In the run-up to the start of the Eliteserien season, I sent a few questions to promoted side Bodø/Glimt’s front man, Kristian Fardal Opseth. Here’s what he had to say ahead of his side’s first top flight game this weekend.

Which players are you most looking forward to facing this season?
I look forward to meeting Bismar Acosta from Brann. It will be a tough match between us, that’s fun.

Who do you think will challenge Rosenborg for the title?
Nobody. They are well settled.

How far up the table do you think Glimt can finish?
Our ambitions are to end on the upper half of the table. That’s our goal.

Do you feel you have unfinished business in Eliteserien after your time with Sogndal?
Yes, I do. I want to show myself. I have more confidence from Bodø/Glimt, and are allowed to show what I am made off.

Do you play Fantasy Football?
I always start with a team, but then I quit. I am such a bad loser.

Which Glimt players should fantasy managers keep an eye on?
Ulrik Saltnes and Amor Layouni can be a surprise. Also Martin Bjørnbak.

What have you been up to during the off-season? Holiday?
I went to Thailand and to Hamburg. In Hamburg I watched the World Championship in handball. Then I spent Christmas and New Years with my family.

Where’s the place to be on a Friday night in Bodo?
At home on the couch. (He said laughing). I actually don’t know. Maybe Hundholmen? I rarely go out.

    Thanks so much for submitting

Always great to hear from players about Fantasy choices.

Ulrik Saltnes, Amor Layouni and Martin Bjornbak ones to watch it seems.

As they are newly promoted will wait for a few weeks before investing on any potential bargains

Looking forward to tomorrow - how are the pitches? Is it still just the 2 games off in GWK 2 at the moment?

Cheers, the media rep at Glimt was brilliant. Who knows, I might try and see if I can get more as the season goes on, must be a novelty for them that their league's game has a following over here!

struggeling with my last forward spot...
I´m going "Lordless" and my plan was Stokke/Finnbogason/Skålevik
but after reading VG Lupen today I´m thinking of bringing in Chima (Molde) instead of Skålevik (unsure starter GW1)
what do you guys think ?

if he nails the nr1 forward spot I belive he will get goals with their nice starting fixtures

Ulland Andersen is the big question going into GW1, here. Is it safer to just go for Jradi and not worrying if Ulland Andersen starts or not?

Don't get me thinking about a double up, haha! Would mean a team without Helland, and he's been good in pre-season.

Oh, Ulland Andersen looks to be all clear in the game, at least. No orange/yellow warning next to the name, now.

        Current plan:
        0 ITB

        Kongshavn | Opdal
Parr Teniste Kitolano | Haakenstaad Tonne
        Helland Haugen EUA Koomson Hussain
        Lehne Olsen Stokke | Kone

Save in the first week, and then bring in Ohi for Stokke and some other DGW attacker (probably a mid). Next week pick a good DGW prospect, maybe taking a hit at some point in this process if necessary although I doubt it, and then wildcard going into GW 5. Thoughts?

I had a "set and forget"-team last season, and I'm not completely sure whether or not I'll do that this season or pay more attention to it. That said, I have this team so far, any alarming mistakes I've made already?

        Hansen/Maric
        Haugen Nilsen Wormgoor Stølås Tønne
        Sæter Adegbenro Komsoon Gamsten Vetlesen
        Bendtner Ohi Kastrati

Not a dreadful team but you might be a bit short on players for GW2 (Tønne, Saeter, Vetlesen, Ohi and Kastrati have all had their games postponed).

Personally I would spend slightly less in defence too.

Think my team's all set other than two positions, advice appreciated:

        1. Rosenborg defender
Initially wanted Rasmussen but have been put off a bit by CB rumours. Currently on Hedenstad. I know Hansen is probably the best value but I'm sticking with Linde in goal.

        2. Third striker (to partner Lehne Olsen and Skålevik)
Fardal Opseth, Amang or Floki Finnbogason? Fardal Opseth the safe option and would ensure I have a player on the bench in GW2. Amang could be lucrative but could be benched and that might be a bit much with Skålevik already in my team. Floki could be a good candidate for the DGW and I'd be happy to play him in GW1 and 3 as well.

Great scoop with the interview btw!

        1. MTPockets
            7 years, 9 months ago

Hedenstad (although personally none then Hansen for Linde in a few weeks).
Ospeth seems a decent punt. Going for Finnbogason myself for reason you state + price.

            1. Logic sounds reasonable and that's currently what I'm on as well. Linde has better fixtures and the GW4 game can be covered by a DGW GK. You can always switch to Hansen if wildcarding afterwards.

            2. Opseth for me. I think he's a solid option for the first three games and there's always the option of transferring him to a DGW player for GW4 if he doesn't perform.

Alright, been working with more combinations, but I'm still on these for GW1:
          Hansen
          Tønne - Kitolano - Nilsen
Ulland Andersen - Saltnes - Helland - Åsen
          Skålevik - Bendtner - Stokke

          Bench: Barli, Wormgoor, Vetlesen, Granli

          1. Am I crazy benching Wormgoor for Tønne? Somehow thinking Ranheim might have the energy of being promoted, and will score at home.

