Diego Costa and Marcos Alonso are among the goals as Chelsea move one step closer to the title with a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough to place question marks over their Gameweek 37 and 38 teamsheets.

On the Rise

Diego Costa
The second most-captained player in the Gameweek, Costa struck his 20th league goal of 2016/17 as the Blues soared seven points clear of Spurs with three fixtures remaining.

Backed by over 10% of FPL managers with the Gameweek captaincy, the Spain international is second only to Gabriel Jesus for transfers in up front since Friday’s deadline passed – more than 38,000 have already acquired his services as the league leaders prepare for a Double Gameweek 37 that hands them a trip to West Brom and a home tie with Watford.

The main concern, though, is if Chelsea win at The Hawthorns on Friday night, then the title is already over before Spurs can kick another ball in anger.

Given that they also face Arsenal in the FA Cup final on May 27 – six days after the Gameweek 38 home clash against relegated Sunderland – then a victory against the Baggies means that Conte could opt to rest and rotate his regulars over those final two home matches, potentially scuppering our plans.

However, it’s worth noting that Costa has played 90 minutes in each of Chelsea’s last 13 league matches, and bearing in mind that summer signing Michy Batshuayi has failed to start a single league match thus far, the 33% holding the former Atletico Madrid man will be confident he can retain his starting berth.

Marcos Alonso
Netting Chelsea’s second in the 3-0 stroll, the Spaniard’s stunning end to the season continues to reap reward – he’s racked up two goals, an assist and a pair of clean sheets in his last four outings.

Alonso’s 14-point tally helped him reclaim top spot in the FPL defender standings ahead of team-mate Gary Cahill, with Cesar Azpilicueta sitting in third spot after providing an assist for the wing-back’s strike.

Yet there’s no doubt that the summer signing has been the main man for FPL managers in defence – an average of 5.8 points per match is identical to team-mate Costa and bettered by just six regular players over the current campaign.

Having played 90 minutes in 13 of his last 14 league appearances, Alonso has also been immune to rotation, though the likes of Nathan Ake could offer an option to Conte if he opts to rest any regulars if/when the league is won.

Cesc Fabregas
One of our three “Differentials” for Gameweek 36, the playmaker proved a timely differential ahead of Double Gameweek 37 by serving up a 12-point tally against ‘Boro.

Owned by 2% of FPL managers, Fabregas has started five successive home matches, producing double-figures on three of those occasions.

Impressively, he’s now served up attacking returns in nine of his side’s last 10 at Stamford Bridge.

With Conte perhaps keen to protect N’Golo Kante’s thigh injury with one eye on the Wembley showpiece, the 6.9-priced Fabregas could be worthy of a flutter for those remaining three league fixtures.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
Hauled off just after 70 minutes with the hosts 3-0 ahead, the Belgian failed to extend a recent run that had delivered returns in seven of eight appearances prior to last night’s victory.

While there seems little doubt that he’ll start against West Brom as Conte looks to get the title in the bag, Hazard’s pitch time continues to be managed by the Italian – he has now been subbed off in 23 of his 33 starts, more than any player in the Premier League this season.

With Pedro and Willian more than capable of delivering from the wide roles, the 34%-owned Hazard is arguably most at risk of being handed a day off than other Chelsea regulars, as Conte plots to clinch the double in his first season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It does, I've mainly focused on that because my defence just decided to collapse overnight.. Working within a budget and keeping my big hitters has been the only thing keeping me from drifting. Now my rival has Wildcarded I'm in deep shiiii trouble.

I guarantee you won't have King at the start of next season.

He'll be re-classed as a Striker and will increase in Price enough to put you off.

Fixtures will also be a huge factor in your season starting line-up.

And has reverted to type this season with 6 goals (3 of them penalties). (He's a better player than King though)

Same thing happened with Michu - one ridiculous run of goals fuelled by sky high confidence and little else his whole career.

You're right that a lot will change, but as many have already told you, the changes will be for the worse.

You're comparing a season out of nowhere from Mahrez to predicting another season of good form from King. With all due respect, how is that the same thing?

