Next this Saturday, we catch up on the member’s area statistics over the last three rounds of fixtures with our usual post-Gameweek article.

We assess the lay of the land at Arsenal as a result of Olivier Giroud’s first-team return before analysing Tottenham’s man of the moment and Manchester United’s pair of form players.

West Ham and Everton also play a part in our thinking ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Guys, How is this strategy for the coming weeks?

This week: Do Siggy --> Stanislas This week (For Free), 2.8 ITB

Hope for a 0.1 rise from somewhere and do

Ramirez --> Coutinho (For Free) the week next

Sounds good yet some other issue will likely pop up. Maybe switch Siggy to someone more decent; Lallana?

I can do that..but feel Coutinho would be a better option...will wait for the United fixture to get over..thanks! 🙂

Need some advice, which option looks the best ?

    A. Origi>Giroud -4 ( means I could go giroud>lukaku later on)
    B. Payet>Sanchez -4 (stuck with cheap third attacker, payet has palace at home)
    C. Don't take a hit

It's tough reading comments in this forum sometimes. Far too many people are 'flavor of the day' folks. It's boring. The talk about Aguero... why he's not worth his price, if he's on or off pens, my god. Endless. The fact is, Aguero may very well still be on pens for EPL games. It would be interesting to track the player most talked about player

Not in the side when both him and Walcott have been fit. Only starts the last 3 games because Walcott has been injured. Fairly clear he was not first choice. He's done well and it remains to be seen what Wenger does next. Nothing to do with being an owner or non-owner.

Team looks much better with Sanchez as striker

Wenger's yet to figure out a way to get the best out of both together,

Won't be surprised if Sanchez gets a match or two at striker again with Giroud coming off the bench

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sanchez get a match or two off once Walcott and Ozil are back, I'm sure Wenger will want to give him a little recharge before Bayen.

Swansea, Burnley, Watford, two home games, perfect time for it.

You'd have to assume that Wenger will want to go into that Bayen game with him at full pelt rather than hanging because he's exhausted.

Hey, I'm a Sanchez owner but my mind is not closed to the possibility, Bayen is a huge game, several 'easy' fixtures before that period start's because there's no time to rest him after it, the month during the Bayen games is horrific.

Giroud plays best when he has competition for his place, he plays badly when he knows he's getting an unchallenged run of games.

4 goals in 4 starts shows and the desire to hold on to his place now he's got it back shows some sort of motivation.

    2. Demel
      • 14 Years
      9 years, 6 months ago

Yes. I would lose Holgate. Hd isn't a starter. One of the Swansea 4m defenders would make more sense.

I would also downgrade Alonso to a cheap defender and upgrade Costa to Kun.

      1. GK
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 6 months ago

Hmm, maybe. Just not entirely convinced Kun is worth 2.2m more than Costa. That move would also leave me with no Chelsea players which is a worry!

        1. Demel
          • 14 Years
          9 years, 6 months ago

I don't think no Chelsea player is an issue (although I do still own Hazard). Costa isn't captain material and doesn't explode. Kun is and does explode. That is the additional amount you are pating for. Losing Alonso means that Brunt will play every week. I have owned Brunt since his first game back and (with worse fixtures) has outperformed Alonso. The fixtures are now switching. I don't see him as a bench defender.

I don't own him but if I did it would depend on if he was my 4th or 5th def. 5th def then I would look to downgrade him and free up cash. 4th defender then I would want an active defender. So no. Too expensive to rot as a 5th defender. Too near the starting line up if a 4th defender.

I meant more so in the actual Chelsea starting 11 that is everyone on here assuming he won't get a look-in

I don't see him starting ahead of Azpi, Luiz or Cahill. And he may well be behind Zouma. Bench (if lucky) for me.

Yeah. Wouldn't common sense say to you that with Conte publicly praising him and saying they might need him...he has a role planned for him? Alonso came off after 60 odd minutes against Spurs with Willian coming on. Moses often gets subbed too. I think that wingback position is one that Conte likes to refresh. Alonso has played a lot of games and does a lot of running...so I think at the very least Alonso will be seeing more reduced minutes.

Yeah, not close to being nailed at Chelsea in my opinion. Squad/rotation player.

I fancy he'll get minutes. Alonso is very average and I suspect Conte will drop him.

Well I don't rate Alonso at all and Ake played LB all last season at Watford. At the moment, if I was managing a team against Chelsea, I'd be throwing everything I had down that wing because I'd expect Alonso to mess up.

    Morngin everyone

Thoughts on that lot? Pretty template, went ultra heavy upfront and quite skinny at the back - havinh Love from SUN, plan is to downgrade Gibson to Chambers, and use the 0.4 mil to upgrade Love to a 4.4 def

    Heaton
    Rose, Love, Chambers
    Sanchez, Lallana, Alli, Phillips
    Kun Aguero, Ibra, Costa

That defence is just too weak for me. Swap Costs for Defoe and increase the value of the defence and you have a team. You can always downgrade a defender to bring in a KDB or Hazard if they look like exploding again for one of your 2 midfielders.

Yeah, actually was just playing with my team and came up with something similar. I may go for it, but instead Costa, I will keep Kun, i.e

        A):

        Heaton
        Rose, Baines, Alonso
        Sanchez, Lallana, Alli, Phillips
        Ibra, Aguero, Defoe

        B)

        Heaton
        Rose, Cahil, Gibson
        Couthinho, Sanchez, Lallana, Alli, Phillips
        Ibra, Aguero

Which one appeals more to you?

Lallana and Barnes to De roon and Defoe and is getting there. There is also too much of a rotation risk with your 3 cheap defenders.

Going to give up on Benteke with Giroud in this form.. 2FTs Allen + Benteke -> De Roon + Giroud, good transfers? Would give me this team..

    Alonso - Jones - Holebas

    Ibra - Costa - Giroud

Foster - De Roon - Nyom - Amat

That looks close to it allright... I would like to somehow get a chelsea & spurs defender, backed up by Brunt/Jones/Stones... I got Jones at. 4.7 which is fine for a 4th def & stones is now down to 4.7 also... Stones\Jones have alternating home games until end of season so a good sub for any injuries anywhere else on the pitch & very cheap.

Chelsea & Apurs defences really stand out in the league table goals against column - lots of CS's still to come imo!

Talking about Chelsea transfers, Craig Burley reckons Llorente is a goer.

He told ESPN FC: "This deal has gathered some legs over the past 24 hours.

"I think it could happen because, while [Diego] Costa's been great, we know that he can boil over at any second and the red mist comes down.

"Conte's talked about [Michy] Batshuayi being young and inexperienced and maybe not quite ready.

"I think this guy [Llorente] has experience, is a good target man and in a better team, you'd see a better Fernando Llorente.

"I think, as a squad player, this is definitely something that could happen to bolster Chelsea for the run-in for the title.

"And he wouldn't be particularly expensive either, you're not going to shell out millions and millions to get him.

"But he's going to give you somebody who could come on and change the dynamic."

He's a dreadful pundit. The sole reason for using him is he's ex-Chelsea, so if he's saying there's interest there he could well be getting that from somewhere in the club. Makes sense too seeing as Llorente was so good under Conte.
