Tuesday kick-starts the second set of Champions League last sixteen matches and presents another opportunity to sign up and win big cash prizes with DraftKings.

The process is simple: Register a new account on DrafTKings.com and make a minimum deposit of $5 then you will get your free entry to a paid contest. You are then well on your way to selecting your eight-man squad.

DraftKings have set up another exclusive Fantasy Football Scout contest for this round of matches – the FFS League is free to play with a $500 prize pot.

Select your eight-man squad and register your account to get free entry to our League. Cash prizes are available right down to 128th place.

These is also a huge $20,000* in total prizes available in the DraftKings “Clean Sheet” Champions League contest. The top manager will have an opportunity to claim a $3,000* cash prize and prizes will be given from 1st to 140th place.

“Saramek”, a UK-based DraftKings manager from Congleton, got involved and claimed top spot in last week’s $25k Valentine’s Day Special Champions League contest.

His winning line-up (below) included no less than five of Bayern Munich’s star performers from their 5-1 drubbing of Arsenal, helping him to a $5000 prize.

If you’re new to DraftKings, we’ve got a handy strategy guide which will introduce you to basics of squad selection.

For further assistance, here’s our selection of player picks over Tuesday and Wednesday’s matches to form the core of your squad.

Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Manchester City vs Monaco
Bayer Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid

Jan Oblak – Atletico Madrid – $5,000 – G
Having recovered faster than expected from a shoulder injury, the Slovenian is back in training ahead of Atletico’s trip to Germany.

Oblak conceded just a single goal in the six group matches and should get the nod if fit, though deputy Angel Moya ($4,900) has been a respectable stand-in – he’s registered 11.3 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) in DraftKings over eight matches, which included 24 saves and five clean sheets.

Benjamin Mendy – Monaco – $4,200 – D
A strong return of 77 crosses (worth 0.75 points each) in nine DraftKings matches has helped the Monaco man build an FPPG of 14.1 this term.

Priced favourably, Mendy still looks a very viable option ahead of a trip to Manchester City – the raiding left-back has racked up seven assists in 19 Ligue 1 and Champions League outings so far.

Raheem Sterling – Manchester City – $7,600 – M/F
While an injury to Gabriel Jesus has left City reeling, Sterling’s recent form raises his stock as Pep Guardiola’s men welcome Monaco to the Etihad.

The winger is far kinder on the budget than Kevin De Bruyne ($9,000, M/F) and Sergio Aguero ($9,200, F) and has markedly upped his consistency in recent matches, producing a goal or assist in eight of the last ten league outings.

Yannick Carrasco – Atletico Madrid – $7,900 – M/F
Atletico travel to a Bayer Leverkusen side that have underperformed this season, drawing four group stage ties and losing more matches than they’ve won in the Bundesliga.

While we were tempted by Antoine Griezmann ($8,300), Carrasco is our preferred pick from Diego Simeone’s side. He had 11 goals, four assists, 55 crosses and 20 interceptions in 31 DraftKings appearances. That showcases his all-round ability, while a goal and an assist against Celta Vigo last weekend emphasises the Belgian’s current form.

Karim Bellarabi – Bayer Leverkusen – $5,500 – M/F
With playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu banned for the rest of the season due to a contract dispute, his fellow wide man offers a cut-price route into a Leverkusen attack that has scored at least twice in four successive home matches across all competitions.

Bellarabi has bagged three assists in his last two home outings, including two in a weekend win over Eintracht Frankfurt, where he also supplied six crosses from his role on the right.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Porto vs Juventus
Sevilla vs Leicester City

Sergio Rico – Sevilla – $5,600 – G
The Sevilla number one boasts an impressive 10.3 FPPG ahead of a visit from goal-shy Leicester City next Wednesday.

Rico has produced 12 clean sheets and 88 saves in 26 outings across all competitions and will fancy his chances of shutout number 13 against a Foxes outfit that has scored a single goal in their last eight Premier League matches.

Dani Alves – Juventus – $5,000 – D
The summer signing from Barcelona gets the nod due to his DraftKings points potential at both ends of the pitch. Flourishing as a right wing-back in Juventus’ 3-5-2 set-up, Alves has provided 80 crosses over 21 appearances in all competitions, with an average of 1.9 crosses per Serie A match more than any team-mate.

