A day of goals and points aplenty ends with the main event as Spurs host Manchester United in the final fixture to be played at White Hart Lane.

A momentous day for the club, it’s unfortunate for Spurs and for owners of their key Fantasy assets, that the result is somewhat academic.

While Mauricio Pochettino’s men will look to provide their supporters with a fitting sign-off, they will need to lift themselves following the Gameweek 36 reverse at West Ham and Chelsea’s title-winning triumph that followed.

Fantasy managers will be hoping for a quick revival.

Dele Alli and Harry Kane head into the tea-time kick-off owned by 33.8% and 20% of FPL managers respectively, while Christian Eriksen is still found in 18.6% of squads. Kyle Walker also remains the top owned defender (30.7%), although he again misses out today with Kieran Trippier preferred at right-back.

For Kane, there should be no need for extra motivation. He will not only seek to score the final goal at White Hart Lane, he is still giving chase to both Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the race for the Golden Boot. He his currently level with Arsenal’s Chilean on 21 goals, trailing the Everton striker by three.

Kane has seven goals from his last six starts but has yet to score against visitors Manchester United in six attempts.

Jose Mourinho’s side arrive to present another line-up influenced by their Europa League campaign. The United manager makes predictable changes following Thursday’s hard-fought 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo as Wayne Rooney starts, along with Anthony Martial in attack.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I 100% agree that it's a Rooney goal. It should only be an OG when 100% proven, which this can't be.

      1. Lawrø
        • 14 Years
        8 years, 9 months ago

I agree in principle but they can't just change the principle during the season - they've been acting on evidence without proving up until this point so why are they changing now and not at the beginning of next season!

If FPL is going to grow bigger, they need to have rules and consistency in these matters. Could be lawsuits.

        3. Philman
          • 16 Years
          8 years, 9 months ago

What principle have they changed? If they have evidence that is conclusive, they have changed decisions. In this case, there is no camera angle that proves it wasn't on target, so the goal stands.

          1. Ziro
            • 11 Years
            8 years, 9 months ago

I think you are going on the wrong incident for proving evidence. The Vert touch is not in question as the last foot to kick the ball to goal. In that case then, the next onus is on whether Rooney's shot is on target. If we are not sure on Rooney's shot, then Vert as clearly having the last touch to be given OG.

Am I making sense or I am mental?

            1. Philman
              • 16 Years
              8 years, 9 months ago

I see what you are saying, and I agree, when you look at it that way.

However, I think the principle has ALWAY been to favour the attacker, and to prove against the attacker. I don't see any principle change there, but please feel free to argue a situation where this has not been the case, to prove inconsistency.

          2. Lawrø
            • 14 Years
            8 years, 9 months ago

"It should only be an OG when 100% proven'' - That one.

Then you look at this OG where there was clearly doubt and yet they gave it: https://streamable.com/66jta

So they still award OGs when there is doubt. So to stick by the precedence they've set themselves we look at the evidence we have: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2017/05/14/dugout-discussion-spurs-vs-man-united/?hc_page=17#hc_comment_15700217

And this looks like it's going wide similarly to Aguero's but like you say we can't say for sure.

            1. Philman
              • 16 Years
              8 years, 9 months ago

So that was given as an OG and not an Aguero goal?

              1. Lawrø
                • 14 Years
                8 years, 9 months ago

                Correct. Mings OG, Aguero assist.

            2. Philman
              • 16 Years
              8 years, 9 months ago

For me, that should be an Aguero goal. There is no way you can prove that Aguero's touch will not send the ball into the far corner - the benefit should go to the attacker.

              1. Lawrø
                • 14 Years
                8 years, 9 months ago

Okay, good. But it was so it's settled FPL aren't abiding by the principle - "It should only be an OG when 100% proven''

So now my argument was that they should use the same criteria to judge the Rooney goal and only change how they judge these things between seasons! 😛

                  • 16 Years
                  8 years, 9 months ago

For me, they got the Aguero goal wrong, and Rooney right, hahaha!!

                8 years, 9 months ago

Which is where the inconsistency creeps in, Basically, those guys sitting there at Match Centre are having coffee and tallying the players they have in their FPL teams. They bite into biscuits and make trades like you can have an Alonso goal if I can get Rooney's. 😉

            3. Philman
              • 16 Years
              8 years, 9 months ago

I remember a Clint Dempsey goal in a DGW a few years back that was clearly off target and got deflected into the corner. It only just managed to be on target after the deflection. The goal was bizarrely given.

Clearly they are not sticking to one "principle" this season, which is your argument, and I agree with, but at least the decisions are better then they used to be.

      Indeed.

If your player misses the first match he will get points from the 2nd match. Assuming Gabbi plays. 😉

Tried to differentiate by going double Spurs def and ignoring their mids for 36/37.

Got lucky with the mids but the Vert and Davies combo hasn't really paid off. Think I lost 10 points from that goal.
