For the last time this season, we roll out our pre-Gameweek members’ article focusing on the captaincy dilemma for Sunday’s final round of fixtures.

To get us underway, we check in with the main contenders in this week’s Captain Poll, then delve into the Opta numbers and current Rate My Team rankings before offering up a differential or two to help solve the vital armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

Alexis Sanchez leads the way in our final Captain Poll of 2016/17 as Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates.

The Chilean has delivered double-figure hauls in each of his last three appearances to earn 30% of the votes cast as the Gunners look for the win that will keep their slim hopes of a top-four finish alive.

Up against a Toffees’ defence with a single clean sheet in five on the road, Olivier Giroud collects 1% backing thanks to three goals and an assist in his last trio of appearances.

Faith in Harry Kane’s armband potential is rapidly on the rise in light of his four goals and assist at Leicester City on Thursday night.

Now two goals clear of Romelu Lukaku in the race for the Golden Boot, the striker is backed by 24% as Spurs make their way to relegated Hull City – Kane has seven goals and three assists in his last six appearances.

A home encounter with relegated Middlesbrough helps Philippe Coutinho claim third place.

Backed by over 17% voters, the Brazilian warmed up for this one with a season-high 19-point haul away to West Ham on Sunday and has six goals and two assists in his last eight appearances.

Up against defence that’s conceded at least three times in each of their last three road trips under Steve Agnew, the Reds will be confident of clinching the win that would secure their Champions League spot for next season.

This could also see Daniel Sturridge (2%) emerge as a final day differential at Anfield after he returned to Jurgen Klopp’s teamsheet with a goal against the Hammers.

Somewhat surprisingly, Gabriel Jesus has persuaded a mere 6% to take the armband plunge for Manchester City’s trip to Watford.

Despite being shifted onto the right flank to accommodate the fit-again Sergio Aguero at home to West Brom, an 11-point haul against the Baggies on Tuesday was the Brazilian’s third double-digit in just seven starts.

With the Hornets options in defence limited, Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne could prove canny differentials.

While Aguero has been the most consistent of the pair, with a goal or assist in nine of his last 11 outings, he’s mustered just one 10+ points haul since Gameweek 13.

De Bruyne, meanwhile, has been far more explosive, producing 12, 17 and 13-point tallies in his previous six league outings.

Faith in Chelsea’s big hitters, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, has diminished in light of Antonio Conte’s teamsheet to face Watford last Monday.

While there’s no question that the champions could run riot at home to Sunderland – Hazard has more home goals (11) than any midfielder and Costa has 22 points in his last two at the Bridge – only 2% and 3% respectively have opted for the pair with the FA Cup final looming.

Indeed, in spite of that plum fixture, they are the most sold midfielder and forward respectively ahead of Sunday’s deadline.

As evidenced by Spurs 6-1 battering on Thursday evening, a trip to Leicester City’s patched-up defence could be good news for Josh King.

Favoured by less than 1% of voters, the Bournemouth attacker has racked up 12 goals and two assists in his last 14 league appearances to sit seventh in the FPL midfield standings.

Meanwhile, the Foxes’ Jamie Vardy (1%) has seven goals and five assists in 12 Gameweeks under Craig Shakespeare.

Ok, done Hazard to Coutinho but would you take a hit from this lot to avoid playing Gabbiadini or just play another defender instead?

    Cech
    Davies Yoshida Cahill
    Sané Sánchez Coutinho Alli
    Gabbiadini Jesus Kane

    Bench:
    Caballero Stephens Holding de Roon

    Thanks

Back four of Cech, Holding Yoshi Stephens

Front eight of Sanchez Eriksen King Alli, Jesus and...?

    A Hazard and Benteke
    B Hazard and Kaku
    C Coutinho and Kane (-4)

2nd by 2pts in ML with third place 50pts behind. Eriksen, Sanchez and Kaku my major differentials but they both have Kane.

    Two questions:

    1. Start Monreal or Stephens

    2. Buy Origi or Llorrente

    Thanks.

