Manchester City have this afternoon announced news that potentially sets up a double Gameweek 27.

The Premier League fixture bulletin published by City confirms that, should City progress past Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, their fixture with Stoke City will shift back from March 11, to March 8.

This would move it from Gameweek 28 to within Gameweek 27. Pep Guardiola’s men would, therefore, face a trip to Sunderland, paired with that home tie with the Potters – a hugely appealing double header.

Mark Hughes’ side, meanwhile, would host Middlesbrough prior to visiting the Etihad.

The news completely transforms the current landscape of fixtures and impacts our short-term strategies.

City will face Huddersfield in their replay next Wednesday and, should they progress to the last eight of the FA Cup as expected, the double Gameweek 27 will be confirmed.

This will immediately promote their assets – particularly in attack – and likely re-align our plans ahead of Gameweek 28.

Certainly, City’s display in last night’s Champions League win over Monaco serves as a handy showcase for the form of their attacking talents.

With Gabriel Jesus now stuck in the treatment room for two-to-three months, Sergio Aguero retuned to form with a bang and his two goals and assist against the French outfit will have many now forging plans for his acquisition.

Should City progress, the allure of handing Aguero the armband in a double Gameweek will prove irresistible for many.

The performances of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on either side of the Argentine last night won’t have gone unnoticed either.

Both bagged a goal and assist against the Ligue 1 club and, with form very much on their side, offer more budget-friendly options at £7.8m and £7.5m respectively in FPL for those who may baulk at Aguero’s £12.7m price tag.

Serving up a goal or assist in eight of his last ten league outings, Sterling has proven to be one of the most consistent midfield picks in recent months, while Sane’s two goals and a pair of assists in five underlines the German’s improved showings on the flank.

With Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and spot-kick taker Yaya Toure also vying for our attention, there’s plenty for us to consider if City can clinch that spot in the last eight next midweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Like Man City v Stoke, I believe Chelsea v Watford can be scheduled in any GW which has a free midweek, and not only in GW 34, right?

They bent last season and are bending again now, don't look like they are that strict over it anymore.

GW34 and GW37 are the only completely free midweeks, but City, like United, Arsenal and Southampton, could have 3 matches to rearrange. Last season Everton were the only team in this position.

Other teams such as Chelsea have no reason to play their rearranged matches outside GW34 and GW37.
Clashing with UEFA matches will incur a fine, and is only reasonable if there is no better alternative.

Wouldn't be so sure about that mate.

He will still be massively owned and his fixture won't become worse.

Any big gains from Aguero could be off set by not owning Ibra for a big captaincy haul.

Losing Ibra for Aguero seems like a dangerous risk to me simply because of Ibra's ownership and those who won't TC/C/be able to afford Aguero will still captain Ibra.

Imagine next week getting Aguero for a hit and TC'ing him.

And then he starts vs Stoke and gets nothing, benched vs Sunderland (and no need to come on)

    Net return = 2pts

TC blow and stuck with Kun blanking next game.

I know it makes sense to have city players for a DGW in gw27 but this means 5 games in 13 days for city so there will be more rotation than usual.

      March 5th Sunderland (a)
      March 8th stoke (h)
March 11th boro (a) fa cup ((if they win replay)
      March 15th Monaco (a) CL
      March 18th Liverpool (h)

Doubt if any player will play all 5, it will depend where peps priorities lie (dare not underestimate Monaco in CL) and only one match from fa cup semi at Wembley. Surely he will field his best team for these matches.

      Proceed with caution.

Surely Costa should outscore Ibra over the next 2 GWS (26 & 27)?

By doing Ibra > Costa this week, I free up enough cash for Lukaku/non playing 5th mid/non playing 3rd striker > Aguero/Sterling/Crouch.

If City don't get the doubles then I'd swap Costa back to Ibra for 27. Good moves?

I have been playing 442 formation, hence benched 5th mid and 3rd striker.

Im tempted to save and just play Phillips now. Mane has tough game gw27 but Sterling DGW. McAuley might just do as well this week (for me, dont know if you can field 11?) 2ft next week might come handy depending on MCI situation
