Southampton and Manchester United grind out a goalless draw at St Mary’s as Manolo Gabbiadini’s Fantasy misfortunes go from bad to worse in the penultimate match of double Gameweek 37.

On the Rise

Maya Yoshida, Jack Stephens
The only defender to survive Claude Puel’s double Gameweek tinkering, Yoshida retained his role to start for the nineteenth successive league outing in last night’s clash with Man United.

A total of nine points accrued across the pair of matches against Middlesbrough and United was more than any member of the Saints’ backline as the St Mary’s outfit collected a fifth clean sheet in 10 attempts.

Owned by a mere 5% of FPL managers, Yoshida has now delivered 33 points in his previous six home appearances. He looks a secure final-day pick at home to a Stoke City side that has failed to score in six of their previous seven on the road.

Stephens was rested for the first match of the double only to return to the Southampton XI last night and earn two bonus points.

The youngster’s ability to collect bonus is key here. He has earned 10 additional points over those five clean sheets, compared with Yoshida’s five bonus across the same fixtures – potentially a decisive factor for those currently holding both and mulling over which to bench for the Stoke match. Southampton now have three shut-outs in four with Stephens and Yoshida in the heart of defence.

Over 62,000 FPL managers owned both Yoshida and Stephens, benefiting from 17 points over the Gameweek 37 fixtures.

In Decline

Manolo Gabbiadini
Rested for the weekend win at Middlesbrough, the Italian returned to Puel’s starting XI against the Red Devils.

But as far as his loyal 8% owners are concerned, Gabbiadini may as well have warmed the bench for all the good he did.

Failing quite spectacularly as a double Gameweek asset, the winter signing stepped up to miss a penalty and deliver zero points over the Saints’ pair of fixtures before being hauled off just after the hour-mark to put his chastened ownership out of their misery.

Gabbiadini, essentially, provided a meagre four points across back-to-back doubles and now has just a single assist in his last seven league outings – a far cry from the form that harvested four goals in his first three Gameweek appearances.

Over 18,000 FPL managers have already sold him out ahead of the home encounter with Stoke – yes, he may well start, but judging by last night’s output that clearly guarantees little going on the striker’s current form.

David de Gea
United’s most popular FPL player and the third most-owned (33%) in the game, the Spaniard missed out altogether as his side chalked up a sixteenth clean sheet of the campaign – level with Chelsea and second only to Spurs’ 17.

Those still holding De Gea will now need to rely on their second keepers or dip into the market after Jose Mourinho confirmed that the Spaniard will play no further part in the season.

“David? I think the first match against LA Galaxy in pre-season in Los Angeles. I hope to play Joel Pereira against Crystal Palace, I hope to play Sergio in the final and hopefully, we don’t have problems with these two keepers”.

With Eric Bailly limping off last night and Mourinho revealing his intentions to field a number of youngsters in Sunday’s clash with Palace ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final against Ajax, there’s no surprise to see owners of the likes of Antonio Valencia (14,000+) and Marcus Rashford (18,000+) already selling and seeking alternatives.

I have all 3 and am keeping Alonso & Costa, am sure they will start on Sunday after being rested against Watford.

Hazard is the one I am inclined to ditch for Coutinho for my FT.

    Right, 0.6 ITB 1 FT

    Caballero
    Alonso - Davies - Monreal
    Hazard - King - Sanchez - Eriksen
    Kane - Jesus - Gabbi

    Nordfeldt - Carroll - Chambers - Holgate

If I bring in Countinho for Haz, I'll have 2.5m in the bank. Any other changes worthwhile for a hit?

I am considering to play Yoshida and Stephens so I would have 5 playing defenders with Vert, Alonso and Monreal.
I fancy they keep a clean sheet against Stoke so that would be 12 points.

I think people want to transfer him out due to his lack of returns lately, so saying he will be rested makes that decision easier.

Plus he played bith games of the DGW so people assume he'll be rested.

People trying to make themselves feel better after getting rid of him for Coutinho mostly.

I'm pretty sure he'll play along with the A team, except some central defender making way for Terry and maybe Kante for Fabregas.

He'll want to put a great performance for the fans on their last game.

I have a tricky GW38 ahead in my ML. I am the only one who can realistically overtake the leader and I am 18 points behind (he was a Sanchez man, I was more partial to a bit of Jesus).