      1. Monreal
      2. Vokes. Probably Llorente if you keen on those options. Safer minute than Origi.

Have a 38 point lead in ML

    a) Have some fun, live a little and do Haz > KDB, then dance naked in the moonlight
    b) Play safe & boring but secure the win with Haz > Eriksen (the only real differential between me & rival), before an early night and a cup of warm milk

    asking again ,

    Caba
Lovren Alonso Monreal ( Bailly Holgate)
    Cout Pedro Sane Sanchez King
    Kane Jesus ( Gabby )

Feel like taking a risk and captain King, chasing 25 points
    Opponent captaining Kane

Just seen my rival still has AOA and I'm 9 pts behind. He doesn't have Kane ,King,Jesus or Sane. We both have Sanchez. My guess is he will take a hit to get Kane and another midfielder to use his AOA.

So I should not take a hit??

Just Hazard to coutinho?? Chances are that's that will be his move for his hit to boost AOA ?? ..

I would take hits with differential if I were chasing. Since you're not, best I think is to play safe and not to have unnecessary hit.

Alright guys, in need of some special advice from you! Atm placed to win about 600 quid. 18 points up to first place which will win 1200 quid, 23 points down to third who wins 350 quid. I'm mostly trying to secure top two with my team:
    Cech
    Alonso - Yoshida - Clichy
    Alexis - Alli - Hazard - King - Sané
    Benteke - Kane
    Bench: Pickford, Gabbiadini, Stephens, Gibson.

    My rival's team:
    Caballero
    Azpi - Yoshida - Davies
    Alexis - Pedro - Eriksen - Sané - King
    Jesus - Kane
    Bench: Pickford, Gabbiadini, Stephens, Gibbs.

So, what to do? Thinking a hit to get in both Jesus and Coutinho for Benteke and Hazard. In that way I "block" my rival, as well as getting Coutinho which might take me into first. But I'm clueless on what's the right move..

    Please help guys!

I am sure many others are in this situation with bitter rivals in ML's...I am 45 points up on my ML rival who has TC still to play this GW. I am worried he will take me in the final GW after many weeks/months above him...

We both have Sanchez, Alli, Jesus. I have Kane, Hazard as the big main attacking differences, neither of which I think he will bring in. No changes have been made yet by him but I presume he'll make at least one change and probably wont be to bring in Kane as he needs a differential to catch me, I imagine he will play it safe and captain Sanchez thinking I will go Kane.

I just need to guess his triple captain and I will be fine I am sure...otherwise it is going to the wire. Sanchez or Kane captain? - P.S I may drop Haz or Alli for another big mid as my change and will likely just use my 1FT so no hit to bring him 4 closer before the GW starts!

    Sanchez King Tadic Alli (Capoue)
    Gabbiadini Kane Gabriel

Tadic -> Siggy or Gabbiadini -> Vokes?

What you guys think? Can't afford a 4 point hit

if i've learned anything from this season it's that Coutinho blanks when you expect him to deliver and Hazard delivers when you expect he won't.

we'll see if i've actually learned anything by keeping Hazard.

Currently 2nd in my league with 56 points differential against the leader. Help me replace up to 5 players to catch up to leader:

    I am currently sitting on:

    Heaton (4.8)
    Azpiliqueta (6.2) Stephen (4.2) Kompany (6.0)
    Son (7.2) Erikson (8.9) Albrighton (4.9) Hazard (10.2)
    Gabbiadini (6.4) Jesus (8.9) Kane* (11.6)

    Pickford (4.2) Capoue (4.5) Kone (4.2) McAuley (5.0)

The Leader is sitting on the following and I do not expect him to change his team:

    Caballero
    Holding Stephens Tuanzebe
    Sanchez* Sterling Son Hazard
    Costa Jesus Lukaku

I am thinking of replacing Hazard, Gabbiadini, and Albrighton to Coutinho, King, and Llorente, but I would appreciate your creativity.. Lallana? Giroud? Sturridge? Naughton? Thanks and good luck!

I have a 9 point lead in my ML. Person below me has very similar team with his players in (brackets).

    Caballero
    Pickford (Hennessey)
    Davies (Smith)
    Yoshida (Sephens)
    Maguire (Huth)
    Monreal (Holding)
    Azpil
    Sane (Fletcher)
    Sanchez
    King (Albrighton)
    Eriksen
    Hazard
    Kane
    Anichebe (Jesus)
    Gabbi

Concerned he may pip me on last day with the help of Jesus. I only have 1FT and 0.1 in bank. He has 1.3 in bank. What to do?

    A. Hazard -> Coutinho
    B. Hazard -> De Bruyne
    C. Hazard + Gabbi -> Coutinho + Giroud (-4pt)
    D. Hazard + Gabbi -> Coutinho + other (-4pt)
