After a five month long winter break the new season of Norwegian’s top flight football kicked off with a bang with two Gameweeks within a few days.

With Gameweek 3 starting on Saturday there is little respite for the clubs, and more importantly, us Fantasy managers. Gameweek 2 saw a lot of frustration as key assets were either benched or taken off early with the tight schedule in mind.

FFScout League Standings

The FFS community has shown an overwhelming interest for this fringe league, with 476 already having entered the FFScout main league (3769-1041).

On top with 135 points we find Norwegian Red (Oieiao) – perhaps fittingly – an Englishman.

In the FFScout  H2H league 16 managers have won both their matchups, with Ned Ryerson and Riski Virksomhet being joint top thanks to their superior points tally. Ned Ryerson features again on top of Phil Dagger’s Last Man Standing.

Stock Check

Ahead of looking at the risers and fallers from the two Gameweeks so far it is worth checking out Goktugerce‘s excellent statistical review of the first two Gameweeks, looking at team statistics, average positions and expected goals & assists. Meanwhile, Niemi took an in depth look at the good and bad players so far in every position.

Rising

Vegar Hedenstad (6.5) – Two clean sheets and an assist. On some set pieces.

Mike Jensen (10.5) – Two assists. Easy on the eye, which means he will be a favourite of ‘the man in the stand’. Already has 4 bonus points.

Milan Jevtovic (7.6) – A goal and an assist. A possible injury to Elbasan Rashani means Jevtovic could be nailed on going forward.

Nicklas Bendtner (12.5) – Two goals. The Dane is yet to find the groove but nonetheless has managed to find the back of the net in both games. Will score a lot of goals purely because of the sheer amount of chances Rosenborg create every game.

Sigurd Rosted (5.6) – Two goals. Not only is he a massive threat from set pieces, Sarpsborg play 4 out of their next 6 fixtures at home. Last season they kept an impressive 9 clean sheets in 15 games at home.

Patrick Mortensen (6.6) – Two goals and an assist. Sarpsborg have scored the joint most goals so far and the fixtures are favourable.

Gilbert Koomson (7.5) – Dubbed ’Siggy of Eliteserien’ by some of the FFS posters, Koomson showed some of his potential by scoring a penalty in GW2. The top assister from last season is yet to assist this campaign but that looks like a matter of time.

Bendik Bye (5.5) – Two goals and an assist. After a potential season ending injury for strike parter Ole Sveen, Bye should have done enough to nail down a permanent starting place.

Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) – A goal and an assist. 4 bonus points already, including full points in a game his team lost.

Ibrahim Shuaibu (5.0) – Two goals and two assists. Incredible form and value.

Frederik Gytkjær (7.5) – Three goals. Mistaken for his brother who was the league’s top scorer last season, a lot of casuals have enjoyed the early investment of the younger Gytkjær.

Ohi Omoijuanfo (7.0) – Hat-trick in the first home game. 3 of the next 4 fixtures are at home.

Marco Tagbajumi (7.6) – Two goals. Going somewhat under the radar compared to his expensive strike partner Marcus Pedersen. Favourable fixtures.

Jylian Ryerson (4.5) – One goal. Listed as a cheap defender, Ryerson has played both games in an advanced midfield position. Will probably drop a bit deeper once Adegbenro is back. Ryerson is a jack of all trades and due to Viking’s extremely thin squad we could hope to see him OOP for longer parts of the season.

Falling

Ghayas Zahid (10.5) – Tipped by many to be in contention for player of the year, Zahid has nothing to show for so far. Consistent returns are vital for players with a premium price tag. Does however face the bottom team at home in GW3 so those patient enough to keep could finally be rewarded.

Mohammed Abdellaoue (9.4) – An impressive pre season was followed by an anonymous opening GW before being ruled out for GW2 with an injury. Is very injury prone.

Lars Vilsvik (6.0) – Viewed as a full back with big attacking threat, the only thing Vilsvik has produced so far is an own goal. The fixtures are however still good.

Rafik Zekhnini (8.5) & Fredrik Nordkvelle (9.0) – Although the former registered an assist after coming on as a sub, he was benched due poor work ethic in the previous match. The latter is yet to return attacking points.

Samuel Adegbenro (7.5) – After missing the first game through illness, Adegbenro returned to training ahead of GW2. But he missed the second game as well, and now await four of the toughest games Viking will play all season.