          2. Are there any must haves I'm missing out on? Currently on four DGW players, and benching those for GW2.

          Thoughts?

It's not a bad team at all....

            1) You are not crazy for doing it, but it seems strange to invest in Wormgoor at all, just to bench him in one of the stronger on-paper matchups

            2) Being without ANY Strømsgodset players is high-risk. You are kind of locked in by having both Bendtner and Helland, but someone like Nguen at 7.0 could get you in on that team. A tiny uncertainty as he left training with a feel in his thigh this week, but I recon he should play.

This is why I'm wondering if I'm taking too much of a chance. Have this feeling Ranheim will do a Kristiansund, and surprise everybody. Will probably make my mind up very late on this one, though.

Have Ulland Andersen, yes. Wondering if that's enough Strømsgodset cover, though…

I want to have a dgw gk on bench as i have 0,5 itb. Sandefjord seem to have best matches but do we know who stands? If not its between Oppdal and Mande. Any thoughts?

I'm going for Sayouba Mande, since I'm unsure on the Sandefjord GK situation. I'm not confident in any of the DGW GK options if I'm honest though.

Sandefjord main goalkeeper has been out injured and it's not certain when he will be back. With GW4 a month off it's just too uncertain.

Mande looks to have the "best" set of fixtures, but as Flaming says it's not really something to bank on. Still recomend one though, since Molde and Rosenborg play vs. eachother you lose little punting one in that GW.

Sandefjord - Ranheim will be the onlye double in gameweek 4!

What do you think about this team ?

          Linde ( Maric )

          Wormgoor - Kitolano - Glesnes ( Tønne, Nilsen )

          EUA - Hestad - Sigurdarsson - Ejuke - Rashani

Says on stabekks website that it will be played25/26 of April. If that is in gw 6 it means start is away to Rosenborg and stb is away to brann. Makes it less appealing. Remains to be seen though. The Stabekk post is dated yesterday.

So how to approach gw 1 now? If I assume information on Stabekk homepage is correct I think I simply focus on fielding best team possible for gw1 and 2. Might pick 5th midfielder or defender with a double gw 4. Then I have six weeks to get in ohi for his double gw if I want. Undecided if I get a dgw 4 gk on bench. Depends if I need to sacrifice in starting 11. Sandefjord gk situation is unclear and o have limited faith in ranheim. Is this making sense?

                    7 years, 9 months ago

Just means I'm still ok keeping couple of cheap San/Ran defenders + maybe gk.

Start having a blank but no double for a while has messed up my initial squad though - they offered some good value picks.

                  Nice article Taca.
Current draft will leave me 9 or 10 to play in GW2 so one transfer will be OK subject to getting a full starting squad in GW1 and no injuries.

                  Linde (McD)
                  Gregersen, Hedensted, Haakenstad, Rismark (Teniste)
MGP, Adegbenro, Ulland Andersen, Brochmann ( Kassi)
                  Ohi, Mortensen ( Kastrati)

GW6 is the only time the Stabæk - Start game can logically be postponed. GW2 is followed by the international break. GW5 and GW8 are followed by cup rounds. GW3 and GW11 are only 6 days away from the next GW. GW9 and GW10 are close due to 16th of May. Stabæk play on Monday in in GW7 and GW12.

With Brann and Rosenborg being their other opponents that just ain't tempting at all.....

                  Linde (Barli)
Hedenstad - Wormgoor - Kitolano (Tonne - Olsen Solberg)
Ulland Andersen - Jradi - Koomson - Asen (Saeter)
Mortensen - Lehne Olsen - Opseth

Planning to use my "park the bus" chip in GW4 and then wildcard afterwards, hence the lack of Rosenborg. Will probably make some more changes before the deadline, but more or less good to go?

Interesting chip use. Good shout I think.

Looks fairly good. No Bendtner obviously a big move but the rest looks strong because of it. Good luck 🙂

I know next to nothing about Sandefjord and ranheim. In my latest pick i have barli, grorud and morer in preparation for gw 4. Basically gw2 that is the critical one. Crosding fingers. Can take 1 injury, not more and still field 11. If i have to play a Sandefjord player week 3 its no drama. They have ok fixtures actually even if tipped down. Would prefer tønne over grorud based on what i read here but i simply cant find the funds.

Monitor Grorud, Reppesgård Hansen COULD take his place when he returns from injury (probably before GW4).

So I *think* I'm almost set on this. Any major flaws/errors?

                    Linde
Eggen Hedenstad - Nilsen - Kitolano
                    Ulland Andersen - Asen - A. Konradsen - Koomsen
Bendtner - Lehne Olsen - Stoke

Bench: Maric - Tonne - Vetlesen - Grorud

                    Thanks!

Solid team, very similar to mine. I'm going with Gjertsen over Konradsen for Kristiansund cover and Opseth over Stokke. Grorud might not survive till gw4 so I'm going with Demba Bindia. You might want to consider Barli for gw4 if you plan an early wildcard around gw7.

Cheers. Fairly happy with it but might look at Konradsen again. Happy enough with Linde though, worst case it's save points in gw4 I guess...