However, it’s the Brazilian’s encouraging defensive actions that set him apart ahead of the trip to Porto. A total of 45 tackles won (each provide +1 Point in DraftKings) and 33 interceptions (+0.5 points) make Alves a prime candidate for inclusion in our rosters.

Wilfred Ndidi – Leicester City – $4,400 – M
Leicester’s dire domestic forms makes it difficult to recommend any of the Foxes attackers, though the ball-winning ability of their winter signing from Belgian side Gent could prove value for money.

Averaging 8.8 FPPG, Ndidi made more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the group stages of the Europa League before making his way to the King Power, suggesting that Claudio Ranieri may have finally found his replacement for N’Golo Kante in the centre of the park.

Gonzalo Higuain – Juventus – $8,500
The Argentinian has settled seamlessly in Turin after a controversial switch from Napoli over the summer.

Higuain may be the third most expensive forward on offer for the midweek matches yet his record since arriving at the Old Lady is hard to overlook. Three goals in five Champions League group stage appearances and 18 strikes in 24 Serie A outings makes him our go-to option for the trip to Porto.

Andre Silva – Porto – $6,800 – F
Four goals and two assists over the group stages underlines Silva’s importance to Porto ahead of the showdown with Juventus.

A single goal against in their last six in all competitions shows that the Serie A side will be a tough nut to crack but if their hosts are to stand any chance of progressing, Silva – with an FPPG average of 15.5 – will surely be key.

    Sanchez Eriksen Alli Sigurdsson Phillips
    Lukaku Defoe Diomande
    4.1 itb 1ft.
Sanchez to Mané seems obvious for ft, but then I have money to do
Diomande to Costa for a hit. I will have to play Phillips (2 pointer) so would you think its worth it?
    A) Yes
    B) No hit and get someone next week who plays gw28.

depends if you can spare the 2ft and how well your team is set up for gw28

    2. AndyCook

I thought about this but it's a lot of transfers. If Kane bangs them in against Stoke then I might do that but if he's quiet might swap to Ibra and maybe stay that way.

Evening all, what has the general consensus been on here regarding Stanislas? I'm not getting rid yet but if he doesn't play then i will have Pieters v spurs this week, seems a prime time to take a hit to get robertson/Maguire in for the gw28

    Best move to make?

    A Stanislas > Coutinho
    B Ali > Mane
    C Sanchez > Mane

I think Stanislas needs to go first, although he has no blank he's can't get a start so no point keeping.

    Which transfer should I do?

    A) Ali, Sanchez, Barnes --> Snodgrass, Firmino, Lukaku

    B) Zlatan, Sanchez, Stanislas --> Lukaku, Firmino, Snodgrass

Second option means I prob won't own Kane and Zlatan GW27

Barnes has a game in GW28 and Zlatan & Sanchez both only play in 1 GW out of the next three so for me the second option makes the most sense.

    3. AndyCook
      9 years, 4 months ago

Not a fan of either really. Snodgrass a bit short term maybe, has games rather than form, and sounds like it would be so hard to get Sanchez back. You love a transfer though don't you!

      1. AndyCook

I have 6 in GW28 and 0 FTs. I'm taking a -8 for guys who do not have fixtures in GW28.

I will hopefully roll a FT for GW27 and then do a -8 to clean up my bench fodders and take a punt on a one week wonder.

I don't think I'm doing things like most.

I can only get 8 without hits. I am not averse to taking hits but, to be honest, not sure I am even going to bother. I can't think of 10 players I would want, never mind 11.

    8. AndyCook
      9 years, 4 months ago

Not a full 11, not taking hits as that would mean swapping bench fodder who will likely get 2's. Would have Amat and De Roon and 0.5M to reinvent - not exactly inspiring!

I'll need to take 1 hit in order to make a transition from 28 to 29 and the DGWs. This hit also adds 1 player to the GW28 squad, so I look at it as -2 instead of -4. Haven't taken a hit since GW20, but as soon as Holebas and Robertson reach target I'm pulling it off.

