Cursed with a reputation of failing to deliver to form and fixture, while some have tried to dispel the myth, Romelu Lukaku chose today to slay it once and for all.

The stage was dressed and set for the Belgian.

With the fixture list driving his recruitment, there was a degree of forced faith in Lukaku.

Two blanks on the road had created an air of caution, but Everton’s home form was strong enough to offer real hope.

Bournemouth, as today’s visitors, were offering the biggest reason for optimism. Incredibly, Eddie Howe’s side arrived at Goodison Park having shipped 20 goals in their last ten outings, conceding three in six of those matches.

The script was meticulously scribed and, for once, Lukaku read and stuck to it perfectly.

It took him just 30 seconds to expose the Cherries frailties, ominously curling home a confident opener to tease the destruction that was to follow.

Bournemouth’s second half rally merely drew the sting from Everton, with Lukaku ending the match in riotous form.

Acquired by over 75,000 prior to today’s deadline, Lukaku boasted an ownership of 1.1 million FPL managers.

However, only 22% of those owners chose to back him with the captaincy, perhaps distracted by the lure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Harry Kane, having previously been stung by the Everton striker.

However, announcing himself this season with a hat-trick on Wearside, Lukaku chose Bournemouth as his next major victims and bullied them with a similar display of pace, power and finishing.

His 21-points ranks second only to Alexis Sanchez’ fabled London Stadium haul – Lukaku’s return today is the top individual score by any FPL forward.

With the fixtures remaining kind and with Gameweeks 26 and 28 booked in, his ownership and price will likely rocket.

However, while we can lavish praise his way this evening, we should not forget the frustration he can cause.

Stalling badly from Gameweek 11, Lukaku appeared stuck in a rut and unable to drag Everton from their Autumnal malaise.

But something clicked thereafter – perhaps the new arrivals on Merseyside, perhaps Ronald Koeman’s new formation – but the smile returned, and the energy and hunger came with it.

Incredibly, he now leads the Golden Boot race. Involved in 51% of Everton’s goals, boasting an almost identical points per match tally as both Diego Costa and Ibrahimovic and second only to Jermain Defoe for points per million value, the case for Lukaku is compelling.

Was there ever any doubts? Of course, but at least for tonight, we will conveniently forget the past.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So deadzone, has anyone here started to yet play with some hypothetical transfers over the next handful of weeks mainly GW28?

Now I know a lot can happen between now and GW28, but nonetheless it is still a bit of fun and a little sanity check to see what one can achieve should all the premier league teams win their FA cup round games. That would mean we potentially only have three games on!

I am looking at the following plan:

    1. Save a transfer in GW25 and GW27 for 2FTs to use in GW26 & GW28
    2. Keep some main core players to use after GW28
    3. Transfer out my fringe/bench players for a similar value to not screw myself over should the DGWs be later in the season.
    4. Try have a minimum of 8 players in GW28 should only three games be played.

With that hypothetical plan (remembering that FPL throws up spanners in the works all the time) I've tried to plan out my transfers to GW29, which is as follows:

    GW25
    Save transfer

    GW26 - 2FT
    Transfers: Sanchez+Pieters OUT > Siggy+Robertson IN
    Line up:
    Heaton
    Alonso Baines Brunt Robertson
    Eriksen Alli Siggy Phillips
    Lukaku Costa
Bench: Pick / Ibra De roon Amat

(Sanchez will drop in valve and hopefully enough by GW28 to bring him in for the same price as my sell value. Robertson/Pieters is similar value and Robertson plays both GW26/28 against wba & SWA)

    GW27:
    Save transfer

    GW28 - 2FTs:
    Transfers: Alli+De roon OUT > Snodgrass+Huddlestone IN
    Line up:
    (no GK)
    Baines Brunt Robertson Amat*
    Siggy Snodgrass Phillips Huddlestone
    Lukaku
Bench: Heaton Pick / Ibra Costa Eriksen Alonso

