An largely uninspired encounter, marked by a moment of brilliance from Emre Can. Liverpool’s 1-0 victory was priceless, from a Fantasy perspective, it was notable only for Philippe Coutinho’s early exit. Here’s the Stock Check from the final match of Gameweek 35.

In Decline

Philippe Coutinho
The Brazilian went into Monday’s clash as part of just over a million FPL squads, having been acquired by more than 50,000 new Fantasy Premier League owners ahead of Liverpool’s Vicarage Road visit.

In addition, Coutinho claimed the armband for 122,000 managers who had big expectations having seen the midfielder score in four of his last five Gameweek starts.

But his night lasted less than ten minutes before he suffered a dead leg in a clash with Watford’s Adrian Mariappa; a collision which ultimately led to Coutinho succumbing to the injury on 12 minutes.

His departure saw the re-introduction of Adam Lallana following a five Gameweek absence, but that will have been little consolation for Coutinho’s owners.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed post-match that the injury should not represent a major setback…

โ€œHe has a dead leg, hopefully it’s not too serious but of course itโ€™s really painful and no chance [he could continue]. Everybody could see he tried hard, but no chance.โ€

While he will be expected to be back in contention for the visit of Southampton in Gameweek 36, Coutinho’s single point return at Watford, coupled with any minor doubt of his participation against the Saints, will undoubtedly accelerate sales.

He is already hovering outside the top five for transfers out, with 22,000+ jettisoning Coutinho so far, with traffic moving to both Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard in particular.

Roberto Firmino is not far behind his team-mate and compatriot. He went into the Watford encounter having returned in each of his last five Gameweeks, producing two goals and three assists.

Despite that form, his Monday night blank will exacerbate recent sales, with Firmino already ranked fourth behind Coutinho, Son Heung-min and Wilfried Zaha among FPL midfielders.

Quite simply, with Wildcards active, double Gameweek assets are dominant and despite Liverpool’s obliging run-in, both Coutinho and Firmino look set to become unlikely differentials for those without the option of an end of season refresh.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

May I ask what players you took out??
It just I'm thinking this template we've all mocked up could fail and those with no wildcard and a more unusual team be the absolute beneficiaries in all this.

      Your DDG is actually refreshing!

Yeah all those players you shifted in are good dgw players. I tbibk Double arsenal defense is a risk though.
But you have to play the game for these dgw even though It was a pretty big hit

    Conundrum.

22 point lead to nearest rival in mini league. He's likely to use his TC this week on Sanchez. Do I just captain Sanchez to nullify any gains? (I'm on wildcard so no hits, he's used his wildcard)

If you had to pick an Arsenal mid that wasn't Alexis who would it be ... they are so bereft of anything half attractive.

    Perhaps Wally?

I'm not doing this BTW, just curious as to what people's options are for 2 x DGWs from (what used to be) a top 4 side.

sooo im thinking about leaving JWP on my bench for his double :/

    my options are:
    a) TC Sanchez, bench JWP??
    b) AoA. bench Rano (whos in great form @home sunderland), play JWP

    Pickford
    Alonso - Yoshida - Ranocchia
    King - Sánchez(c) - Alli - Hazard
    Jesus - Gabbiadini - Kane
    Hennessey
    Ward-Prowse!
    Bailly
    Davies

I know. Last year had a much bigger scope for differentials on wildcards - now we've only got 1 big DGW with essentially only three form teams (Chelsea, Spurs, City). Everyone has Arsenal and Southampton because of the double double but no real conviction they'll do well.

Other DGW teams like Watford and WBA with nothing to play for and/or really horrible fixtures...

Captain calls are going to be bigger than usual these coming weeks, along with a good couple of differentials on defence.

B would be the differential move if you are chasing.
      Most will do A.

is JWP going to score more total than sanchez average over two i suppose is the question. and will Rano score more over one than JWP over two.

        kuck fnows is the answer

      Play AOA and play Rano?
Yosh 1st sub? I don't see clean sheets from Liverpool match with top 4 in grasp or from Arsenal in a must-win to stay in contention for top 4

I wonder if it is smart to have 6 Chelsea and Arsenal players considering that they all may be rested GW 38 if Chelsea clinch and Arsenal are eliminated... since they play 6 days later in the FA Cup

Dont think Chelsea will rest Hazard/Costa, others might get benched like one or two defenders for Ake/Terry/Zouma.

Not sure about Arsenal, anything can happen by then...

I disagree, if the league is won by then we can expect conte to start the likes of Willian or Bats, just as he did in the FA Cup

Willian can start over Pedro. Batshuayi probably has no future at Chelsea, so no point in giving him gametime especially when Costa will be going for golden boot

well if spurs lose to whu and chelsea win spurs have to make up 7 points from 9 over chelsea so really the title could be wrapped up this gw BEFORE the doubles.
      nearly everyone has 5 chelsea/spurs

A non template team that does well is going to SHOOT UP the ranks like crazy.
I'm shocked we've all ended up with practically the same teams

    1. Holmes

The FEAR to drop in rank makes everyone go with same team... *facepalm*

But on the other side, the template team is template for a reason.

      1. Pierce34

I think only Sanchez is fear. The rest are just common sense - triple Spurs and Chelsea for example, Sane, Jesus etc. You wouldn't pick, say, Watford players over them.

You can pick someone else instead of doubling on Southampton defense/Holgate or someone over Albrighton/JWP or Vardy over Jesus/Costa or Barnes over Anichebe ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

As I said, they are template for a reason, must be good pick, otherwise wouldnt have been template but there is room for some tweaks here and there, especially when it comes to bench players...

True. Though with Southampton for example, an extra two games (provided they don't get destroyed!) amount to essentially a clean sheet in terms of points just for turning up.

Thoughts on this team? No WC left.

    Heaton. Pickford.
    Alonso. Bailly. Maguire. Stephens. Gibson.
    Sanchez. Hazard. Alli. Zaha. King.
    Kane. Jesus. Gabbiadini.

Barring injuries, Gibson will probably become Monreal before 37

I wouldn't double up on ManCity defense. If you get a midfield injury, you want the flexibility to shift to Sane/Sterling for 37 I think.

      Pedro is a nice differential.

Defenders with interesting potential 4.8 and under??
    4.8 Gabriel (2DGW), Cook, Lovren
    4.7 Gibbs (2DGW)
4.6 Morgan (DGW), Stones (DGW), Holebas (DGW), Mawson
4.5 Janmaat (DGW) Ranocchia, Smith, Francis
4.4 Yoshida (2DGW), Evans (DGW), O;Shea (DGW) Maguire, Robertson
    4.3 Prodl (DGW)
4.2 Stephens (2DGW), Kone (DGW), Olsson
    4.1 Holgate
4.0 Benalouane (DGW), Mariappa (DGW), Holding (2DGW)
    3.9 Love (DGW)
    3.8 Ake (DGW)

Who else? Who do you like beyond the obvious and template picks?

For example, I like Mawson/Olsson for 37 at Sunderland and 38 at home to WBA with relegation possibly on the line.
