Time for our weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we cast our minds back to the previous Gameweek, before preparing you for the incoming fixtures.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and our current Watchlist, before moving on to our Fantasy Football Scout team and future plans.

Gameweek 7 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Huddersfield vs SpursHarry Kane
Bournemouth vs LeicesterMarc Pugh
Stoke vs SouthamptonKurt Zouma
Man United vs Crystal PalaceMarouane Fellaini
West Brom vs WatfordRicharlison
West Ham vs SwanseaAlfie Mawson
Chelsea vs Manchester CityKevin De Bruyne
Arsenal vs BrightonAlexis Sanchez
Everton vs BurnleyJames Tarkowski
Newcastle vs LiverpoolMatt Ritchie

A mixture of big hitters and budget enablers make up the gang this week, with Harry Kane (46.7%) and Kevin De Bruyne (17.5%) the most heavily owned.

Meanwhile, Richarlison stormed into the top three midfielders for points.

He costs just 7.6 – slightly more pricey than budget enablers of the past – but is building a compelling case for inclusion, with Watford’s fixtures also picking up from Gameweek 12 to further his cause.

James Tarkowski, at 6.1, is another name for consideration. The imposing centre-back now has two MoTM awards and has been key to Burnley’s three shut-outs so far.

Gameweek 8 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 11 points or more in bonus for the season:

members

Man City’s Nicolas Otamendi is probably the most appealing option here. He comes in at 8.6 and is a regular tier two passing earner.

In fact, his bonus is the equivalent of three extra clean sheets already. So considering he has five shut-outs to add to that, you could look at it as eight clean sheets in seven matches, or eight goals in seven for a forward.

That’s impressive scoring whichever way you look at it.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

Only Romelu Lukaku looks set to make the weekend’s action as injuries claim some popular players. Alvaro Morata, in particular, stands out as roughly one in ten managers removed him over the international break.

Harry Kane’s frightening form means a further 11.6% have jumped on board, while Sergio Aguero’s recent injury prompted many to turn to Gabriel Jesus and De Bruyne ahead of Man City’s favourable schedule. Elsewhere, Richarlison and Romelu Lukaku make up the top five.

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Notes

A jump in rank by a whole two places suggests my week was…average.

To be honest, it was probably less than average when you consider I had a transfer frenzy, subbing in Kiko Femenia, Eden Hazard and Andre Carrillo for Kyle Naughton, Nemanja Matic and Anthony Knockaert.

I simply couldn’t bear another Gameweek with Knockaert in my line-up, while Matic was failing to deliver bonus points at the rate I expected.

I’m now fairly happy with my set-up, with Alexandre Lacazette basically a placeholder for captain rotation. In fact, he’s coming out for Jamie Vardy on Monday. The main concern is undoubtedly my lack of Man City options ahead of their forthcoming fixtures.

I’ll likely wait until Sergio Aguero is fully fit and then address that issue further down the line.

Captain Plan

Sat 14th – Kane (BOU)
Sun 15th – Forster (NEW)
Mon 16th – Vardy (WBA)

I was in a not dissimilar position but i also had Hemed banned. In the end i opted for the free hit. It allowed my to roll over to two transfers without taking a -4 to to -8 to get out a decent team. Also allowed me to select triple Spurs, Chelsea and City for their plum fixtures

Quite suprised that so many are keen keeping Eriksen even on a wildcard.

Two reasons I fear having him

    A) Tough fixtures

    B) Could get subbed early vs. Bournemouth

    C) Might not even start against Palace with that crazy fixture run (including two matches against Real Madrid) right before.

Is there reason to this thinking?

United away is the only fixture I'm worried about really, and his appearance record is pretty amazing in the Prem, so not too worried about him not starting. I'm still not ruling taking him out next week, but depends on other options.

i can't resist VVD on my wildcard. he's fully fit, had 3 shots in the box last game, and his next 4 fixtures are plum. there are some clean sheets there, and he has goals in him,

Points are more important, and the structure of your team will only be able to be solved through hits if it's not structured correctly

and you also won't be able to transfer out defenders easily as your transfers will be focused on having surgery within your frontline and midfield

Not sure which combination is best here.

    1. Clark, Chupo, Lukaku leaves me with the below

    Fabianski (Elliot)
    Davies, Ward, Simpson, Duffy (Clark)
    Hazard, Salah, Silva (Chupo, Carroll)
    Kane, Lukaku, Joselu

    2. Cedric, Richarlison, Jesus leaves me with the team below

    Fabianski
    Davies, Cedric, Ward (Simpson, Duffy)
    Hazard, Salah, Silva, Richarlison (Carroll)
    Kane, Jesus, Joselu

or should I scrap Joselu and go vardy? Would mean I sacrifice hazard out to sterling and richarlison/chupo to 4.5

Yeah, low risk, and jump on Aguero after Utd's Huddersfield game.

Georginio Wijnaldum hasn't made a single tackle in over 8 hours of Premier League football this season.

    Truly shocking player.

    Pereira Clark Carroll RLC

Got 0.7mil itb. is there anything I should use it on? Don't want to really do Azpi to Alonso. On a WC

      don't like the goalie situation.

Ryan is a nervous keeper, from what i've seen, and you have him all alone.

i'd try Fabianski, if you want a set & forget, or Fabianski/Elliot, which will cost you .2

weird thing. on the FPL site it reads "Gameweek transfers: 4", which is right as I did a few at the beginning of the international break, in anticipation of playing my WC later (it's still available).

...however, transfer screen says "Cost 0pts", and if I prepare 1 transfer it says "Cost 4pts".

am I master hacker, or is my -12pts cost hidden once I've confirmed transfers? I'm fairly sure that's not how it used to work.
