After three highly competitive rounds there are now just 64 managers left in our open-to-all Fantasy Premier League Cup competition.

Round three was particularly notable for the giant-killing exploits of 61,873-placed norman conquest. He defeated the round’s highest-ranked manager, thisisdiz, whose score of 57 saw him slip from 48th to 64th in the overall standings.

Next up for Norman Conquest is a more evenly matched encounter with Beetlejuice, who sits in 75,077th spot.

Thisisdiz’s defeat means that Leaf is now the competition’s best placed manager, with an overall position of 55. He saw off djman102 in round three to set himself up with a head-to-head against 134,999-placed ChrisVD.

Always Captain Kun is the only other round three survivor to boast a top 100 rank. He is now preparing his 63rd-placed troops for battle with 64,726-ranked Le Tigre in a bid to reach the last 32.

Round four’s lowest-placed manager, TD7242, who sits in 599,904th spot, will be hoping to emulate Norman Conquest’s exploits for his tie with top 3,000-ranked Batmaniac.

As will 391,603rd-placed jaycar25 for his encounter with 802-ranked AK, who is one of only four top 1,000 managers left in the competition.

The fourth of these high-flyers is 704th-placed horlicks esq.. He takes on 2EyedTurk, who is 32,496 places behind him in the overall standings.

The full second round results can be found here, while the third round draw can be found here.

Who to do in this situation?

Neck and neck eith rival who will go into 34 with kane lukaku and barnes.

I currently have auba vardy and Barnes

    Do I ...

A....just get kane and keep vardy

B...just get lukaku and keep vardy

C....take a hit. ..get kane and lukaku by losing vardy and downgrading son to ibe

    Thanks

This is the first year in probably four or five years that I've used my second wildcard early - I was having a crap season by my own standards and plunged for the WC in February. It's been a disaster tbh and I'm hugely regretting it! I think I underestimated just how key the WC is at this time of year.

I have spent HOURS trying to plot my route from BGW31 to DGW34 and then DGW37 without a WC. There's around 20pts in hits along the way in order to get 9x DGW players in GW34 (plus Salah and Mane) and then around 13x DGW players in GW37 for a bench boost, again plus SGW players Salah and Mane who I want to hold throughout, especially for GW36 and GW38.

Thankfully I kept my FH for GW35 - I think having no WC and no FH would have sent me over the edge.

(TLDR; use your second WC better than me)

      Rough plan
      =========

      Current team:

      Dubravka - Foster
      Alonso - Simpson - Tarkowski - Hegazi - Bauer
      Salah - Mane - Stanislas - Choupo - Doucoure
      Vardy - Firmino - Lukaku

GW33 - Stanislas, Choupo and Firmino to Willian, Son and Barnes (-8 hit)
GW34 - Foster to De Gea (gives me 9 DGWs plus Salah & Mane)
      GW35 - FREE HIT Hallelujah
      GW36 - Lukaku to Kane
GW37 - Barnes, Doucoure, Hegazi and Bauer to Abraham, A King, Mawson and 1 x premium defender i.e. Valencia/Bellerin/Mustafi... (-12 hit) gives me 13 DGW players for bench boost.

      And breathe.

Avoiding players from “on the beach” mid table teams might be less of a risk in a WC year, but I’m wondering what Leicester have as motivation? Is it still possible for them to qualify for Europa League?

Mahrez is playing for the big money move he deserved two years ago and has been trying to finalise ever since?

'On the beach' will mean different things this season. Many players will want to play themselves into World Cup contention (and I am sure their managers would let them, for the most part).

That would be a really interesting article, actually. I'l try to put something together later.

Leicester Management have made it clear their goal now is to finish 7th, which should be enough for European football, providing Southampton don't win the FA Cup.

It's literally all that's spoken about in local media with the upcoming Burnley game being built up heavily.

This has probably already been discussed, but anyone else worried that BB DGW37 is quite risky due to rotation? Are most using 34 or 37?

How does this look for this week and potential plan for DGW34 Bench Boost:

    1FT £0.7itb
    Ryan
    Alonso, Mustafi, Vertonghen
Salah (V), Son, Mahrez, Willian, Gros
    Auba (C), Firmino

    (DDG) (Barnes, Morgan, Lowton)

    For next week, either:
    A) Auba, Firmino, Son, Alonso >>>> Kane, Lukaku, Lingard, Christensen (-8pts)
    B) Auba, Firmino, Mustafi >>> Lukaku, Vardy, Robertson (-4pts)

    So to summarise:
    1) Am I GTG for this week and bench order ok?
    2) A or B from above for transfers for DGW34 BB?

    Cheers!

