Up next this busy Friday evening, we dive into the Opta data with our usual pre-Gameweek members’ article assessing the main captaincy candidates for the upcoming round of fixtures.

To get underway, we check in with the Captain Poll contenders, then examine the Opta numbers and Rate My Team rankings before highlighting a differential or two to help advise on your armband dilemma.

Yes. Has to be hokey cokey. Otherwise a very bold move of Siggy to Zaha and Lukaku to Kane if the money works out, but I wouldnt advise it.

Oh wait, 3 Spurs. Then either Eriksen out and upgrade Lukaku, or personally I'd save

Firmino out Zaha in for -4?
Is it wise move or..leave Firmino and get Zaha for GW34?

Just did Sanchez & Origi > Zaha & Kane (-4) Feel a little sick losing Sanchez pretty tempted to TC Kane this week. As I really want to WC 36 ready for 37 with 15 DGW players.

Reposting from earlier in the week, as it's the best thing I've posted in months:

Both Lukaku and Kane offer great captain (and triple captain) options this week, and both have around 51% goal involvement for their teams. To separate them, I've been looking at how vulnerable their opponents are to conceding against 'big' teams and strikers. To do this, I've gone down the results section on the BBC for BUR and BOU away from home this season, and jotted down the positions of the scorers against them. I could have missed a game or two, but I think that both sides have conceded in 13 away games this season, totaling 30 and 33 goals respectively.

Positions of scoring players are (subject to my own subjective judgement and knowledge):

    Scoring against Burnley :
    Center Backs: 2
    Full Backs: 3
    Midfielders; 6
    Wingers; 7
    Strikers 10
    OG; 1
    Pen; 1

    Scoring against Bournemouth:
    Center Backs: 4
    Full Backs: 1
    Midfielders; 4
    Wingers; 9
    Strikers 13
    OG; 2
    Pen; 0

    Results against the top 7:

    Burnley: 3-0, 0-0, 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, 2-1 = 11 total
    Bournemouth; 4-0, 3-1, 3-0, 6-3, 1-1, 2-2 = 19 total

Based on this, it seems to me that Burnley are more vulnerable to conceding to players coming from deep (mids and full-backs), with Bournemouth more vulnerable to conventional attacking players and set plays. Added to that, Burnley seem to be surprisingly resilient against the big teams away from home

Looking at the opponent I favour Kane, looking at the striker I favour Lukaku. Tough decisions, but both should score big at the end of the day.

Nice analysis ... I've started to pay more attention to the positions the score against different team

The stats back up the logic ...

Burnley are a defensive team set up to deal with strikers - so goals are more likely to come from deep or defenders at set pieces

Bournemouth are an attacking team, so the opposing striker has an easier job and is more likely to score

      Good post!

I dont know which one to captain. Lukaku seems to be the obvious choice because he has the form and havent been injured. But Spurs are really hot right now and I wouldent be suprised if Kane scored 2+ goals.

If you have both or can get Kane easily then for me he seems the best captaincy, though you have to sprinkle in the fact he may get limited minutes.

I have both but all my friends in my ML have lukaku and they will prolly use C on him. im leading the ML atm so I should captain Lukaku to be on the safe side but im tempted to captain Kane instead, is it stupid? i should add that i also own eriksen and Alli.

The other Spurs players that you probably have are good too.

I'm in the same situation and I'm going to risk it for this week and hope that he's subbed early and doesn't outscore the other Spurs player and Lukaku by that much. Then we can look at him again for next week.

Davies to Gibson or Bailly (three Spurs)? Neither will be used this GW. Already have Valdés. Thinking of spreading risk with Bailly + he has SWA in GW35. If I get Gibson I can bring in King for GW35 and go AOA with Gibson on the bench.
