While all the pre-deadline chatter centred around our confidence, or otherwise, in Sergio Aguero, it is ironic that, hours later, we’re left pondering the future prospects of two of our season’s most reliable heavy-hitters.

Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic had been earmarked as an obvious target for the Gameweek 27 armband. Bournemouth’s visit to Old Trafford appeared to present a perfect scenario for the Swede: finally, he seemed poised to deliver that 15-20 point haul that would show that he could rival any asset for big “explosive” scores.

With the Cherries defence visibly shaken by United’s early forays, it appeared that Ibrahimovic would be given that opportunity. But, instead, he was to suffer his most torrid performance of the season, returning his lowest FPL tally.

To compound matters, an errant elbow into the cheek of Tyrone Mings seems likely to be reviewed and potentially punished by the FA. That could result in a three-match ban, ruling Ibrahimovic out of Gameweeks 29 and 30.

Already missing Gameweek 28 as a result of United’s FA Cup Quarter Final with Chelsea – another match he would miss should a charge and ban arrive – Ibrahimovic has already been sold more than any other asset since the passing of today’s deadline.

While he would certainly become an obvious target once United’s double Gameweek fixtures drop in place, up until that point, he now looks set to flood out of squads, declining in ownership and price.

Certainly, should Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane impress, along with Romelu Lukaku and Diego Costa, in tomorrow’s matches, then a new front three template will likely form without Ibrahimovic.

It’s again ironic that Aguero saved legions of Fantasy Premier League managers from suffering the indignity of a doubling his -1 contribution. With the focus on skippering the City man, we had a new and obvious alternative for the captaincy.

Today’s outcome also created further doubt that, even in a double Gameweek scenario, Ibrahimovic could struggle to rival the promise of Aguero, Kane or Sanchez when it comes to dealing the Triple Captain chip.

But Sanchez produced his own shockwaves, having been ousted to the bench by Arsene Wenger for the evening trip to Liverpool.

While the Chilean impressed and produced an assist from the bench, Wenger’s almost inexplicable decision was unexpected and unwelcome.

Those who turned the back on the Aguero Triple Captain option, banking on the inevitable Sanchez double Gameweek to come, now have to consider that Giroud’s pitch time remains a factor. There will also be further speculation on the relationship between player and manager, while Arsenal’s erratic form and morale remains a concern.

No doubt targeted for an early return to our squads from Gameweek 29 onwards, tonight’s teamsheet and lacklustre first-half from the Gunners may just slow the clamour to return for Sanchez’s services.

Suddenly, with Ibrahimovic potentially out of the equation and confidence in Sanchez taking a knock, those Man City assets may just stick around longer than expected.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How about Sterling + Barnes to Tarrol and Llorente for a -4? Would be shifting back to a 3-4-3

          I don't.
Looking at it I can play Hull def
          V (3 home games)
Swans/Wham/Boro when I need them, swans not so attractive those weeks.

Not sure either will keep a CS, but if I'm honest I think Hull suit my roster better, when I need one of them to play Hull just seem to have the better fixture in the next 6.

True and I've been keeping Brunt/Foster for so long for 27/28 is very frustrating, even bloody Amat playing for 60 secs matched their 1point yesterday 🙁

    Current team for 28

    Jakupovic
    Coleman, Brunt (Alonso, Pieters, Amat)
    Siggy, Phillips, Markovic (Eriksen, Sane)
    Lukaku (Aguero, Ibra)
    1.9 itb

    Considering the following for -12
    Ibra > Llorente
    Amat > Maguire
    Sane, Phillips > Mane Coutinho

Feels like a lot of hits but looking at them individually seems to make sense, only got 2 defenders currently so Amat out is only really a -2. Phillips will play but unlikely to get anything from Everton match, hasn't produced for weeks where as Liverpool should score well against Burnley.

Finished around 20k mark last couple of seasons but currently 110k OR & sitting 4th in mini league so a few hits may be required here.

Llorente has by far the better fixtures and doesn't have a blank this week.

I'm thinking of Aguero & Amat > Llorente and Mawson for a -4 hit

Just figured I'd stop by and brag about the team, one of the few gameweeks it's actually looking half-decent so far this season. 1FT 1.8M ITB WC intact, no hits last GW either:

    Heaton
    Maguire FunesMori McAuley Chambers*
Mane (vc) Firminho Philips King Fletcher
    Lukaku (c)

    Bench: Pickford Yoshi Zlatan Aguero

Considering Chambers or Yoshi for Coleman or Baines, then WC for GW29 ditching Everton WBA and so on for DGWers...

Thoughts? Can ditch Zlatan next GW for Kane or similar if he gets the ban.

Is it worth taking a -8 hit to get 11 starters out this week? Would also help tidy up my squad and the -8 hit would be reduced if they all bag some points. The three transfers are:

    Aguero > Llorente
    Amat > Mawson
    Phillips > Mane

Anyone still rocking 3-5-2 but thinking of switching to 3-4-3?

I'd ideally like to make the choice before GW28 because if I switch to 3-4-3 then I bring Tom Carroll in to start the ball rolling and just play him in 28.

Which 3 strikers would you be looking at? I've looked at something like Lukaku - Kane - Gabbidaini which still allows me to have Sanchez - Mane - Sterling - Sigurdsson

I don't particularly want to forget about Ibra but if he's banned it makes the decision easier and Lukaku is cheaper.

Yeah, Kane, gabbiadini and then 1 other. Llorente to start with.

Keeping Sterling through the tough fixtures?

Pedro looks a good replacement after GW28.

Perhaps - it depends really, only have so many transfers, I still think he could offer good value.

This GW will probably sway my thinking one way or another 🙂

Liv and Ars aren't great defensively so should be some goals. Che will be tough but then it's smooth sailing, well besides the pep factor.

      Luk, Kane and Gabs.

Been rocking 352 since I sold Origi and haven't looked back, been steadily climbing but may need to change.

If Lukaku disappears again then its back to 352 again!

      Definitely going 3-4-3 post blanks.

Kane is locked in as on of my strikers, and Gabbiadini just seem to offer too much value (and poins) to overlook.

That leaves one spot to fight for, and it's between:
      Lukaku
      Aguero
      Costa

Depends on what the ref puts down in the report. He spoke to Ibra afterwards, hard to know.

This is key. Depends if the ref saw the incident or not...

If you were the ref would you admit to seeing an elbow and not taking any action? That would look terrible.......

It depends what he saw real time vs. tv replays. Point is if he saw it and had a discussion about it with players on the pitch then he's boxed in.

TV replays of course suggest a ban.