Gameweek 3 Picks

Scoring the winner in his debut game, Bård Finne (9.1) will look to continue his good home form when Vålerenga welcome the bottom team Sandefjord. With Abdellaoue being a doubt for Sunday, Finne might benefit from a central striker role.

When it comes to attempts, midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) is second only to Bendik Bye with 4 shots per game. The Nigerian will certainly fancy his chances at home against what currently is the joint worst defence in the league.

Marco Tagbajuni (7.6) is on top for average xG (expected goals) per shot. Although a small sample size, this suggests he has so far been on the right place at the right time. Up against a shambolic Aalesund defence, the rather budget friendly striker could potentially even be trusted with the armband.

Undecided on keepers. Record so far:

      LSK A: 2-1 (AASK H 1-3 - total 3 goals scored)
      KBK A: 2-0 (SAN H 0-3 but Rosenborg - total 3 goals scored)

Yeah, both Lillestrom ad Kristiansund have conceded the least amount of shots or something like that. I just think AASK are more capable of scoring more than Sandefjord, hence I'm starting McDermott

        1. MTPockets
          9 years, 2 months ago

          Seems mostly correct actually.

          Shots conceded pg:
          Rosenborg - 7
          Lillestrom/Brann - 7.3
          Kristiansund - 8.3

          Shots pg:
          Aalesund - 12.3
          Sandefjord - 7.3

          Shots OT pg:
          Aalesund - 4
          Sandefjord - 2

Mostly same trend adjusted for home/away although sample size of 1 or 2 anyway.

To those that followed Rosenborg last season.
What was the verdict on Gudmundur Thorarinsson?
My hometown team, that lost against RBK in the CL qual, bought him this winter. He injured his knee here straight away but is apparently back for todays Swedish cup final.

Good but not spectacular, best in a central midfield posision. He has good handling, but tends to lose pace and go a bit too complicated in dribbling

I'd stay away from Occean. But Zahid out for sure.
Tagbajumi, Kastrati perform for much less then occean.
So does Mort/Lindb but beware of Fejzullahu. He will get starts when fully fit. Matthews is a fine pick in mid but will probably not be this prolific for long

Last time around he went from 0 minutes to 72 straight away. This time he has already had his cameo, so I reckon he is fit to last 90, but Janssen will probably get 10-20 minutes since he is already a bit warm. If the game is close I expect 90 minutes out of Kane.

I'd go dyngeland for the home fixture. I'm playing McDermott over Fernandes.

Albech is supposed to be fit as far as what I have read on here. I don't think albechs going to get a clean sheet, and I don't really think shuaibu is going to score. So pick the one who's more like to get attacking returns, so that would point to shuaibu then I guess.

It's never a risk captaining a Rosenberg attacker.... do you have any free transfers? If you do, get rid of pedersen for the bendtner and (k) him.

      Good luck!

Start Albech (stb), Utvik (SIF) or Moe (SO8)?

Team shots conceded point marginally to Moe over Albech, although Sarpsborg (Albech) have conceded fewest goals.
Opponent shots & shots on target point marginally to Utvik over Moe, and Strømsgodset (vs Utvik) have scored fewest goals.

On balance it looks amost certain Sarpsborg will score (not Moe).
Leaving a choice between who's most likely to score - Strømsgodset (not Utvik), or Stabæk (not Albech).

I think start Albech if fit?

Albech if fit I think, but Moe if not. He is on almost every set piece at Stabæk and got the same chances for a CS IMO (also same odds for a CS as Utvik).

      CS odds

      Sarpsborg 3.40
      Stabæk 3.75
      Sogndal 3.75

      1. Niemi
        • 11 Years

Also worth nothing Sarpsborg normally plays on artificial turf, while Stabæk plays on natural grass at home. That's advantage Stabæk IMO.

A lot of teams play on artificial turf in Eliteserien. I guess it's an advantage to the home team if the away team normally plays on a different type of surface.

Artificial turf: Aalesund, Kristiansund, Molde, Odd, Sarpsborg, Sogndal, Strømsgodset, Tromsø
Natural grass: Brann, Haugesund, Lillestrøm, Rosenborg, Sandefjord, Stabæk, Viking, Vålerenga

Brann barely concedes at home. Sarpsborg only got 1 of their CSs on natural grass last year, and Stabæk looks dangerous going forward. Moe takes some set pieces, so I fancy him. I do have both Rosted and Moe in my team, and I'd play Rosted over Moe. It's not a clear cut choice. I am not going to assume that Albech is threatening going forward before he shows it, so I'd take Moe.

