It has been confirmed that Everton’s Seamus Coleman has suffered a broken leg playing for the Republic of Ireland against Wales in Friday’s World Cup Qualifier, following a horrific challenge by Aston Villa’s Neil Taylor.

The full-back was stretchered from the field on 72 minutes with his with the Irish physios attempting to hold his lower-right leg in position. Post-match is was confirmed that Coleman had been taken to hospital with a break.

A key Fantasy asset, Coleman is currently owned by over 851,000 (19.3%) Fantasy Premier League managers having provided a consistent stream of recent returns. The full-back has produced a goal, assist or clean sheet in nine of his last ten Gameweeks.

He will be huge loss to Everton and the Republic of Ireland and we can only wish the player a speedy recovery.

From a Fantasy perspective, his absence will likely see Everton boss Ronald Koeman turn to 20-year-old Mason Holgate, priced at 4.0, to fill the significant void at right-back.

Elsewhere, Coleman’s sales will no doubt lead to heavy investment in Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia ahead of his double Gameweek 34.

Spurs’ Kyle Walker would also become a popular target for Coleman’s current owners, along with Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand; the Saints left-back has produced four assists in his last five outings and will enjoy 11 fixtures over his final nine Gameweeks.

Regardless, tonight our thoughts are with the Everton man – a player who will undoubtedly figure in our squads as key asset on his return to the pitch.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Am I right in thinking Mori still has same chance of playing regardless of Coleman out? Holgate more chance?

Yes. Mori is left-footed so harder to play RB.

I think you can handle not using WC here. Coleman and Rondon to say Bertrand and Vardy? Would that work?

Coleman and Rondon need to go, Coutinho to a Spurs mid is also another obvious move.
I would take a -8 to fix the team for now and save the WC for later

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Sad to have to write this one but here goes - who is the best Seamus Coleman replacement?

Is Valencia the obvious replacement? Or should we be looking even longer term and opt for a Southampton or Arsenal defender?

Must on here will have their wc left so long term not a big issue. Valencia the dull and boring move but I fancy a fuchs. If Rose were fit id prob go him though

I'm waiting on rose for spurs.

Immediately though I'm looking at Bertrand or Valencia - just makes sense given the doubles and their attacking threat.

I'm not making any move until mourinho' press conference - he tends to mention/ hint if players are too tired to play.

            Bertrand may get the nod.

Bertrand over Cédric even though Cédric’s stats look just as good? I know that Bertrand has gotten more assists, but could Cédric’s assist potential be just as good as Bertrand’s from this point onwards?

Valencia. Ideal defence is something like the below IMO:

      Walker - Alonso - Valencia - Cedric - Fabio

Valencia Toby Alonso (Mawson Maguire) with wildcard and BB to use.

Valencia is an easy swap or Vertonghen for a cheaper way into Spurs defense (more long term than Davies)

Replace Coleman with either Valencia or Bertrand

I'm not sure on Valencia. Feel it's a bit of trap. Poor fixtures. Only returned attacking wise very recently including one lucky goal. Unstable and now injury hit utd defence. Looks like only a couple of extra 2s due to dgws. Not a good move

Genuinely flummoxed by this. Agree with the Valencia trap theory. They play every 3 days for the whole of April and mourinho cares about europa. Plus the fixtures aren't the best. Got to factor in wc 35 or so. I might do Coleman + McAuley > Bertrand + Walker. That would give me:

      Alonso Walker Bertrand Baines

Fixture-wise I would say it goes:

      Walker
      Bertrand
      Valencia

Accounting for doubles but also congestion. All in pretty good form.

Valencia the real fire and forget option here, with Bertrand maybe as the main saints option if you want to keep some value in defence, or Yoshi/Stephens if you want to rebalance completely.

Personally I think it's too good an opportunity to snap up Valencia - was struggling with Coleman Alonso Valencia so now, sadly, my decision has been made for me through Coleman's terrible injury

Can afford Walker, but also considering Davies as a short term option with WC in hand. Real dilemma is whether to just free up funds for a Mané > Sanchez switch. Leaves me 4.6 to play with, though could also free up pennies selling ASmith.

No Cech an issue for me. Like this as a cheap defence:

        De Gea - Pickford
        Stones - Barragan - Luiz - Vertonghen - Yoshida

Lots of DGW players in good defences

Speaking of defenders why the assumption the 4 top 10 hall of famers will dump Brunt over McCauley when if you discount Brunts two substitute appearances when returning from his long term injury he has a ppg of 3.95 to McCauley 3.9 and that is including McCauley fortunate returns (especially the one where he scored the goal and brunt lost an assist without him even knowing it hit him!). Had McCauley not got his fortunate touch he would be on 3.6ppg to Brunt 4.0ppg.

Brunt is clearly still the weapon of choice in the WBA defence as his returns ARE sustainable whereas McCauley is clearly hitting above his weight class.

Do you think Spurs would have any done better this season if Lamela was fit?

It would have been something like:

      ------------ Kane ------------
      - Alli -- Eriksen -- Lamela -
      - Wanyama -- Dembele -

Yeh that's pretty much the shape they started the season with. I like lamela, he's a really clever player with a lot of quality. Thought this would be his breakthrough season after he started really well. But I don't think they've missed him much simply because Son has done so well, especially when Kane's been out.

Baines is the ready made replacement for Coleman. I've owned 'No penalty' Baines for a long time now. Would be superb if some Coleman owners jump on just as Baines starts getting penalties, just to eradicate any advantage whatsoever of owning Baines.

I think there are far better options than Baines. As an owner you are just hoping he gets penalties. He has absolutely nothing else to his game anymore. If you want an Everton defender and you've got money to burn then fair enough, but I wouldn't go out of my way for him.

Fair; although one hopes that he'll be the one getting more forward now, rather than Holgate or whoever goes to the opposite site. He does have a decent left foot (recall Lukaku crap miss from Baines cross last week).

Think Coleman is a big outlet for them going forward. Unsure if Bainesy is really the right replacement FPL wise. Valencia or Betrand as marauding full backs with decent fixtures and dgws appeal more for me

Make sense to transfer in Bertrand instead of Walker for Coleman?

Tempted to wait for Rose and do Baines -> Rose later and save 0.5.

    Or just Coleman -> Walker?

Common census on here Valencia or Bertrand to replace Coleman. Its one decision I've got to make.
Maureen seems to love Valencia, on one hand he should pick him every game, on the other they have a lot of fixtures so may be rested. My concerns with Bertrand I can't see clean sheets without VVD. Decisions, Decisions.

B, and maybe Chambers the nailed pick of the bunch, but I'm giving it a couple of weeks til I bring Boro in - I think they play Burnley in 32 so I'll have a couple of weeks to have seen what the lineup is

Would prefer to grab a Saints player - can you afford Cedric? Or maybe Yoshi? And then put a Boro player in later.

Morning all, how are these transfers looking? 2 injuries so far - I think if I have 4, I will wildcard.

    Randolph / Jaku
Coleman* Alonso Brunt / Pieters RFM
Antonio* Siggy Mane Eriksen / Fletcher
    Kaku Kun Llorente

    Coleman -> Valencia
    Antonio -> Mahrez (-4)

Did consider Bertrand and/or Tadic being one of the ins, too, but think those two are actually better.

Not sure who to captain yet - tempted by a punt on Mahrez if I bring him in!

    Thanks guys!

Yeah but Valencia is just a season keeper with 2 dgws, fancy getting in there early with him!

Bertrand I'd like eventually, but idk at the moment. I'll have to make the move in a couple of weeks anyway, as Sanchez is coming in for GW31.
