A moment of brilliance from Alexis Sanchez unlocks Southampton at St Maryโ€™s, the Gunners deliver a second clean sheet over Double Gameweek 36, but the Saintsโ€™ Manolo Gabbiadini fails to find the net again.

On the Rise

Alexis Sanchez
The most captained player for Gameweek 36, Sanchezโ€™s opener in the 2-0 triumph was just reward for the patience of his 27% FPL ownership after a dire run of recent form.

Itโ€™s two goals in eight league outings now for the Arsenal man, who extended his lead at the top of the FPL standings after also claiming maximum bonus points at St Maryโ€™s for an overall 14-point Gameweek 36 return.

The stats are still troubling โ€“ Sanchez scored with his only shot on target over clashes with Man United and Southampton.

But the determination to net that excellent solo effort suggests his armband potential shouldnโ€™t be dismissed as the Gunners prepare for another pair of fixtures, with Arsene Wengerโ€™s side travelling to Stoke City before entertaining Sunderland in midweek.

Rob Holding
The summer signing was one of only three Arsenal defenders, along with Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs, to start both double Gameweek fixtures. He ended as their top-scoring outfield asset, earning bonus points from each of his clean sheets.

Holding had featured in just one league match from Gameweek 4 onwards prior to the double, but the recent switch to three at the back seems to have boosted his prospects and elevated him ahead of Gabriel in the pecking order.

Despite the absence of Laurent Koscielny, Wenger was able to recall Shkodran Mustafi and once again bench the Brazilian โ€“ much to the chagrin of the 51,000+ who acquired Gabriel prior to last week.

It remains to be seen whether heโ€™ll retain his role once Wenger has a fully fit quota of defenders to choose from, but thereโ€™s no denying that the 4.0-priced Holding was one of the stand-out performers over the Gameweek.

The former Bolton man chalked up 15 points and has collected over 14,000 new owners in the last 24 hours alone ahead of Double Gameweek 37 and a final day home match against Everton.

Petr Cech
Yet again, goalkeepers prevailed in a double Gameweek.

First it was Stokeโ€™s Lee Grant (13 points in Gameweek 27) and then Unitedโ€™s David de Gea served up 17 points in Gameweek 34.

The Gunnersโ€™ top-scoring player on 16 points, Cech was second only to the Saintsโ€™ Fraser Forster, who earned 17 points thanks to his spot-kick save at Anfield on Sunday.

Yet the Arsenal stopper was the more consistent option, earning a clean sheet, one save point and a single bonus point in both of his appearances.

Having returned at least one save point in 14 successive league outings, Cech, at 5.3, remains a strong option between the posts for those favourable final three fixtures.

In Decline

Manolo Gabbiadini
Drafted in by over 108,000 FPL managers for Southamptonโ€™s matches with Liverpool and the Gunners, the Italian proved a bitter disappointment.

Gabbiadini scored four times in his first three league outings but has mustered just a single assist in the subsequent six as Claude Puelโ€™s side struggle for a cutting edge.

Despite boasting a Double Gameweek 37 โ€“ away to Middlesbrough and at home to Man United โ€“ the winter signing is now facing a backlash, with over 12,000 owners parting company since last Fridayโ€™s deadline.

Having failed to find the net in four of their last five league matches, thereโ€™s a growing concern that the Saints are now at least halfway to the beach.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Revitalised by a recent stint at wing-back in the Gunnersโ€™ new 3-4-2-1 formation, Oxlade-Chamberlainโ€™s pair of assists at home to Man United suggested he could prosper as a budget-friendly option for the upcoming Double Gameweek 37.

Indeed, over 15,000 FPL managers had already acquired his services with one eye on the remaining matches only to watch him limp out of action before the break last night.

Post-match, Wenger admitted he was uncertain on the extent of Oxlade-Chamberlainโ€™s hamstring injury.

But with the FA Cup final later this month, the Gunners boss may look to manage the midfielderโ€™s fitness ahead of that Wembley clash against Chelsea.

I don't see why he would be dropped.

Arsenal now on a mini roll and Wenger showed yesterday by picking the same team (Koscielny injury aside) that he will more than likely stick with the winning formula while it lasts.

Worth the gamble at 4.0m with two good fixtures if you ask me.

If kos is fit, that's when he would be dropped.
He's playing well but he's not a first team regular.
Only way he stays is if Gibbs is dropped instead and Monreal LWB

Struggling with this myself. I need a Gabriel replacement and deciding between Holding and Gibbs.

I wonder if he'll do it the other way - play most of the first XI but not all.

Perhaps put Cahill on the bench and play Terry from the start - huge standing ovation as he goes off and passes the captaincy back to the man that's captained them this season.

        Cant afford Mustafi/Monreal without hits.

        Kelly + Holgate + Costa -->

        A. Monreal + Ake + Jesus

        B. Mustafi + Holding + Jesus

Look for that and please help

    Gabriel - Blind - King - Kane >
Holding - Benalouane- KDB - Jesus
    For -12 pts

Losing King and Kane for a -12 looks like madness to me. Holding and Benalouane not nailed.

If chasing and those are pure differentials, go for it. Nothing to lose.

Hello, is there anywhere you can see current points totals for major overall rank milestones (top 100, 1000, 10k, etc)? Sometimes see them stickied on here and thought they might be on FPLdiscovery but can't seem to track them down...

Go to overall rankings in FPL

      Top 100 = pg2
      Top 1000 = pg20
      Top 10000 = pg 200
      Etc
      Etc
      Etc

24 points behind top 10k - definitely doable.

        49 behind top 5k - pushing it

24pts off top 1k, with BB incoming... Feels like a bit of a lottery now but hopefully can get over the line

Infantino doing a bang up job at FIFA by getting rid of the independent ethics committee that would most likely have been investigating him in 5 years time

Am thinking about getting Sanchez along with KDB and Hazard.

To fund it id need to sell either Costa or Kane?

What do you think and who would you sell of them 2?

What's your worst fantasy move of the whole season? The one that keeps you up at night?

I got rid of Alonso before the Leicester game to free up funds to go De Roon -> Snodgrass....

Bringing in Costa instead of Vardy before he went on his run

Bringing in Baines for 6 weeks of sitting on my bench (got a bit unlucky)

Dropping Siggy for Lallana earlier in the season cost me over 35pts

Dropping Sanchez for Hazard and resulting moves cost me 34pts over the last 2 gameweeks.

Those will stick in the memory

Mine was more of inaction, and I suppose we all have these stories, but I recall talking up Kane prior to Stoke at home and was really close to getting him in as captain on a 4pt hit... in the end I tried to protect my rank by going with the dullard move of Sanchez --> Mane instead of Ibra --> Kane(c). He scored a hatty and an assist. Next season I'm going to be way more aggressive.

Oh actually Costa --> Ibra --> Negredo(c)(-4) when Ibra got injured midweek was particularly brutal