More or less confirmed Odd line ups:

Sondre Rossbach - Espen Ruud, Fredrik Semb, Steffen Hagen, Thomas Grøgaard - Jone Samuelsen, Fredrik Oldrup Jensen, Fredrik Nordkvelle - Pape Paté Diouf, Olivier Occean, Riku Riski.

Odd is one of the teams that start late, so it's quite useful.

          Have just changed it. 🙂

Tempted to bench Nguen for Njie... Not sure if he was rested because there are lots of options, or because of fatigue, but Nguen didn't start in GW2 and Njie delivered last game.

Got Lehne Olsen for this GW. Current captain is Jensen, vc is Mos. Might captain Sigurdarsson at the end, but is he nailed on?

Looking to improve current rank of 359. 😀

Dyngeland far from the best GK pick this round IMO. Might still end up playing him though

How can Dyngeland be in the scout picks when nobody picked him?

Haha, I didn't even notice. If it's budget issues it surely should be McDermott then!?

Linde was the most picked but had to be a 4.6 max keeper because of the budget. McD playing away so didn't fancy him. Was between Dyngeland and Lie, went with who I believe has the better home defence out of the two.

But McDermott and Lie was actually picked by someone as opposed to Dyngeland.

Think a lot (me included) think him a good choice, but few want to waste a sub on the goalie, hence scout pick but not team choice.....

Hi all, any suggestions on the below or GTG?

    Dyngeland
    Ramsteijn, Wormgoor, Ruud
    Jovetic (k), Danielsen, Koomson, Trondsen,
    Bendtner, Shuaibu, Mos
    Bench: Fernandes, Pedersen, Ryerson, Amundsen

Waited until last day to make my transfers with educated decisions. Something I rarely do in FPL! But Jevtovic up to 7.9. Damn. I'll probably do Zahid > Jevtovic and Occean > Bendtner though.

Albech er ikke i troppen i morgen heller, til tross for at han spilte en treningsmatch på mandag.

It appears Albech not in the squad for today either. That changes my plans because I don't want to lose more value.

Don't known what to do with Albech. He's my 3rd sub anyways this week, so feels like a waste spending a FT on him. On the other hand he'll probably drop more in the coming week.

    1. MTPockets

I'll just get rid after the deadline, assuming no other worries.

This is what I am likely going to do. I don't like making transfers just after deadline though, I may end up taking hits later. Maybe dropping another 0.1 is not such a bad thing.

Albech if he's a starter for you. Not decided on Vilsvik yet. Decent fixtures

    Play Nguen or Njie?

Shuaibu doesn't have the greatest fixture either, but his form has been so good. Nguen was a sub in GW2, but I don't know why. Njie has played every game and returned last week (plus has a home fixture, Nguen is away).

    Dyngeland
    Ruud - Hedenstad - Wormgoor
    Midstjo - Haugen - Koomson - NGUEN
    Bendtner - Shuaibu - Tagbajumi

    Fernandes, NJIE, Moe, Ryerson

Jevtovic is the one I want as well but no space for him as I'm also bringing in Lord.

I have the same problem. I have Hedenstad and Helland already, and have to choose between Jevtovic and Lord but I'm going Jevtovic (for money purposes mainly). I need 2.5M to upgrade Occean to Bendtner, which limits me to 7.9M after I sell Zahid. No better options than Jevtovic for under 8.0 though.

            Some other options under 8m:
            -Komsoon
            -riski
            -trondsen

            And some cheap options:
            -Matthew
            -njie

Hello friends, could you help solve my dilemma?

    I have 2 FTs and 3,4 ITB.

A: Upgrade a keeper to Lecijiewski
B: Reginiussen to Rosted/Rolansson, Zekhnini to Jelavic

    Full team:

    Dyngeland

    Hedenstad - Reginiussen - Ruud - Vilsvik

    Zekhnini - Huseklepp - Trondsen

    Bendtner - Lindberg - Omo

    (Fernandez Njie Moe Sødlund)

I like B with Rolantsson. Gives you an OOP defender, gets rid of rotation risk (Zekhnini) and gives you the perfect Rosenborg balance (1D,1M,1F).

Although I feel you should get Jevtovic as he will most likely outscore Jelavic.

Deffo B, spread the love in Rosenborg, not value-effective to have double defenders in a superior team that scores that much. Few CS and early season randomnes makes spending an FT on goalie something of a luxury, especially this early in the season (unless there is a WC in play).