    Pope - Butland
    Smalling - Christensen - Mee - Daniels - Robertson
    Mahrez - Salah - Son - Willian - Stanislas
    Auba - Firmino - Niasse

Got 2.6 ITB and all chips left. I'm really torn between these options:
    1. WC now
    2. FH34, have 9 players for GW35 (without hits). WC36.
    3. FH35, WC36.

Currently leaning against 2. or 3. Feel the team is half-decent for 34, but missing some key assets and dont like the TC options.

Hi Balotelli, I'd go for option 3.

As you say, your current team, with a few tweaks, is nicely positioned for GW34 already. It would be a shame to throw away the strong position that good fortune/good planning has put you in. Saving the WC for GW36 can give you a big advantage by being able to see the players any ML rivals have selected and react accordingly (+ extra info on injuries/suspensions/form of course), and allow you to BB in GW37.

In advance of GW34 you could look at doing some combination of the 3 or 4 of the below transfers for a total of -4/-8 that should pay for themselves comfortably:
      Robertson > Alonso (this week)
      Firmino > Vardy (this week)
      Auba > Lukaku (next week)
      Stanlislas > Lingard (next week)

I say this because I'm in essentially the same position and have given these various options a fair bit of thought! Good luck - let us know what you decide.

        Thanks a lot!

Pretty much agree with your thoughts and that was my initial plan as well. Kane is giving me a headache as I dont see many other good TC options, but this means big sacrifices elsewhere (dont fancy Lukaku). I guess the only thing to do is to watch GW33 and reasses.

Looking to have both Kane and Lukaku for next week. Best move this week lab g money for Auba >> Lukaku next week?

I will B.B. in 34 and No free hit chip

    A) Firmino + Mkhi >> Kane + Albrighton -4

    B) Firmino + Willian >> Kane + Milivojevic -4

    C) Firmino + Alonso >> Kane + Christensen -4

    Hear me out...

On the scoutcast last night, they discussed the ideal frontline for GW34. Seemed that there was agreement on Lukaku, Kane and Barnes.

My current frontline is Lukaku, Firmino and Vardy. I will monitor Firmino's minutes tonight as his minutes on the weekend could be limited depending on the result. I obviously would like to keep Vardy going forward, but hoping I can cover it off by owning Mahrez. Plus there's no obvious person to downgrade in a Salah, Mahrez, Son, Willian, King frontline.

So would you do for this week.....

    Firmino + Vardy ------> Kane + Barnes

        Willian, then Lingard, then Rambo.

Qualifier: Rambo goes straight to the top of that list if/when Arsenal are knocked out of EL

        Kane and lukaku

The 3rd is not necessary. Get a bench fodder

Kane, Kaku, Vardy, if you can afford them.

Who would you prefer for this gameweek, Kane or Aubameyang?

Planning to do Auba -> Kane next week anyway, but wondering whether I should go a week early with Kane's return to fitness.

        This is a tough one.

I'm frightened of goingbwithout Kane. We all know what he can do. But I am keeping Auba I feel

          So could Stoke though....

Will probably stick and hope Son is adequate cover.

This - easier to get cover with Spurs than it is with Arsenal (where rotation a real issue, and many of their other players simply not very good)

Kane: worth it if won't captain?

        GW34 - prefer Lukaku's fixtures and form
        GW35 - free hit
        GW36 - Salah
GW37 - probably TC Man City mid/Aguero, for fixtures & team form
        GW38 - Salah

If you're not gonna captain him at all then no he's not worth it.

              I just don't see a week where he's optimal.
Perhaps 37, but that's subject to MCI lineup rather than him.

36 possibly. If Liverpool go through in the CL, Salah around that time will possibly be rotated as they have Stoke at home. Kane will have Watford. Also, I think you can captain him 34 and 37 for sure.

Yeah just realised that about 36, although Lukaku could still work as Arsenal are away.
                    34 - not so sure.

I don't understand this. Surely Kane is good for a haul so why not take the (relatively low) risk regardless of whether or not you will captain him?

Cause if he's good for a haul then you should captain him. It's alright if he has a tough fixture/Salah has a better fixture but this guy said he wont captain him whatsoever so why buy him when you can spend funds elsewhere?

Because points count when players aren't captain as well?

In my case it's Lukaku or Kane. Or hits + serious downgrades.

Really depends how you look at it. If Salah has CL Semis then I won’t captain him in 36 and will go for Kane.

For me he could be my captain in 34, 36 & 37.

I think it could still be worth it. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I rarely pre-plan my captaincies. I don't go along with that whole 'expensive players aren't worth owning if you aren't going to captain them' thing. For one thing, it ignores the fact that the cheaper players you use to accommodate ('enable') the big hitters are capable of hauling too.

Not just about captain, but cost to rest of squad. I can't really afford Lukaku & Kane.

Ah yes. It's a tough decision but I've decided to go without Lukaku...definitely a risk you have to weigh.
