Manchester City have this afternoon announced news that potentially sets up a double Gameweek 27.

The Premier League fixture bulletin published by City confirms that, should City progress past Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, their fixture with Stoke City will shift back from March 11, to March 8.

This would move it from Gameweek 28 to within Gameweek 27. Pep Guardiola’s men would, therefore, face a trip to Sunderland, paired with that home tie with the Potters – a hugely appealing double header.

Mark Hughes’ side, meanwhile, would host Middlesbrough prior to visiting the Etihad.

The news completely transforms the current landscape of fixtures and impacts our short-term strategies.

City will face Huddersfield in their replay next Wednesday and, should they progress to the last eight of the FA Cup as expected, the double Gameweek 27 will be confirmed.

This will immediately promote their assets – particularly in attack – and likely re-align our plans ahead of Gameweek 28.

Certainly, City’s display in last night’s Champions League win over Monaco serves as a handy showcase for the form of their attacking talents.

With Gabriel Jesus now stuck in the treatment room for two-to-three months, Sergio Aguero retuned to form with a bang and his two goals and assist against the French outfit will have many now forging plans for his acquisition.

Should City progress, the allure of handing Aguero the armband in a double Gameweek will prove irresistible for many.

The performances of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on either side of the Argentine last night won’t have gone unnoticed either.

Both bagged a goal and assist against the Ligue 1 club and, with form very much on their side, offer more budget-friendly options at £7.8m and £7.5m respectively in FPL for those who may baulk at Aguero’s £12.7m price tag.

Serving up a goal or assist in eight of his last ten league outings, Sterling has proven to be one of the most consistent midfield picks in recent months, while Sane’s two goals and a pair of assists in five underlines the German’s improved showings on the flank.

With Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and spot-kick taker Yaya Toure also vying for our attention, there’s plenty for us to consider if City can clinch that spot in the last eight next midweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sure he might. However, he seems to be getting very little playing time of late, and Aguero may have found some form with his brace. The other question is without 180 minutes, how many points might Aguero score over those two games. Could be 4 or could be 20+. Seems worth the risk to find out.

Which players would you really want for GW28?

    Mine:
    Lukaku

    Mane
    Firmino

    Any others?

Mawson is known for being a scoring CB. He has come in to the team with good fixtures and improved form and has started scoring goals. No brainer.
Maguire and Robertson have attacking stats and are also under a defensively much improved side.

Resigned to the Sanchez drop but that was when I wanted to get Mane, Costa and double up on Liverpool mids. Well, Kun changes all that. I won't make my transfers until Friday night and they'll almost certainly not be the same ones. Price changes irrelevant now.

My strikers at the moment are Costa, Ibra & Kun, I was planning on doing Kun to Lukaku with my FT to ensure I have 11 players this week but now I'm not to sure. What would you do?

Probably Costa or Ibra for Lukaku now?

To refine that, prob Costa. Ibra got a nap in 27.

No reason to - Chelsea and Watford both only have max 2 DGWs so can play 34/37

Chelsea in FA Cup doesn't allow 34.

Even Man City are in the same position as Chelsea.

Is it worth shipping Hazard for KDB/Sterling/Sane in GW27? Would likely be a 4 point hit.

              What you think of this?

              27: -4 Lukaku + Eriksen -> Sterling + Aguero (C)
              28: -4 Aguero + Sterling -> Sigurdsson + Lukaku (C)

Could do yes. Probably pay for itself. If sterling hits 10 points

Aguero was awful last night, made to look brilliant by some very shoddy keeping and defending. I don't see whats suddenly made him a prime asset?, or is it clinging on to old memories, more notably his 25 pointer dgw last year.

Would have been an awful FPL 13 pointer, yes.

His second goal and his assist were great last night

If awful gets you 2 goals and an assist, god forbid he has a good game. And talking of shoddy defending, you couldn't pick a better DGW than Sunderland and Stoke

So yeah, makes sense to get him in for a couple of awful games against shoddy defences 🙂
