After Alexis Sanchez ended Double Gameweek 37 with a season-high 27 points, Wednesday night’s meeting at St Mary’s has a lot to live up to.

Southampton entertain Manchester United in the penultimate showdown of a seven-day round of fixtures, and it’s fair to say that Claude Puel and Jose Mourinho both owe us a favour after their recent penchant for rotation scuppered many best-laid wildcard plans.

The Saints’ boss reinstalls a number of regulars after the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday. Snapped up by 40,000+ and 27,000+ respectively for their second successive Double Gameweek, Jack Stephens and Manolo Gabbiadini return to the first XI along with the likes of Dusan Tadic, Nathan Redmond and Cedric Soares.

Despite mustering just a single assist in his last six league outings, Gabbiadini is his side’s most captained player, with 15,000+ handing him the armband for the Double.

Fantasy faith in United is at a low as Mourinho looks to keep his main men fresh with one eye on next week’s Europa League final against Ajax.

Marcus Rashford continues to be used sparingly on the domestic stage and is handed a third successive appearance on the bench, though Wayne Rooney is named in the first XI for the fourth successive league outing.

Having found the net in three of his last four Gameweek appearances, the Red Devils’ skipper is the most captained FPL asset among Mourinho’s starting line-up, with almost 28,000 affording him the armband.

4th official must be a United fan. Deliberately put up Rooney's number.

My score reads 151. Target I set before the gw started. However, need Kane to score at least 1 to take my ML down the wire. Kane, Alli, Bavies left. Can I go close to 170?

Definitely. No reason why Kane Ali don't get a couple between them and Bavies gets a CS/assist.

Robbie Savage was trying to argue he was better than KdB after he scored that offside scorpion kick

KDB is another a level to Mkhitaryan. He was fantastic at Dortmund, had a world class season. Just been Mourinho'd.

So he did. Could've sworn Mkhitaryan won that particular award. Seems he was infact 3rd in PP. Strange one as Mkhitaryan had the better season overall I'd say. Consistency was there unlike the season before.

It's not the official one anyway but cheers.

Forgot to mention, Mkhitaryan was players' player of the season for Kicker btw 🙂 That was my mistake. Not officially.

Wouldn't argue he's better than KDB at all. KDB however is incredibly frustrating, he is simultaneously brilliant and dreadful. 40 yard ping onto a striker's boot? No problem. 5 yard pass to a team mate in CM without giving it to the opposition? Impossible.

Mkhitaryan is a bit of a weird one I think, having watched him a lot at Dortmund. Seems to be more he either has a good season or a bad season.

Mourinho can't play attacking football! his Porto and Chelsea side had a good balance. Since then, he's become ultra defensive.
