Our cup competitions are edging closer to their conclusion with just eight teams now remaining in both contests.

The seventh round of the Fantasy Football Scout cup in the main went by form, with those with a higher rank prevailing.

This included victory for the contest’s highest placed manager, Elvarus, who is 159th in the overall rankings and saw off 1,679 placed Scoutcaster Az. This high flying victor has another tough match in the quarter finals when he takes on the next highest placed remaining manager, David Slade (rank 1,455).

Former FPL winner Tom Fenley’s 13,516 ranked team edged past Double Blue, who is 47,144 places behind him, to set up a last eight battle with Brakeff (rank 25,911), who was one of only two round seven giant killers after comfortably easing past 2,481 placed Roonatic 85-50.

SaxilbyGaribaldi is the other lower ranked manager to beat the odds in round seven, when his 21,579 placed side took out 3,004 ranked Catdeeleyisgorgeous. He will have to rip up the form book once again when he takes on TH14, who is 14,124 places above him.

The last quarter final looks to be a closer affair, with just 5,874 places separating ezdmanx (rank 2,125) and POLSTER (rank 7,999).

The results from the Fantasy Football Scout seventh round can be found here, while the quarter final draw is here.

The Members Cup quarter finals also sees the two highest ranked managers square up to each other, when 770 placed The Albatross faces 1,034 ranked Root.

Two other remaining managers are placed in the top 5,000 with Albertini (ranked 1,485) surely the favourite against 73,50 ranked rrcmc, while 3,651 placed graslauk encounters rama96ab (rank 67,811).

The other tie sees Gloria Kanchelskis (rank 27,122) go head to head with community veteran Fitzy. (32,539).

You can view the full results from the sixth round of Members Cup here, while the quarter final draw is here.

Any updated information in regards to the Mahrez situation?

I see contradicting reports, some saying that he will leave Leicester during the January window and others saying he won't. Help please...

    A simple question here:

    a) Alonso + Aguero -8pts
    b) Hazard + Firmino without any hits taken

Already got Firmino -> 0 FTs for me.

To buy Alonso, I have to ditch Hazard. It means -8pts.

Basically looking to do Fabianski > Pickford but unsure on the other move (2FTs and 0.1itb)

    A. Richarlison >> Albrighton/Ox
    B. Kiko >> Mbemba
    C. Depoitre >> Ayew/Crouch

    Fabianski
    Masuaku • Otamendi • Christensen
    Son • Salah • Richarl • Sterling • Arnie
    Kane • Aguero

    (Elliot / Depoitre / Duffy / Kiko*)

    On WC currently
    Am I missing someone essential?.

    DDG Elliot
    Otamendi Alonso Maguire Kelly Goldson
    Salah Sterling Lingard Arnie Tarroll
    Kane Aguero Wilson

    1. Mishon
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 2 months ago

Kelly / Goldson = non starters.

      Carroll = poor.

Wilson = too risky, I would just go for a cheapie like Quaner and player 3/5/2 or 4/4/2

I know it's tough, but I would downgrade Alonso and upgrade your defenders/Carroll.

    That team worth -8?

    DDG, Elliot
    Alonso, Otamendi, Ogbonna, Holgate, Mariappa
    Salah, Sterling, Lingard, Arnie, Mahrez
    Kane, Wilson, Firmino

Fabianski, RLC, Morata > DDG, Mahrez, Wilson

Lingard and Wilson could be rotated, as well as Ogbonna and Holgate.

The point is his team's good without the hits, so my opinion's to him is to be more patient.

        1. Ibracadabra
          • 16 Years

I don't think Lingard or Wilson will be rotated on current form. I also don't think Ogbonna will either - he has started almost every single game. Holgate not secure, but 3/4 of those you mention are secure IMO.

Know WHU fixtures are good. Don't know EVE's fixtures.

Wilson and Lingard could be rotated imo.

Lingard has started 9/10 league games.
Wilson has started 6/7 league games.

It's fine to have that opinion - maybe you have watched them and think they are tired or something, but neither are underperforming so the odds just don't look like they will be rotated.

