In the run-up to the start of the Eliteserien season, I sent a few questions to promoted side Bodø/Glimt’s front man, Kristian Fardal Opseth. Here’s what he had to say ahead of his side’s first top flight game this weekend.

Which players are you most looking forward to facing this season?
I look forward to meeting Bismar Acosta from Brann. It will be a tough match between us, that’s fun.

Who do you think will challenge Rosenborg for the title?
Nobody. They are well settled.

How far up the table do you think Glimt can finish?
Our ambitions are to end on the upper half of the table. That’s our goal.

Do you feel you have unfinished business in Eliteserien after your time with Sogndal?
Yes, I do. I want to show myself. I have more confidence from Bodø/Glimt, and are allowed to show what I am made off.

Do you play Fantasy Football?
I always start with a team, but then I quit. I am such a bad loser.

Which Glimt players should fantasy managers keep an eye on?
Ulrik Saltnes and Amor Layouni can be a surprise. Also Martin Bjørnbak.

What have you been up to during the off-season? Holiday?
I went to Thailand and to Hamburg. In Hamburg I watched the World Championship in handball. Then I spent Christmas and New Years with my family.

Where’s the place to be on a Friday night in Bodo?
At home on the couch. (He said laughing). I actually don’t know. Maybe Hundholmen? I rarely go out.

Some goals/assists missing.

Stølås, Ohi and Boli should get an assist. Sæter and Brochmann should have their assist removed. Might be some other mistakes in there as well.

    Looks like everything is getting corrected now, then. Having the big names (other than Bendtner) looks to have worked out this week - for those who went that route. Hopefully Rosenborg can deliver next week.
    
    Will be a lot of players to eep an eye on after this gameweek. Start off to a good start, and Molde looks a sure investment for any teams.

  Yeah, I feel bad for mentioning him as a budget option.
  
  Still prefer Gamst. Akintola could be one to watch as well. Melgalvis decent pick at 5.5 too. Sæter at 5.0 and Heintz at 6.0 are brilliant pick if they can nail down their place in the starting XI. Still believe Sigurdarson will come good, although Kabran outshined him today. Lots of option in the 5.5-6.5 range.

It seems like WhoScored won't have in depth stats for Eliteserien this season, unless they are adding it later. Stuff like shots inside the box is pretty useful to guide decisions, is there another site with similar stats for the league?

  Scroll down to Player Statistics. There are summaries, or select 'detailed' then pick whatever stat you want eg. Attack - Shots on target - Apply. Then filter high to low.
  
  It's for the whole league though, unlike whoscored where you could assess per team.

Is Adam Smith likely to remain in first 11 against West Brom? I was going to get Ake but seeing that Smith played in midfield in the last 2 matches, I think he could be a better option. Haven't seen anyone (even the FH'ers) planning to bring him in though. Is that because he is not nailed?

      The postponed match made thing very difficult. I might come well out of the situation - at least with choosing Opseth as one of the striker options.
      
      Looking at the rest of the team, there were no clean sheets, but two assists from midfielders. Tripple Rosenborg didn't help in this round. Might go for some Molde cover in midfield for next gameweek, and then think about downgrading Adegbenro should he not get points against KBK. Strømsgodset seems a goof choice, as does Molde. Start might be a go to option, as well.

    a few are pushing up towards closer to the 1000 mark, Aursnes must have doubled his original ownership already and at 3,3% ownership out of 50k players he must be getting close to a rise, but no crazy stuff like last season 🙂

Godset-Stabaek highlights were great. Also fun how they cleared all the snow off the pitch in BG-LSK.

Start and Molde overwhelmed their opponents, they although we'll see if it's just Tromsø and Sandefjord starting slowly.

Don't want to go over the top but Hestad is the Norwegian David Silva. Assist master, shaved his head, plays in blue, gets rotated.

  To be fair, there were quite a few who punted one of the chips GW1, and a lot of the spissrush ones payed off well.... it's a paradox but Bendtner is the only one to really fall short so far, I'm hoping for Stokke to join the rest this afternoon....

  Incredible. It should be stupid using chips so early, but it looks like people have maxed out by using it. What are the chances of doing the same later on in the season, with injuries and players possibly a bit out of form?
  
  Not complaining too much, though. Got some nice points from selected players. Still, it's very easy to see where you could and should have invested. Not having any Molde cover, and any of those 9.0-10.0 strikers really made the difference.

48 points so far with my main team and Stokke still to come.

And 74 with one of my fun teams (only players from clubs outside last years top 6) and Gjertsen still to come. Rank 107 overall. Even in FPL I rarely had so many points 🙂

I've read in an VG article (translated with Google) that Eliteserien is thinking about to start the 2019 season in summer like the Premier League. Is this true or did Google translate it wrong? Or did I understand it wrong? And if it's right what are the teams/players going to do from the end of this season until August 2019? This is the article:

First season playing and I’m really enjoying it so far 🙂 Some great features like live league updates and full match highlights. Just logged in and saw that the Ohi assist is added. Is this something that happens regularly in Eliteserien Fantasy, points added the day after?

  Opta are not as on-the-ball for Eliteserien as in FPL, so you'll see often enough the game admins need to make corrections after the fact yeah, not a major hurdle though, more than enough people keeping them honest and pointing stuff out, and they got into the groove a bit as the season progressed...

      According to the rules points will stand after autosubs. Last year they held back autosubs so they could correct the errors the next day, they haven't done so today. Assuming it will stand.

  Apperently they are aware of the situation and working to solve it, according to VGdebatt and the Eliteserien twitter account.. But it is possible that Stokke won't loose points for penalty miss, as they say the penalty was actually never taken and a preceding situation with Mahrez in FPL from last season has been mentioned..

    Cheers, mate! Main scorers were Opseth (whom I considered captaining, but bailed), Saltnes, Kabran, Linde, Gamst and Amang. Remmer got a CS as well, so that's nice.
    
    The Stokke situation hurts, I was on him until just before the deadline, my sympathies to you!

      Have Opseth, too! Was too unsure to go with him as a captain pick (or even a vc), and ended up with Bendtner. Looking at the away fixture in GW1, I should possibly have reconsidered.
      
      On to GW2, I might get some Molde cover, I think. Possibly a -4 to take out Stokke, if injured. Not the best fixtures, either.
