As one of the most popular and consistent defenders in Fantasy Premier League, Seamus Coleman’s season-ending injury has sent many managers scouring the market in search of a replacement.

More than 153,000 have parted company over the international break, with Antonio Valencia, Leighton Baines and Kyle Walker currently the three most popular alternatives for the Irishman’s former owners.

With double Gameweek drama set to get underway in Gameweek 34, though, many are already starting to piece together their Wildcard plans for the run-in.

For now, then, a short-term replacement for Coleman, taking care of the next four rounds of fixtures, may well be enough for most before we start to focus further on the doubles.

In this latest article for Members, we mine the data to assess some of the main candidates across the price brackets.

          My uncle Geariod came 3rd in a old school newspaper postal fpl years ago and his wife made him give up the game after the season on threat of divorce because he was carrying out too much soccer research and totally ignoring her
          It must have been hard pre internet to play the game

          I am always trying to get him to play fpl again but he always refuses to enter

        Im considering switching Llorente to Vardy or Deeney but will keep hold of Carroll whilst fit, i reckon he is arm band material this week v Hull, was so unlock u not to get points against Leicester !         I thought about rolling the transfer but need to get some differentials in and make up points as my ML leader is 75 in front, don't think a 'steady eddie' approach is going to cut it at this stage of the season. That said, 2 transfers next week may come in handy for when the remaining DGW fixtures are announced. Cheers.

    No outstanding captain choices this week, so... Marcos Alonso not selected by Spain has had a nice long rest, on free kicks (hit the bar at Selhurt Park earlier this season and against Stoke last GW) and against a Palace side likely to sit deep at the Bridge and concede a few free kicks.       Anyone on here without a Spurs mid??
      Can get one for a hit for King or Firmino this week or for Siggy next week, just don't think this is the week to get one.

      Also, surely the best replacement for Coleman is not walker, because rose is coming back from injury soon and is much cheaper. Also I feel Bertrand is too expensive and yoshida or Cedric are better options as a 4th def with a Chelsea, Man U and Spurs defender and a boro defender.
