Manchester City have this afternoon announced news that potentially sets up a double Gameweek 27.

The Premier League fixture bulletin published by City confirms that, should City progress past Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, their fixture with Stoke City will shift back from March 11, to March 8.

This would move it from Gameweek 28 to within Gameweek 27. Pep Guardiola’s men would, therefore, face a trip to Sunderland, paired with that home tie with the Potters – a hugely appealing double header.

Mark Hughes’ side, meanwhile, would host Middlesbrough prior to visiting the Etihad.

The news completely transforms the current landscape of fixtures and impacts our short-term strategies.

City will face Huddersfield in their replay next Wednesday and, should they progress to the last eight of the FA Cup as expected, the double Gameweek 27 will be confirmed.

This will immediately promote their assets – particularly in attack – and likely re-align our plans ahead of Gameweek 28.

Certainly, City’s display in last night’s Champions League win over Monaco serves as a handy showcase for the form of their attacking talents.

With Gabriel Jesus now stuck in the treatment room for two-to-three months, Sergio Aguero retuned to form with a bang and his two goals and assist against the French outfit will have many now forging plans for his acquisition.

Should City progress, the allure of handing Aguero the armband in a double Gameweek will prove irresistible for many.

The performances of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on either side of the Argentine last night won’t have gone unnoticed either.

Both bagged a goal and assist against the Ligue 1 club and, with form very much on their side, offer more budget-friendly options at £7.8m and £7.5m respectively in FPL for those who may baulk at Aguero’s £12.7m price tag.

Serving up a goal or assist in eight of his last ten league outings, Sterling has proven to be one of the most consistent midfield picks in recent months, while Sane’s two goals and a pair of assists in five underlines the German’s improved showings on the flank.

With Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and spot-kick taker Yaya Toure also vying for our attention, there’s plenty for us to consider if City can clinch that spot in the last eight next midweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Next week Kane \ Alli to Aguero / KdB seems a no brainer right ??

    Especially given spurs have Everton which is tough. And my other Mids forwards are either Peter crouch or all play in 28 (mane Firmino crouch Fletcher Lukaku Sig )

      Then in 28 can bench the two city players and transfer Amat to Hull defender and field 11 then

      Last season I've done a similar trade on one of the double GWs. Alli had single game, ended up scoring two, his replacement, can't remember the name, ended up blanking on the first game and benched for the second. Cost me my ML.

      1. Very.

      2. Relatively advanced for a full back. But he is still a full back and you are largely relying on pens.

      I would still favour him over hendo though would stretch to Lallana if you can

    What's the point? You get a City player for GW27, then they have a blank in GW28 when you may well be short of players. You'll have plenty of other DGWs without having it followed by a blank when you need all the players you can get.

    Thing is assuming, like me, you're gonna be short handed in GW28, every City player you bring in for GW27 means one less player for GW28 so they cancel each other out and the number of games is the same overall except that you're down on the deal if Pep rotates.

    Is that right?

    Says to me, you get one to captain them but may not be worth getting anymore

      Two hits for two extra games in gw27 and gw28 could be a nice discounted gamble to take though? Plans do not have to change for gw28 -- just the price to field the desired # of players (hits minus extra games and whatever resulting production).

      I've got a plan which involves -8 27, -4 28 and means I have 4 DGW players 27 followed by 11 in 28. In that case do you think it might be worth it?

      1. Numb

          Hm, the TC button on Aguero could be the defining moment in the season. Could always do -4, -4 and just go without Stones (probably for the best anyway)

            Don't think the hit's are worth it. City have 2 games over GW's 27 and 28, but so do players from 8 teams who have a game in both weeks. It just gives you more options and an extra game from a captain (which the rest of us will probably have).

      You will gain an extra match (two if captain) over the two GW's, for ever City player you bring in, providing they play twice.

        Yep could be a really good differential TC.

        But Kelechi threatening his spot might get a rest. How many days between the fixtures do we know? and is this DGW 100% for city?

          It's confirmed as long as they beat Huddersfield in cup. They are basicslly moving the Stoke game back 3 days.

          I think (and hope) Aguero is likely to be rested against Huddersfield in replay and maybe also in next round game v a Middlesbrough.

        Fortunately I have Grant and Crouch 🙂
        Btw, will Crouch retain his place in the starting XI ahead of Berahino?

        Really wish Liverpool had a good striker for week 28.
        Wk 27 Kane > Aguero
        Wk 28 Aguero > ?

        Wasted a FT with Carroll in for Jesus. Should have waited as wouldnt have lost any value either!!!

        GRR

        I may as well bring Maguire of Ake now so I can field 11 as I can only field 10 without him anyway...

        It's annoying but better to have the hit cost -2 (if Maguire only scored 2) than -4....

        Okay . So people are panicking only because city have a blank-dgw-blank ?
        Bringing in city players just for dgw?

        People pressing the panic button and bringing in city players are well , I don't know . Personally it doesn't effect me.at all, and tbh city aren't even playing that great to even consider 3 City players
        If I would want a city player, it would only be sterling, rest everyone are a doubt under pep.

            Exactly. The way some people are reacting is like Manchester united or Arsenal are been given a dgw out of nowhere and they are without ibra, sanchez

          No aguero vs Stoke and Sunderland. Too good a captain opportunity to pass up.

          If Aguero plays both games he could easily score 3 over the 2 fixture.

          He's a great captaincy option that week.

            Thats a big IF.
            And how come , suddenly aguero becomes a great captain option? We all have seen pep doesn't like aguero, and nacho can start in one of the matches .
            I wouldn't bring aguero in by any means.
            The only player I would want is sterling

        Which combo of transfers is best:

        A)
        GW26: Sanchez -> Mane
        GW27: Kane, Erikson (-4) -> Aguero, Sane
        GW28: Play Holgate 5th def (hope he starts) giving me 10 players

        B)
        GW26: Sanchez, Holgate (-4) -> Firmino/Lallana/Coutinho, Funes Mori
        GW27: Lukaku, Erikson (-4) -> Aguero, Sterling (have Kane vs EVE)
        GW28: Aguero -> Lukaku - 10 definite players

          Think you are gambling on holgate not playing and fm getting a sheet in 28? Though he could get a sheet in 26. It's close

            Was pretty set on getting Coleman in before the City news just as a guarantee for points. I guess not having Holgate play is better than taking a hit for the same clean sheet = +2 points after the hit anyway.

            You reckon both Spurs boys out is better than switching Lukaku out and in?