As for Ogbonna he has starated 14/14 gameweeks and played 90 minutes in all 14. To even mention him as a rotation candidate is a bit silly... of course anything is possible but the data just isn't there.

Lingard may be an issue here, true so Wilson may play if I loos faith in Lingard but like you said I'll probably need to save FT

You can downgrade Morata to Vardy for free and play 3-4-3.

I'm giving Hazard maybe a last chance too.

Fine, save the FT is also a good option. The moves are good but don't need of taking hits, that's it.

you're probably right but when I see Swa next few games I want to get DDG as the get CS a lot! Problem is that I'm not 100% sure about loosing Morata for a hit and to get Mahrez

              This season, I've learned this:

              - If you're not sure of making a concrete transfer, then hold...

DSilva to Coutinho where DSilva exploded and Coutinho blanked 2 games in a row. 🙂

That would mean -4pts. Already wrote my opinion.

I'm not happy that I have to play Hazard one more GW, but I'm trying to not overthink it.

Thoughts on Lingard and Aguero to Mahrez and Firmino -4?

Particularly with the blank GW28 in mind. Can't lose Otamendi, Sterling or Alonso and Mahrez while being more expensive than him should be an upgrade on lingard. Done my research and Burnley v United is expected to be a tight affair, with Leicester v Watford expected to have goals in it. While Firmino on current form is equal to Kun. Mahrez rises and things will be tight funds-wise.

    1. Ibracadabra
      • 16 Years
      8 years, 2 months ago

Not for me for -4. I would not sell Aguero if I owned him this week, could easily score 1-2.

      1. We Will Klopp you
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 2 months ago

But don't you think Firmino is equally capable of doing well v Swansea this gw? Kun hasn't been in explosive form as of late either

        1. Ibracadabra
          • 16 Years
          8 years, 2 months ago

No I don't. Swansea will sit back deep and LIV don't have the team to unlock sides who do that - see their issues last year in breaking down lower table opposition. Maybe Lallana will start and help provide creativity.

Either way, yes, Firmino can surely score against anyone but Aguero at home with the next two fixtures is amazing.

So worry about Gw28 when it comes then? I guess a lot may change by then with transfers etc. I feel we'll beat the Swans comfortably, Should have enough in our locker to do so with or without him but admittedly v a defensive side it's uncharted waters without Couts

Fair enough, but my whole season has been based on stupid decisions and I couldn't care less what anyone here thinks of the way I play. 😉

Play your game bro. Don't worry what others think.

Fwiw I wouldn't make those moves this gw and I'd be capping Aguero if I owned him which I don't.

Good you are open to discussion, ultimately it's a huge huge gamble with not that much upside for -4 in my opinion. If it was for free, I could *MAYBE* see an argument developing. Go with your instinct, if Firmino and Mahrez return 10 points each (20) and Aguero only manages 6 and Lingard 2; then you have "won" the transfer 16-8. But it's a big risk.

He looked average at Anfield and still was inches away from a sliding tap in in the first half, came up with an assist, and can always convert a penalty if Sterling/Sane are brought down in the box.

Kun doesn't look like the player he used to be. He certainly isn't worth the extra price over Firms. City get most of their goals from other players. Firms is on fire and has become even more important now Couts is gone and Marhez is worth the extra over Lingard, has good fixtures and is playing for a move. No brainer for me.

sometimes moves like this work, sometimes they go wrong - up to you. I personally don't even think about moves like this anymore because it's too frustating when it doesn't come off (now you will be annoyed if you don't do it and it would have worked). The two players you already have are perfectly fine, wouldn't even think about it.

I brought in Firmino in preference to Kun ... both got a chance of good points but ££ was also a consideration

TOT & LIV, both scored 5-0 in this week's reverse (home) fixture whereas MCI scored 1-0 in their reverse (away) leg

And also fwiw, I'm not against hits either. I take them for fun. 🙂

My opinion is based on not seeing the logic of losing Aguero this gw.

However, if you believe the move is right for you then don't be concerned about a -4 hit. Too many here are scared of hits.

      I love them! 😉
