Manchester City have this afternoon announced news that potentially sets up a double Gameweek 27.

The Premier League fixture bulletin published by City confirms that, should City progress past Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, their fixture with Stoke City will shift back from March 11, to March 8.

This would move it from Gameweek 28 to within Gameweek 27. Pep Guardiola’s men would, therefore, face a trip to Sunderland, paired with that home tie with the Potters – a hugely appealing double header.

Mark Hughes’ side, meanwhile, would host Middlesbrough prior to visiting the Etihad.

The news completely transforms the current landscape of fixtures and impacts our short-term strategies.

City will face Huddersfield in their replay next Wednesday and, should they progress to the last eight of the FA Cup as expected, the double Gameweek 27 will be confirmed.

This will immediately promote their assets – particularly in attack – and likely re-align our plans ahead of Gameweek 28.

Certainly, City’s display in last night’s Champions League win over Monaco serves as a handy showcase for the form of their attacking talents.

With Gabriel Jesus now stuck in the treatment room for two-to-three months, Sergio Aguero retuned to form with a bang and his two goals and assist against the French outfit will have many now forging plans for his acquisition.

Should City progress, the allure of handing Aguero the armband in a double Gameweek will prove irresistible for many.

The performances of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on either side of the Argentine last night won’t have gone unnoticed either.

Both bagged a goal and assist against the Ligue 1 club and, with form very much on their side, offer more budget-friendly options at £7.8m and £7.5m respectively in FPL for those who may baulk at Aguero’s £12.7m price tag.

Serving up a goal or assist in eight of his last ten league outings, Sterling has proven to be one of the most consistent midfield picks in recent months, while Sane’s two goals and a pair of assists in five underlines the German’s improved showings on the flank.

With Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and spot-kick taker Yaya Toure also vying for our attention, there’s plenty for us to consider if City can clinch that spot in the last eight next midweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Haven't been around the last week or so haven't really been able to keep up with which teams have blanks, DGW's etc.

I have 2 FT with 2.6m ITB with the following squad, any suggestions?

    Jakupovic l Grant
    Walker l Baines l Brunt l Friend l Amat
    Sanchez l Eriksen l Alli l Phillips l Capoue
    Ibra l Lukaku l Rondon

At least Sterling and Aguero aren't rising. If you've got the exact money for planned moves, that's a big help.

Sensible indeed. Although Spurs fixtures are great after 28/29. Worth crossing that bridge when we get there I guess.

I'm doing Eriksen to Sterling probably for free.

Hazard and Lukaku to Sterling and Aguero TC in GW27.

      GW28 Aguero back to Lukaku

      Looks simple on paper.

Hey guys love some help with this

    Jaku
    Brunt Williams Walker
    Alli Mane Eriksen Philips Capoue
    Lukaku Giroud**

Foster Pieters Amat Ibra 1 FT 2.5 ITB

    A) Giroud --> Costa
    B) Something else?
    C) Save and play Pieters

This DGW for City certainly throws a spanner in the works

    GW26 Phillips (BOU) ➡ GW27 Sterling (sun & STK) ➡ GW28 Siggy (hul)

Would be my plan for the DGW. Sound plan?

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Sensible but Siggy on penalties and free kicks could outscore Sterling in GW27 who may only play 1 or 1.5 of those matches... so how valuable is that extra transfer or -4...

If you can't get 11 out for GW28 is it even worth bringing in DGW players for hits given that they blank in GW28? Shouldn't the focus be on getting 11 out for GW28?

    1. greghammer95
      • 16 Years
      9 years, 5 months ago

      Nope, not for me anyways.

There is such a limitation of options in 28 it seems silly to bring in 11 players anyways. Most happy with 9 or 10. In my case I'm simply getting rid of someone that blanked in 28 anyways. Glad I saved the FT now.

I'd imagine 6 players will be above average in GW28. Overall, the ownership of players from BUR, HUL, BOU, WHU, WBA, SWA, LIV and EVE isn't that high. I bet someone could work it out using the % selected by statistics.

Depends on how you'd get them in (e.g. Aguero instead of Ibra for 27 or something, both blank in 28)

I know this question has been up before, but if money is no issue:

    A) Costa
    SWA (H)
    WHU (A)
    STK (A)
    CRY (H)

    B) Kane
    STK (H)
    EVE (H)
    BLANK
    SOU (H)
    BUR (A)

I feel Costa has better fixtures and seems like a bigger threat.

Triple Captain is like saving a fine bottle of wine for a special occasion.

I've been waiting all season for one and it's finally come up, but is the occasion special enough? I'm not so sure. How special does the occasion have to be to use the TC chip. At this rate I'll end up leaving it in the cupboard until it's too late.

WHEN DO YOU GET THE WINE OUT?