My point is that King is an ok player who is massively overperforming but next season he will be priced based on that overperformance and won't be worth it. All just my opinion, obviously 🙂

James Milner, Alonso if he is still a defender. Costa if he is still around (doubtful). Jesus, Sane.
I am extremely happy With my GK pair this season, Heaton/Pickford from gw1 and hope to find a similar gem in one of the promoted teams as Heaton will certainly be priced at 5,0 next year.

Redmond should be good value. Can see reasons to believe in development of the player himself and the team as a whole next season.
Rannochia (if Hull survive) too. Off many people's radars as was a mid-season signing. But great for cheap home clean sheets and the odd assist.

Overpriced? He averages the same as Costa. If you watched the match yesterday, he was the furthest forward a lot of the time, basically a left winger who gets clean sheet points.

Poor GW, only on 36 points (-4) at the moment, dropped to 110K, any ideas to fix this mess?

    DDG Pickford
    Vertonghen Bailly Stones Yoshida Stephens
    Hazard Ozil Sane Eriksen deRoon
    Lukaku Kane Gabbi

    1FT 0.3itb

Might go all out this GW on -12 or am I doing rage transfers?

    Lukaku > Jesus
    deRoon > Matic
    Bailly > Monreal
    Stones > Jones

They've been saying this for a while - DM kept letting slip when he was there that he tried to buy him at the last minute.

DK if it'll happen - sounds like from the guardian's spanish football coverage that Bale doesn't quite fit Zizou's style of play, though. Will have to see. Mega deal if it does go down, and great to have him back in the Prem... can imagine Mourinho trying to get him more tactically aware and tracking back a bit though, like he did with Haz last year hehe 🙂

Well that went well didn't it!

Let's hope he's given a free role like at spurs. Epic to watch the panic in the defences faces as he ran at them.

    Real dilemma guys

    GW 37
    KDB or Hazard??
Could decide the ML victory (currently have Hazard)

    1. Arsène Around
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

My instinct says stick with Hazard (and make him C) but if Chels wrap up the PL on Friday (which they will) theres very little chance of Hazard playing Watford on Monday - whereas Pep is desperate for top 4 and KDB will play full games next week, plus city are hopefully on a goalscoring mission at present

I have Costa and Cahill as Chelsea cover but I have no City attacking cover whereas rivals have Sane / Jesus

Am I being daft here in thinking of ditching Hazard (can always bring him back for the GW 38 game against Sunderland, rest of the squad is in reasonable shape

Ohhh could decide the ML - yeah you need to have a look at covering the City attack for those home games. I'm currently looking at KdB myself (see below). I'd be tempted to do it actually - fortune favours the brave - and maybe stick the armband on Kev. But it really depends how you feel about it - if you aren't comfortable with it, def don't do it cos you'll regret it more if it goes t*ts up 😀

Hazard > KDB could be covered by giving Costa the armband. He's potentially pushing for the Golden Boot and least likely to be rotated out of that front 3 for Watford I'd say.
Could bring Hazard back for Sunderland if he's threatening a haul. Its a big gamble, but I need a big haul to win this league.

    Hello all

2 spots up for grabs in my BB XV, think I've narrowed it down to the following combo, who will go for Alli (want to de-spur, ML rivals own him and not Eriksen, process of elimination call) and Bailly (probably not going to play in both or maybe either):

    A) Luiz* + Silva*
    or
    B) Kone*(Sun) + KdB*

    Team is:
    Pick Henn
    Yoshi Kompany Holgate Monreal Bailly*
    Eriksen Sanchez Hazard King Alli*
    Jesus Kane Anichebe

Luiz I like at 6.2 to give me another Chelsea body, but surely will be taken out for Ake/Terry after Friday, so I'd only be buying for one game. Huth has been suggested - have had a look but don't get a good gut feel about Leicester in those matches.

Silva an under-the-radar target given how well KdB did last weekend... but with Silva in the team, KdB looks like he's pushed forward a lot more, and is the least rotation threatened out of all of them. And Kone is in the shop window for Sunderland, and a good enabler for KdB at 4.2, so I'm sure he'll be imperious!

Which is the best option, guys? I'm thinking B atm.

    Thanks 😀
