It has been confirmed that Everton’s Seamus Coleman has suffered a broken leg playing for the Republic of Ireland against Wales in Friday’s World Cup Qualifier, following a horrific challenge by Aston Villa’s Neil Taylor.

The full-back was stretchered from the field on 72 minutes with his with the Irish physios attempting to hold his lower-right leg in position. Post-match is was confirmed that Coleman had been taken to hospital with a break.

A key Fantasy asset, Coleman is currently owned by over 851,000 (19.3%) Fantasy Premier League managers having provided a consistent stream of recent returns. The full-back has produced a goal, assist or clean sheet in nine of his last ten Gameweeks.

He will be huge loss to Everton and the Republic of Ireland and we can only wish the player a speedy recovery.

From a Fantasy perspective, his absence will likely see Everton boss Ronald Koeman turn to 20-year-old Mason Holgate, priced at 4.0, to fill the significant void at right-back.

Elsewhere, Coleman’s sales will no doubt lead to heavy investment in Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia ahead of his double Gameweek 34.

Spurs’ Kyle Walker would also become a popular target for Coleman’s current owners, along with Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand; the Saints left-back has produced four assists in his last five outings and will enjoy 11 fixtures over his final nine Gameweeks.

Regardless, tonight our thoughts are with the Everton man – a player who will undoubtedly figure in our squads as key asset on his return to the pitch.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just treat it like the English version and assume it means what it would on the fpl site. It's basically the same layout and just takes a bit of patience and assumption

Do you use Google Chrome? There's a neat translator built-in on the site. Be careful though, there is really no Chair, no Originator and no Developers lol 😉 There is a Psyche though lol French lad I think, have fun.

Coleman missed the first 3 games of the season. Holgate played every minute of those 3 games.

If you play AOA and one of the front 8 gets zero minutes the chip is "wasted" and a defender comes in to make a standard formation? Correct?

Re the backlash against #AndyPollGate on Twitter. I've seen a lot of @FPLVirg posts on here asking me to comment.

Yes, Andy had got a Coleman replacements poll up on Twitter before the bone had fully snapped from the tackle and that may be distasteful, but it's all about the tone. Look at Mark's article; he judged the tone beautifully.

To be fair to Andy, with only a 140 characters on to play with in a tweet, it is hard to offer condolences to the lad and publish a poll at the same time. I don't think anyone seriously thinks that Andy doesn't wish Coleman a speedy recovery (which he posted in subsequent tweets).

Already 2 defenders down and we're not even half way through the international break. Next year I'll only pick players who don't play international football.

Cech, Alonso, Milner, Daniels, Shawcross, Noble, Mata, Yaya, Deeney, Llorente, Carroll

Valencia has arguably the better fixture this week and will likely rise in price the most as he is an easy swoip Coleman so I would get him first

This will get me knocked out the cup in the first round but should see me right in the long run. Coleman, Baines, Brunt to Alonso, Walker and Stephens -8

Alternative is to keep Baines get Yoshida for Brunt and only get one of Alonso or Walker

No WC so have to prepare for the dgw's early

Sod it I've gone Bertrand but only because his price is going to jump tonight, plus I can save my WC for gw36. The only thing that bothers me is palace fighting relegation with big Sam, West Brom doing a number on arsenal at the hawthorns, and Bournemouth aren't shy of scoring at all over the last few game weeks and are re-emerging for Bertrand, vs a Sunderland side who seem to have no idea where the goal is in recent weeks, and a stoke side who struggle to score more than one with Leicester looking their championship winning selves again and. It's fixtures at the king power, with Fuchs scoring and assisting already since the managerial change ... hmm I may be regretting my decision

It depends whether you bought him at 5.5 (in which case the next fall affects you), or 5.6 (when you only lose sell value if he drops below 6.0). I'm in the latter camp, but there no way I'll making any moves (probably Valencia) until the fallout from the Int Break is clear.

But if he bought at 5.6, he still gets 5.8 when he drops from 6.1 to 6.0

If it was Sanchez that suffered that injury, they'd have him at 75%.....and probably be about right. Guy seems indestructible. Like the terminator.

It's really bad taste so apologies beforehand.

    B) Bertrand

Already have Yoshi if that makes any difference.

If Gooners had any backbone it would be A by a mile. The loss of Cech and the capitulation @WBA - and the lousy overall form lately - lead to B.

That's the question - can Arsenal be trusted? If so then Kosc could be great and not seen him mentioned on here much.

Look at the last 6, you'd target 4 cleanies? They got 1... let in 6 v BUR WAT wba. That is bad, it's a joke, avoid.

It should not be a punt when you spend that much on a defender.

Is 7 changes to my squad of 15 worth a wildcard? Team: (x means I would take out)

    Grant x jak x
    Coleman x Valencia B Davies x Fuchs Olsson x
Siggy Sanchez Mane Eriksen King x
    Lukaku Vardy Gabbiadini x

I'm also on -8 at the minute which is making me push towards the wildcard mmm

I would try to hold on until we know the dates for the remaining DGWs (~7 Apr), but I can see why recent events are making you think WC.

Thinking Coleman > Bertrand (already have Valencia) assuming SOT have a Dgw before I wc in gw36. Anyone know the permutations that will determine when the Sot v Ars match is resheduled from?

The PL said they would advise dates for the remaining fixtures on or around 7 Apr, which would be tight for a DGW33; so probably GW35 or GW36.

I somehow seem to have ended up with Baines Valencia Alonso Walker and Yoshida...Seems a bit excessive although i don't need the money because i have 5.0mill banked. Is it worth keeping?...Do Everton have any fixtures worth keeping Baines for ?

Baines was looking a sell anyway, now with Coleman out it arguably weakens the defence considerably. May even impact Kaku tbh, big loss.

Aye, might do actually. That defence is ok when fully fit but a bit of a disaster with weak links. You might be right Netley.
