As one of the most popular and consistent defenders in Fantasy Premier League, Seamus Coleman’s season-ending injury has sent many managers scouring the market in search of a replacement.

More than 153,000 have parted company over the international break, with Antonio Valencia, Leighton Baines and Kyle Walker currently the three most popular alternatives for the Irishman’s former owners.

With double Gameweek drama set to get underway in Gameweek 34, though, many are already starting to piece together their Wildcard plans for the run-in.

For now, then, a short-term replacement for Coleman, taking care of the next four rounds of fixtures, may well be enough for most before we start to focus further on the doubles.

In this latest article for Members, we mine the data to assess some of the main candidates across the price brackets.

          Been waing to do Coleman > Valencia and Lallana > Alli this week. Turns out the one's I want to bring look like being fit and the others both injured. Must be a sign 😉

            Yeah may even affect their ability to win the ball back quickly, which is a big part of Stöger's tactics. Osako's one of the biggest workhorses in the league. Definitely not considering selling though, as Niederlechner is the only one I'd even contemplate.

    I'm probably going to wildcard this week and want a Spurs defender in my team. Rose would be my first choice but with doubts over his return date should I go for Davies and transfer in Rose when fit, or just go Vertonghen (saves me doing transfer later). I'm not sure I want to pay 6.4 for Walker.

      Solid defensive team with strongest schedule; Walker gets the odd assist (six so far), and BAPS, too. Not sure there are great many better alternatives in that price range. Many also have accumulated enough wealth to have Alonso, Walker and another strong defender at this stage. Why not?

          I think most folks are in the market due to a Coleman injury. I personally am not a fan of Southampton cos they have not kept a great # of clean sheets, and without VvD and Fonte, they seem to more of a risk. Bertrand could still of course get a clean sheet, get attacking points, has many games, and is attractively priced.

      He does pose a treat but he is very wasteful but i suppose the same can be said of Valencia
      My main gripe with Walker is he is blocker of a attacking Spurs treble up
