A day for differentials.

Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and West Bromwich Albion’s Gareth McAuley are the only two players with more than 10% ownership to hit double-digits.

Firmino was teetering on the edge prior to the today’s deadline – owned by just over 456,000 FPL managers or 10.6% – the Brazilian had shed 340,000 since Gameweek 16.

Such losses are understandable, sparked by a dismal run of paltry returns. A single goal over ten barren Gameweeks – his strike in a 4-1 victory over Stoke City – did little to stem a tide of rejection. With Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana thriving, Firmino owners were switching allegiance or looking elsewhere as rival heavy-hitters delivered.

Today’s 14-points will reverse matters, for now at least. That fifth double-figure haul for Firmino ironically arrived on a day that saw Philippe Coutinho make a return to the Liverpool starting line-up. Withdrawn on 65 minutes, his comeback was curtailed as he gave way to allow his compatriot to take centre-stage.

While his two goals were not enough to save Liverpool from defeat, Firmino’s own Fantasy stock is revived, just as thousands were making or considering the move for his Brazilian team-mate.

But Coutinho’s early withdrawal has already proved enough to give some early adopters the jitters. Meanwhile, after suffering a third successive blank, Lallana has now returned just a single goal and an assist in six starts.

Based on early transfer activity, both are facing ownership losses over the extended gap to Gameweek 23, with this shifting affection from one Liverpool asset to another typical of behaviour this season.

Two prolonged spells of form from Coutinho’s and Lallana have come close to resolving the argument but, in truth, we look unlikely to ever settle on one of Klopp’s midfield as a dependable “solution”.

Perhaps the key question should be whether we should overlook them altogether.

Two draws and a defeat has stalled the Liverpool title bid, while over the last four Gameweeks, their attacking numbers are settled in mid-table. They face Chelsea next.

Sadio Mane’s absence appears to be a key factor and, arguably, until his return, we should reserve judgement, regardless of Firmino’s flurry.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No I wouldn't, just take a couple of -4 if you need to. Strong front, great midfield, poor defence (except goalies). This is bad because lots of defenders are scoring big.

Thinking of early trade Lallana to Alli and saving the other for injuries through family cup.

      Thoughts?

      Heaton
      Alonso / Baines / McAuley
      Sanchez / Hazard / Eriksen / Lallana / Phillips
      Ibrahimovic / Defoe

      Jakupovic / Friend / Pieters / Diamonde

Can't decide between Baines and Coleman. If Baines didn't have pens I would definitely pick Coleman but with those fixtures surely Everton will get a couple of pens. What is the general consensus. Coleman from open play seems more of a threat.

No matter how good a week I have, my rival in my work league has a better week. I got 38 points today and he got 40. There is no chance of me catching him now either as he is 155 points ahead of me. That said, he has used his WC this week so if I get lucky with the double game weeks, I might close the gap a bit. He is ranked about 20k in the overall ranks. So annoyed Rooney scored that goal (I have Grant)!

Am I the only one who thinks going Alli/Erik/Walker or Rose is a good shout rather than Kane?.. In a 3-5-2 it looks quite nice I think

Only issue being of course, will their defence be as strong now?.

      1. Ron_Swanson

Just totally decimates my side though due to the expense, already have Erik and Alli and I'm pleased with that combo.. Who's going to assist Kane, more than likely one of those two and they chip in with goals too. Giroud as long as he keeps his place and perhaps Lukaku with these nice upcoming fixtures could be handy alternatives

Yes, but his age is showing more than it should for a player of his style imo. He's slow.

I have a tie in a private cup, I have Azpi, Alonso, Monreal, Giroud & Costa vs 15 points.

I'm favourite only needing all 5 to play and 2 sorts of returns?

Oppo only needs 1 to play and return.

My bad. The point was he has much less to do to win, you need much more, but you have the players to do it.

Just did my 2x FT's on impulse, uh-oh. Did Allen (5th mid) & Evans (5th def) > Davies & Holgate to squeeze another 1.1m out of my bench... Now need to get thru FA cup week with no injuries.

Have 3.2m ITB & squad below, any obvious moves or hits?

      Heaton
      Alonso, Brunt, Jones
      Haz, Firmino, Ali, Phillips
      Ibra(c) Giroud, Lukaku
(Robinson, Friend, Davies, Holgate ) 3.2m ITB

Is Alonso - Rose - Baines - Brunt - Amat too defence-heavy considering now that Toby might be out? (Don't own Rose yet but he was my plan.)

De Roon (4.4) > Carroll (4.2)? 2FT and no other pressing issues.

How many overall points were you on last week? Now add on this week's points, take off your hits, and check your overall points - bet it all adds up.
