coutinho (on return) and Alli (although I have Eriksen).

    What do you guys suggest?

    Heaton
    Lovren Pieters Walker
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Phillips
    Kun Zlatan Carroll
    (Jaku, Capoue, Evans, Amat)

Forget "coverage", that's really overrated here. Buy and sell the players who you think will suck or score more than others.