At the end of the day a player with a single game in week 28 and in a dgw plays the same amount as a player with a blank and then a dgw but rotation is more likely in a dgw

true, but it's not just about the doubles.

I can field either 11 with no rolled FT, with Alli, Sanches and Ibra on the bench.

        or

10 with a rolled, and four quailty non blank week players on the bench.

It effectively get's you two non blank week players ahead of those that field 11 with no rolled FT, when it comes to restructuring your team for GW29 to GW33, as well as for the DGW's.

The fact that your gaining 2pts as say a bottom line minimum over no player in 28 makes even -4pt hits a fairly calculated gamble.

A lot of what I've read on here is if you have 11 your team will be full of crap players, em no. My gw28 side is really good.

If you have 11 you will have a team full of dead weight..um again, no.

People doing the whole trying to convince themselves something isn't worthwhile because they aren't in great shape for it.

      I love the blank weeks.

Last year the clear choice was between a GW33 and GW36 WC, but you could only really consider the GW36 WC if you had sufficient DGWers for GW34. Many didn't have enough DGWers for GW34, and using the mentality Hibbo describes ("People doing the whole trying to convince themselves something isn't worthwhile because they aren't in great shape for it"), accordingly dismissed the GW36 WC as a viable option (in some cases rather embarrassingly), when in reality it was pretty obvious it was an option, and in the end turned out pretty well for most that took that option.

It happens in the small doubles too.

I don't want Charlie Austin or Benteke, um wait a minute did they not haul the points clean out of that DGW? Yes, they did I owned both because by nature I'm a gambler and blanks / dgws are a numbers and quality exercise.

Don't buy the ticket you can't win. Buy it you can lose. Buy it you can win let's see how much.

I hope Middlesbrough end up in a small DGW. Lol.

And I can bench defenders or play the one with set piece upside.

Agree re: the fixtures and then the blank mission is complete and I start to move towards rescheduled fixtures.

Sure could do kun to them in 28 but then that makes th ewhole thing an effective -8 so no thanks

I'm making a gw27 play which isn't part of covering the gw28 blanks.

I think anyone reasonably well set has the option especially if they plan to captain the player they are bringing in.

keeping an eye on GW29 &30.
I've had 3 WBA for a while. If there wasn't blanks then I wouldn't want 3 of them away at Everton.
Liverpool makes it easier to get in players for GW28 as they are still useful after GW28.
Not sure how many high scoring players I can see in GW28.
Not keeping an eye on the doubles at all atm - still potentially 6 transfers between GW28 and 1st set of DGWs.

Those with 11 players come GW 28 – Do you have 4 or 5 players wrapped up in one game? I.E: 2 or 3 West Brom / Everton?

If that is the case then by virtue of that fact then surely 2 or 3 of those players will cancel out the other 2 or 3.

Lukaku / Philips vs Brunt / Coleman and visa versa ... Or are you hoping for attacking returns from all involved? Seems to me that having 11 players with so many wrapped up in one game isn't all its cracked up to be?

I really wanna get Defoe out of my team.
    A) Save, and get Carroll/Niasse in before gw 28.
    B) Defoe > Costa/Kane for a hit.

Anything worth a hit this week, or just let de Roon or Pieters cover Holgate etc? Bit concerned I only have 6 GW28 players ATM (inc a dodgy Holgate)...Thoughts appreciated- Cheers!

    B. Pieters

looks good for gw 26, however your going to need to take atleast 2 hits if you want have a good chance of fielding a decent number of players for gw 28.

After that Sanchez blank away to Sutton, surely Sanchez - > Mane is a no brainer?

Right is it safe to do Sanchez to Liverpool mid tonight or any reason to wait?

if you have spurs or united assets you may want to wait till Thursday evening as they may get injured playing Europe and this may change your transfers unless you are willing to take a hit incase an injury does happen

Do we know any more about Lukaku injury? Seems not to be serious, but best to wait until press conference than take a hit?

Stanislas turning into a waste of space in that regard. Ill play him and hope Howe starts him. Cant see Allen getting anything at Tottenham. Neither Siggy vs Chelsea but oh well
