This afternoon we reveal who has made it through to the second round of both our Fantasy Premier League cup competitions.

In our open to all cup, reigning champion A Manager Has No Name saw off Flying Nugget 50-41 despite being more than 30,000 behind him in the overall rankings going into the clash.

The enigmatically-titled victor, who is placed at 30,453, now has himself another tricky tie, against community regular Krul runnings, who is 9,490 places above him.

He wasn’t the only cup winner to progress, with both Mark and I overcoming Sleep Talk and Virus in the mind respectively.

Mark, who is 472nd in the rankings, now faces 7,717-placed Jimmyt281, while I’ve got my work cut out to defeat 76,423-ranked Not Much Klopp, given my lowly 355,537 placing.

Former champions Donnellyc, Gribude and Wild Rover also prevailed. Of this trio, 323,577-placed Donnellyc has arguably the toughest encounter when he squares up to the 7,798-ranked SpartaBhoy.

Meanwhile, 67,661-placed Gribude faces 5,199-ranked Footopia and Wild Rover takes on Kabukkinen, who at 25,793, is 18,154 places ahead of our community’s resident Blackburn fan.

Sadly, we say goodbye to former winner MCH at this stage, who was defeated 49-42 by upthemiddle.

In the first round’s live Hall of Fame top ten derby, Philman, who is 1,071 in the overall standings and seventh in our list of all-time best FPL managers, lost 68-34 to Dronny Imp (aka David Meechan), who is tenth in our elite listings and has moved up to 7,275 in the world.

Legomane, who is 3,755 places behind David, has drawn the short straw to become this top manager’s next opponent.

Another to fall victim to the fixture list is FetchUp, who is placed 8,461 in the world but next faces Hana, who at 52 overall is the competition’s highest-ranked manager.

The full second round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, in the Members’ Cup former winner Trigg, who is 134,835 in the world, won a close encounter with Bangkok Canary 59-53 and next takes on 56,151-ranked Fenghh.

FFScout Members’ League leader and 34th-placed Billy Ketsu was another victor. After overcoming Emckay, he now encounters Doctor101, who is ranked 56,236.

Other eye-catching ties include Jafooli’s clash with another community regular VS10, while Hana makes it through in this contest as well and takes on FFScout moderator Spencer .

The full second round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved, and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes simply click this link.

Get rid of Defoe or Llorente first? The other will play this week and either 0 or 1 more GWs. Llorente out due to less chance of starting?

I'd do Llorente to Carroll as he has a few decent fixtures and with Gabbiadini injured looks the most viable option in that price range.

who is likely to bring in more points over the next 5 game weeks

    king - pool (a), chelsea (h),spurs (a), middlesb (h) and sunderland (a)

    or

    lanzini - arsenal (a), swansea (h), sunderland (a), everton (h) and stoke (a)

Lanzini. Plus better first 3 fixtures, so you don't have to wait for the good fixtures before removing him if you change your mind

How long-term a prospect is Origi? Looking for Gabbiadini cover for three GWs or so...

Good punt. Should start 2 of those at least. If he doesn't so be it, he can make an impact, and I don't mind benching him until WC if necessary. Might start 3 of the next 5 if Mane out all 5. That's my guess. Hopefully a minimum too

I'm not going to trust Origi again after his desasterous spell in my team around Christmas

Only other good option for that price is Anichebe haha. Gabbi not fit. Benteke more expensive and terrible fixtures. Origi better option than Barnes too

This is my concern. But it's not for a hit and I can't afford more than the £6.8 I get for Gabbi (and I'll keep it to bring him back arounf GW35)

In fairness, I don't think even Sir Alex in his prime could have done much more for you this season, though.

I know Moyes is not a fan favourite but I think this has been coming for several seasons now.

I'm in similar situation and really tempted to keep Kun. What are your thoughts when you compare these possible Sanchez enabling moves?

          A) (Mane and) Baines -> Sanchez and Yoshida (-4)
          B) (Mane and) Alonso -> Sanchez and B.Davies (-4)
          C) (Mane and) Aguero -> Sanchez and Ibrahimovic (-4)

Either Sanchez or Vardy this week. I have the same as you, armband on Alexis and VC Vardy.

Looking at Sunderland, though, who on Saturday looked like a team that have now already accepted their fate, I'm tempted to stick it on Vards.

Walker • Valencia • Stones (Chambers • Yoshida)
Sanchez • Alli • Coutinho • Sane (Ndidi)
      Ibrahimovic • Lukaku • Origi

For B and C money ITB to upgrade Origi to Gabbi when fit.

Was originally thinking that but Lukaku's next few after this GW are great and Vardy's are not.

I think the explosive home form of Lukaku is hard to go against

Yeah. Costa is timebomb. Still got the chance of 2 yellows in 2 games giving a two match ban as well

I'm bringing in a full contingent on WC in GW 35/36. Holding Alonso throughout.

        i'm holding Alonso.

he can score at any time. don't think there is a more dangerous defender in the league, and i still
think Chelsea is good for some clean sheets going forward, even though they've been conceding lately.

don't have Costa. there are other strikers i prefer.

Keeping Alonso, no WC and those last 4 fixtures are too good, I'd want him back. Costa will become Ibra/Kane when the time is right.

      Heaton
      Alonso Walker McAuley
      Mane* Alli Coutinho Siggy
      Aguero Lukaku Carroll

Jaku Pieters Carroll Amat. 1FT, 0.7 ITB.

Really want to keep Kun for HUL. Edging towards Mane/Alonso > Sanchez/5.0. What do you think?

I've just done Mane > Alexis... and am considering ditching Alonso as well.

I ditched Kun yesterday for Vardy and cash to upgrade King to Coutinho.

I like having Alonso there and Kun is costing you £12.7m for 1 goal and an occasional bap a game.

As someone on here said yesterday, Kun isn't explosive enough now to justify that price tag. I'm convinced Couts and Vardy will bag me more points the rest of the season than Kun and King.

What if getting rid of Alonso helps fund Sanchez (WHU), and allows you to keep Aguero (HUL), after which the idea is to shift him for Ibra anyway?

only reason i was keeping hold of Baines is because of Everton's nice fixtures from GW32 onwards...

Shall I ditch now for Davies, and then bring in Hollgate as cover next week?

get Davies, and forget about Everton's defense. it may be shattered for good.

I kept Baines for the same reason. Baines > Holgate seems like a great cash saving move.