(Replacing De roon for Huddlestone is a very slight upgrade but doesn't hurt the bank. Especially when bringing Sanchez back in, and maybe Kane for Lukaku later which is affordable currently with my team value)

    GW29:
    Transfer: Phillips > Sanchez

Its a bit of a game plan, not sure how it will pan out, but I'll be monitoring these players and similar ones around their price ranges over the coming weeks and hopefully not too many spanners throw in there to screw everything up. It's all hypothetical at the moment, but feels a bit more sane having a little plan going forward. I also have my Wildcard/Bench Boost/Triple captain available to utilise some the DGWs later in the season, but currently my main focus is on cash leagues and finishing as high as possible!

I don't think so too much. GW29, my front 8 will be:
        Sanchez Eriksen Siggy Snodgrass
        Ibra Costa Lukaku

Siggy plays Bournemouth (away) whereas Snodgrass plays Leicester (home). Both actually have amazing fixture runs.

Burnley could get knocked out too and allow Heaton and Liverpool to play. Or Middlesbrough allowing Mid Sun to play. Those are the two most likely I think. If not I plan have the follows

      No keeper
      Coleman Brunt McAuley Mawson
      Stan Siggy Phillips
      Lukaku Carroll/Niasse

      Pickford/Heaton Alonso Erik Sanchez Kane

That would leave me 2 ft's going into 29 to get back some double GW players.

If United have a blank GW28, a big decision has to be made regarding Ibra in GW26. He plays Bournemouth home GW27 and at this stage looks clearly the best captain choice that week.

I can, I have the 0.1 to make Lallana Siggy this week. But that leaves me stuck with Benteke up front. I do have 2FT though, but Benteke would have to be Carroll or Defoe, not Lukaku. Would need a Sanchez downgrade to Siggy instead of Lallana.

After Chelsea, Burnley have four away games in a row. How does that work? Two sure, three maybe at a push (with DGW etc), but four?

Something to do with Liverpool playing all games away at start of the season cause of new stadium construction?

I was 3rd behind 30 points from the top 2 in my ML before the GW24, they both choose Kane (C) and I for some reason went for TrollKaku, I wokeup this morning and I am on the top of my ML. Wow massive 42 points haul from Trolkaku. This could be turning point for me in this season, now I just have to cover all the basis and not take too many risks, hold tight and ride the wave all the way to end of the season.

Thought so, but Carrol's game time is the only concern

Double Everton defence, no Lukaku, no hazard, could this week have gone any worse?

        Yep
        Giroud scoring a Hattrick
        Alonso getting 0 points
        West brom losing CS

FFS would have been in meltdown 😛

I didn't have any west brom thanks to Evans and don't have alonso, on a massive 35 points with Ibra left with a good team I feel..!

Would really appreciate thoughts on potential transfers.
      1FT - 2.1ITB

      Mannone (Heaton)
McAuley - Coleman - Koscielny (Amat - Pieters)
Alli - Lallana - Eriksen - Sanchez (De Roon)
      Ibra - Lukaku - Deeney

Was thinking Lallana -> Haz and downgrading Koscielny, but Arsenal have HULL next.

      Cheers in advance

      Benched Robertson (6pts), played Yoshida (1pt) 😎

To make things worse, my transfer a few weeks back was Kone (having had him since GW3) to Yoshida.

If I just kept Kone, I'd be up 20pts 😛

If I just captained Lukakuast night like I have already 2 times this season for his brace and Hattrick I would be 15 points up and benched Alonso and Played double Everton Defence 😛 .Count them too

Kane is such a better choice than others seem to think.

Spurs v Pool will be wide open, I think. I see a lot of chances for ol' Harry.

        I'd go 2-4-1-3.

If Aguero tears it up today, there is going to be complete carnage.

How would you get this lot in your team:

        Aguero - Zlatan - Costa - Kane - Lukaku - Defoe
