An largely uninspired encounter, marked by a moment of brilliance from Emre Can. Liverpool’s 1-0 victory was priceless, from a Fantasy perspective, it was notable only for Philippe Coutinho’s early exit. Here’s the Stock Check from the final match of Gameweek 35.

In Decline

Philippe Coutinho
The Brazilian went into Monday’s clash as part of just over a million FPL squads, having been acquired by more than 50,000 new Fantasy Premier League owners ahead of Liverpool’s Vicarage Road visit.

In addition, Coutinho claimed the armband for 122,000 managers who had big expectations having seen the midfielder score in four of his last five Gameweek starts.

But his night lasted less than ten minutes before he suffered a dead leg in a clash with Watford’s Adrian Mariappa; a collision which ultimately led to Coutinho succumbing to the injury on 12 minutes.

His departure saw the re-introduction of Adam Lallana following a five Gameweek absence, but that will have been little consolation for Coutinho’s owners.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed post-match that the injury should not represent a major setback…

“He has a dead leg, hopefully it’s not too serious but of course it’s really painful and no chance [he could continue]. Everybody could see he tried hard, but no chance.”

While he will be expected to be back in contention for the visit of Southampton in Gameweek 36, Coutinho’s single point return at Watford, coupled with any minor doubt of his participation against the Saints, will undoubtedly accelerate sales.

He is already hovering outside the top five for transfers out, with 22,000+ jettisoning Coutinho so far, with traffic moving to both Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard in particular.

Roberto Firmino is not far behind his team-mate and compatriot. He went into the Watford encounter having returned in each of his last five Gameweeks, producing two goals and three assists.

Despite that form, his Monday night blank will exacerbate recent sales, with Firmino already ranked fourth behind Coutinho, Son Heung-min and Wilfried Zaha among FPL midfielders.

Quite simply, with Wildcards active, double Gameweek assets are dominant and despite Liverpool’s obliging run-in, both Coutinho and Firmino look set to become unlikely differentials for those without the option of an end of season refresh.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What do you think guys? Not an excellent team value so have to make the best out of it. Might do Alli + Costa --> Sane + Kane, but have a good feeling about this.

    Caballero Pickford
    Alonso Gabriel Yoshida Stephens Holgate
    Ozil Alli Eriksen Hazard King

No Kane nor Sanch, but I'm sure you've thought of that 🙂

Well covered tbf with Ozil and Alli Erik. If you like it, leave it like that.

    Bottomed, so RP

    All, does this look sensible?

    Heaton
    Alonso - Davies - Holgate
    Coutinho - King - Sanchez - Eriksen
    Kane - Lukaku - Gabbiadini

    Nordfeldt - Carroll - Chambers - Gibson

    GW 36 (-8): Coutinho -> Ozil
    Lukaku -> Jesus

    GW 37 (-4): Ozil -> Hazard
Heaton -> Courtois or Gibson -> Azpilicueta

Any help here... planning to bench boost in 37. *Starred* players are an issue, even after much planning I have ended up with the likes of Valencia & Walks who seemed good picks a few weeks back 🙁

      DDG / *Jaku*
      *Walks* / *Valencia* / *Stones* / Stephens / *Chambo*
      Alli / Sanchez / Sane / *Cout* / *Zaha*
      Kane / Gabbi / *Lukaku*

Shiz. Erm, best to figure out who you could conceivably keep for your bb and who can go. Kaku has WAT and Zaha has HUL I believe so you could feasibly keep them (I got rid of Zaha but you have bigger issues). Keep stones too.

I'd be tempted to move out Walker and Valencia for Kosc and Alonso this week, then maybe chambers and Cout to dgwers next time out. Tough job though!

It's not all bad, at least your guys have decent sgws :). Just have to manage it as best you can to stay competitive. Unless you wana take a huge hit!

Keeping stones fwiw, I also own. But walker and Valencia you should be switching I think, sadly, then see what you can do next week

Thanks for the input mate 🙂 How does this look?..

              Valencia+Walker > Cahill+Gabriel (-4)?

              Leaves money ITB for Coutinho+Lukaku > Hazard+Jesus (-4) for BB in GW37.

No problem dude. Sorry for late reply.

yeah, that looks good - I'm thinking of Cahill myself next week as all my rivals have Alonso. Hoping for a 30pter (goal and cs x2) in the SGW hehe.