Ordinarily I would use my 2FTs to bring in a differential captain and hit and hope, but we are also facing off in the final of our ML cup competition, which I would hope to win, having the stronger team on paper.

So I need to use my transfers to be different enough to his team but still have enough to win this gameweek - so not too punty. Any tips much appreciated!

Our teams are nearly identical, his differentials are in caps. He only has 1FT

    Cab (CECH) Pickford

I think your captain choice matters more, to be honest with you.

I'd be inclined to go with Jesus or get Coutinho for Alli and gamble on Liverpool, at home, smashing a pish poor relegated Boro team who will probably want no part of it on Sunday.

Or take a flyer on Fabs. Can see Chelsea putting Blunderland to the sword at the Bridge.

I'd keep Cahill. He's been scoring for fun and will probably spend 75% of the game in Sunderland's box.

I think Chelsea will want to put on a show in front of their home fans and Sunderland are truly awful. Chelsea could genuinely get double figures if they really want to.

So if a championship side win the FA cup or capital one cup, the qualify for the Europa League (group stage/playoffs) ?

    Any recent history?

Trailing in my ML - would Sterling and Alli > Couts and Fabregas be worth a -4? Considering the output of the Tottenham guys away from home on the last day, especially as I have Eriksen and Kane as well

I've cut back a 100+ point lead in one ML to 35 points. I still have Alli to his Fuchs to play this week.

He has Cabellero, Fuchs, Bertrand, Davies, DeBruyne, Pedro and Davis.

    2ft, 0itb
    * = Same players as him for next week

    Cech
    Alonso* / Monreal* / Yoshida
    Sanchez* / Hazard / Alli / Sane / King*
    Kane* / Jesus*

    Pickford / Stephens / Holgate / Anichebe*

    A) Anichebe to Llorente and Kane to Sturridge
    B) Anichebe to Llorente and King to Carroll
    C) Kane to Studdige and King to Fabrigas
    D) Something else

    Thoughts???

      Very tough to beat him
      Maybe Jesus+Anichebe+Alli to Sturridge+Llorente+Coutinho

Yeah maybe. I need an Alli brace tonight to really go for it. If i'm 30 points behind ill just go for OR rank.

    All set guys?

    Willy (Pickford)
Stephens - Bavies - Monreal (Yosh - Kone)
Sanchez - Coutinho - Eriksen - De Bruyne (Fraser)
    Kane - Giroud - Jesus

Gotta feeling the Stephens/Yoshida might come back to bite me tbh.

I’m currently in top 8k & ML rival is 22 points behind me

Me: Caballero, Alonso, Holgate, Sane, Hazard
Him: Cech, Davies, Cedric, De Bruyne, Pedro

Both have: Pickford, Monreal, Yoshida, Stephens, King, Sanchez, Alli, Kane, Jesus, Anichebe

    1 FT 0.2 ITB

    (a) Hazard -> Coutinho ( He can’t go Pedro -> Coutinho without hits)
    (b) Hazard + Holgate -> Coutinho & Vertonghen -4 (also match his spurs defense with Vert)
    (c) anything else

Why would you get rid of Hazard if you already own him? FFS Fear Factor?

          Playing Sunderland though.

Pickford is probably the only thing between Chelsea and a cricket score. Chelsea subs could probably fetch double figure points hauls this weekend.

Rotation factor. He was one of the only ones not rested last time so it could be on the cards.

Just A, no point in taking a hit for a defender who'd need a clean sheet just to make it back.

    Forster (DDG)

    Alonso Azpi Yoshi kompany (Clichy)

    Alexis Haz Eriksen King (Carrick)

    Kany Jesus (ThemthrfknGabbi)

    1 FT 0,3 ITB

Thinking Clichy -> Matip benching King?

Suggestions please, want to reach top 100

Naive. £100k a week is nothing if he improves their chances of progress, could become a coach there after.

After a decent DGW i'm struggling to work out my FT so you guys can obviously do it for me.

    1FT; £0.5m ITB, AOA active.

    Willy;
    Stephens(?), Davies;
Sánchez, de Bruyne, Alli, Ozil, King.
    Kane, Jesus, Llorente.

    Pickford; Gibbs, Smith, Holgate.

Nice team attack looks set for the final week is koscielny fit?

If he isn't I'd start gibbs and use free transfer for mignolet
If he is then Stephens to yoshida
