The Stock Check – Gameweek 37 – Monday

After clinching the title at West Bromwich Albion on Friday, Antonio Conte makes nine changes to his Chelsea line-up for a home encounter against Watford.

Cesar Azpilicueta then emerges as the Blues’ unlikely Double Gameweek 37 hero, but Eden Hazard fails to take advantage of back-to-back starts.

On the Rise

Cesar Azpilicueta
One of only two Chelsea players to retain their starting berths from Friday’s win at West Brom, the Spaniard is currently the top-scoring player for Double Gameweek 37 on 20 points.

Azpilicueta was shifted out of the back-three and handed a right wing-back berth as Victor Moses was afforded the night off entirely, and he picked a fine time to net his first goal of the season in the 4-3 win over Watford.

With an assist and clean sheet also accrued at The Hawthorns, the versatile defender was the big winner from the Chelsea contingent – only one other team-mate, Michy Batshuayi, managed double-figures (11 points) over the Blues’ pair of fixtures.

Azpilicueta has now served up 30 points in his last three appearances and, with a home clash against Sunderland still to follow, is just seven points behind team-mate Marcos Alonso at the top of the defender standings.

Cesc Fabregas
Named among the subs against the Hornets, the Chelsea playmaker once again highlighted his ability to deliver points from limited pitch-time by emerging from the bench to fire the decisive strike.

As he’s owned by a mere 3% of FPL managers, Fabregas was largely overlooked for the Double Gameweek, yet, like Azpilicueta, he’s upped his output as the season comes to a close – it’s a goal and four assists in five now for the playmaker.

Afforded just 12 minutes off the bench last night, you’d expect him to return to the first XI against the Black Cats, with Conte perhaps now looking to protect N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic’s minutes with one eye on the FA Cup final against Arsenal at the end of the month.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
The Belgian was a surprise starter in last night’s seven-goal thriller, but he was unable to get among the points despite playing the full 90 minutes.

Backed by 304,000+ FPL managers with the armband, the 33%-owned Hazard delivered a mere five points across the Blues’ pair of fixtures as his campaign stumbles to a close.

The winger has served up just a single assist in his last four league appearances, scoring once in six top-flight outings ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Black Cats.

As the only attacker to retain his place from the Baggies win, Hazard’s minutes could be the most in question for the Sunderland match as Conte looks towards the Wembley showdown in a bid to clinch the double in his first season at the helm.

Over 12,700 have already parted company since Friday’s deadline – only Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has earned more sales among FPL midfielders.

It seems that there's a danger that everyone will do Hazard to Coutinho, and it will have minimal effect. If you really want to change your rank, you'll need to be more creative.

          True that
Works the other way as well
Went Benteke (-1) instead of following the herd with Ibra (15) the week he played Sunderland
          Most captained him too

But you have an incredibly generic (good) team and a good rank so you clearly don't follow your own advice.

It was KDB last week that the points chasers were getting in

Fpl managers need to take a deep breath sometimes and realize that last weeks man is just that
How many times this season did a player get back to back best gw score?

This! I somehow don't think Coutinho will get a big score next week.
Weird logic like he can't get another big haul..he never did this season
        More tempted by Origi /Sturridge

I agree but some want to protect rank so I will go Hazard to Coutinho. Also KDB has another game tonight to boost his GW score.

Having (reasonably) successfully taken 34 hits so far i'm thinking of a final -8.
    Any opinions on:

Bertrand, Hazard, Gabbi → Fernandez, Coutinho, Vardy

My philosophy of backing whoever plays at home against Bournemouth and Middlesbrough has worked well in the past.

Looks decent..I'd get Jesus/Sturridge/Giroud ahead of Vardy though

-8 on last week is not worth it IMO
Moves are really good but at most the hits will be covered,You might not gain a lot of points however captain Coutinho might.
Hazard and Betrand could both outscore Fernandez and Coutinho

        Would give me
        Cech,
        Alonso, Azpi, Stephens
        Coutinho, KDB, Sanchez, Eriksen, King
        Jesus, Vardy

        (Caballero, Fernandez, Holding, Rashford)

At the moment i have 2 strikers who probably won't play (Rashford and Gabbi) and I'm also worried that Hazard will be rested. Stephens and Holding also aren't guaranteed a start so I'm worried about being left short.

To afford the other moves + I have Stephens (if he plays).
I could swap out Alonso instead if he's at risk of not playing.

My manager has just revealed he's a fantasy football fan and we had a long chat about Pep's rotation policies and the relative merits of 3-5-2 with Anichebe or Barnes as an enabler this season. The office is suddenly a much more interesting place.

I know it's not FPL but does this acca win or lose over the following week?

ARSENAL v Sunderland - home win
MAN CITY v Wba - home win
JUVENTUS v Lazio (Coppa Italia final) - double chance home or draw 90'
CHELSEA v Sunderland - home win
ARSENAL v Everton - home win
LIVERPOOL v Middlesbrough - home win
Watford v MAN CITY - away win.

    Thanks 😉