FWIW, my defence is also a shambles:

Yoshi Holgate Stones(yf) / Bailly (yf) Barragan

Will have to muddle through this week and hope Stones or Bailly starts - already taken the -4 and don't think -8 for Cahill is worthy!!

        Hey mate

I'd be tempted to swap out Bavies to Vert, more nailed in case of a Rose comeback. Also be looking at Firmino maybe moving to JWP then Ozil to Sanch. Not having Sanchez could really finish you off he explodes, which ok past form says is unlikely but past history says could happen, so I'd be worried about taking that risk.

        Otherwise, g2g

Could do jaku to pick. Prefer cech because minimum 4 points a week is always better than 2 . Also Southampton and united might blank.

And about going sanchezless, i agree about the risks it has. I prefer ozil because he is nailed, cheaper , and also Is not in many WC teams.
So i .Getting a player who'll start all 6 plus Is a big differential. Worth the risk imo. Also got nothing to lose. This is the way to climb up the ranks 😀 let's have some fun

Cool, keep Cech then and do Jaku to Pick, then try to not tinker too much, I think the rest of the squad is a really good use of the resources at your disposal.

My ML rival is an Arsenal fan and he has NOT got Sanchez in for the doubles.
      He got Jesus in!

He's leading by 8 points and has no TC or BB.

Sanchez TC a no brainer for me?

Also thinking of getting Jesus in and blocking him. It could hurt if I don't have him.

Sanchez TC is not really a good choice to be honest, you know its going to end 4x3 in current form.

Whether you want to go with that option anyway because of no alternative is different story...

I'm going with him and not expecting anything more than 4 pointer

My other options would Hazard, Kane or Jesus this week but they all have a single fixture this week and have to BB in 37.

I know Sanchez doesn't have the form but a player of his quality can produce anytime & against any team. Just hoping he gets a goal atleast!

Keep an eye on Rose injury news, regardless I don't think hell get straight back into the team considering how well they've been playing and CS wise.

Arsenal fan aswell so unsure of Gabriel's play time, he played awful against spurs - can see Wenger either swapping him out for Holiding or Mustafi (dependant on fitness)

My ML leader increased the gap to 32pts this GW mainly because of a 1minute happening.

King scoring, ML leader= 11 points, me fromPickford 10pts>3pts

Same as me, but have Alli instead of Eriksen.

        Thoughts:

IMO we can't bench Sanchez, Eriksen/Alli, Hazard, Kane and Jesus.

So it's Tadic vs, Gabbi vs. King.

        - King: Plays home against Stoke. Bournemouth is in good shape and look at King's form. Adobe is also injured and King will play up front.

So I think it's between Tadic and Gabbi.

        Tadic:
--> Pros: Midfielder more points if scoring, more diff than Gabbi and could still be on penalties, nailed
        --> Cons: Bad form

        Gabbi:
--> Pros: Less risk (ownership), looks like he can score against every team
--> Cons: could easily rotate with Long/Rodriguez, just back from long term injury

Conclusion: I would bench Tadic or Gabbi. I had a poll yesterday and it went 2-2. So it's close. IMO it's down to your position in your ML. I am chasing just behind the leader and he has Gabbi and not Tadic. I will therefore go riski and bench Gabbi.

Do you have some inputs? 🙂

With the Ibra injury derailing my plans I am left with GW36 Triple C chip & GW37 BB chip.
Looks like Sanchez is my Triple C choice, feeling very uneasy about this!

        Me too.

But I'm confident he can atleast get a goal in one of those fixtures. I would more than happy with that!

hes not playing well in a team that arent playing well

theres nothing in his stats to suggest he is going to find the form he had playing up front

his body language suggests he has given up on this team.

struggling to pick my starting 11 for the DGW, any help much appreciated:

      DDG Pickford
      Yoshida Gabirel Huth Vertongen Alonso
      Sanchez King Eriksen Haz Tadic
      Gabbi Kane Anichebe

If in doubt, I would go with the players who have something to play for:

        So:
        DDG
        Vert, Alonso, Gabriel
        Sanchez, Eriksen, Hazard
        Kane

Then add King due to form.

And then 2 of the remaining - Huth/Yoshida and Gabbi for me.

I thought so.. Well he had two free I think, he has a TC left and benchboost, hopefully he messes those chips up. I've used my triple captain have BB left. I'm half a dozen points off

      (Pickford, Caballero)

Indeed. Not much point in having JWP money on the bench, since all of those mids will get some minutes IMO.
