Recorded prior to Mohamed Salahโ€™s injury scare, the ScoutCast crew already had one curveball to contend with in this latest episode as we mulled over Harry Kane solutions.

Fit-again and primed to skittle the Stoke City defence, Granville, Jonty, Andy and Az join me to discuss how we go about making plans for Harry ahead of two tempting Double Gameweeks.

Elsewhere in this episode, your community questions steer us to consider the optimum front three, assess Chelseaโ€™s shaky confidence and weigh up the fixtures versus form conundrum that is Marko Arnautovic.

The regular weekend preview is then followed by an extraordinary bout of mind games from Jonty, who appears to have tap into the dark arts to prophesise Salahโ€™s injury two days early. That would explain his rank this season; thereโ€™s been voodoo at work.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

AZ makes a good point regarding DDG vs. Ryan

Basically, it's 2-6 points tops for Ryan vs. Anything from 1-11 for DDG.

Take DDG's ownership into account and he probably becomes the smart choice

I not even seen the scoutcast but surely everyone was thinking this anyway? Why would anyone go Ryan . They are awful defencivly, can even see Hudds scoring. He won't get many save points though ?

Can also see Huddersfield not scoring. Can see both getting 1 save point. Cs much more likely for Ryan. Worth almost two expected points.

It's still close, but MCI's attack is a lot better than HUD's, so there will probably lots of shots towards MUN's goal, but they could still go in with DeGea unable to react.

Eh? How did he get those figures? Both Ryan and DDG have got 11 just once this season.

      6. Ramboros
        • 14 Years

        I think it's a pretty poor point.

City do not shoot a lot. They play for high quality chances and put most of them into the net. City have yet to see a top 6 keeper make lots of saves against them, and there's no reason to believe that will change this GW.

Ryan has only made 4 fewer saves this season than DDG, and has only taken 1 less bonus point. It all comes down to the chance they have of getting a CS, and that is way higher for Ryan than De Gea.

        1. Duffy Dunk

“City do not shoot a lot”

          You been drinking?

2nd most shots in the league this year with 543 shots......

          1. Ramboros

They average nearly 3 goals per game with slightly more than 7 shots on target per game. They get to a massive amount of shots on target because they are better than everyone else, not because their aim is to finish a lot.

Only 4 goal keepers have gotten more than 3 points against City. Pickford (4), Forster (5), Pope (5) and Hennessey (7). The top 6 goal keepers average less than 2 points against City, and Courtois is the only one that has gotten a 3 pointer.

City have scored less than 2 goals in 6 matches this season. In those matches, the goal keepers saved 5, 4, 5, 5 (CS for Hennessey), 6 and 1 shots. It seems pretty clear to me that teams generally will concede their second goal before they receive their second save point from playing against City, meaning a ceiling of 3 points is what you should expect.

You're ignoring the point that Mourinho will park the world's biggest bus and City will be forced into shooting from distance. I can't think of anything Mourinho would want less than City and Pep winning the title vs his team. He will set out 10-0-0 and look to completely frustrate.

      7. MTPockets
          8 years, 19 days ago

11's high but let's say 1-9 vs 2-6. Adjusting for implied cs probabilities Ryan still wins.
          Ownership is another factor though.

Yep. Playing according to the "highest roof" theory is not the best one over long periods. But if, let us say, 10 players play just one round and "the winner takes it all (£€$)", situation is different.

When was the last time anybody put a "hatful" past United, a United team with a coach who will want to avoid losing to City and having City and Pep win the title vs him. He'll set up in a ridiculously defensive way and be ecstatic with a 0-0. Given City have a much bigger game and deficit to overcome vs Liverpool, even if they go 1 up, do you not think Pep will start hauling people off? If he even starts them? He's not English and still going to go gung ho for goals even if 2 nil up.

I meant cant see man city not scoring a goal for 2 consecutive games in a row. They didn't score vs Liverpool. Utd dont have pace in midfield like Liverpool unless they play Herrera. Don't think the shutout is likely

1-11? That's a huge stretch, 11 points would mean an arsenal game type performance & it's impossible to repeat it because city are much more effective in front of goal compared to arsenal

            CS (6)
            6 saves (2)
            3 bonus (3)

            = 11 points

He made 14 saves against Arsenal, which is insane.

I have DDG, Bailly, Ryan and Dunk. With Mikhitaryan and Salah injured, i'm forced to play 4 at the back.
I'm also forced to either double up on Brighton or United, guess it's a no brainer i should go for Utd.

Utd will play defensively, but City will be going all out to win. It means something to them to.

Also, utd have poor defensive form.

Only caveat is a Ryan 6 pointer (CS) is more likely than a DDG 11 pointer (CS, saves + bonus)... but that's the risk you could potentially take and really, you're only like to lose out on 3-4 points in the worst case.

Uniteds defence is far superior to Brightons, DDG is a much better keeper than Ryan... it's something worth considering at least.

easily turn that round with City's attack being far superior to Huddersfield's.
Add in utd away, Brighton home. 5 of Utd's clean sheets away from home (against 11 at home). Only noteworthy away CS was at Liverpool (6 months ago).
Brighton haven't kept a CS this year.
So 2 pts each (assuming City B team don't go crazy)

DDG's FPL scores versus top sides this season

          Liv - 9, 2
          Tot - 9, 2
          Che - 4, 4
          Ars - 8
          Man City - 2

          1. 5 point average - probably makes it a "meh" decision either way.

          DDG - Pereira
          Keane - Schindler - Lowton - Francis - Hunemeier
          Salah - Mane - Mahrez - Walcott - Stanislas
          Aubameyang - Firmino - King

          1 FT and 3.5m itb.

Thinking of Schindler โžก Kiko for free this GW.

Could of course sell Stanislas for a City mid if Salah is out. But I think I won't do that as it'll block my Aguero move in GW 35 and let Keane autosub in.

So, GW 35 - King + Stanislas + DDG โžก Aguero + Mili/Gudmundsson + Ederson. Would just be able to afford it.

          FH in 34 btw. WC 36 BB37.

Yeah, I just mean rather than Lukaku, Son and Kane in one team, and using up all that budget.

Seems hard to get a balanced squad unless choosing only one of Lukaku/Kane, for my team value anyway.

That's a fair question. But why talk about Son and Alli then? Getting those two should have nothing do with whether or not you have Kane.

Because it's a 3rd Spurs spot, and if I'm not getting Kane, I can get both of those (along with Vertonghen).

As long as you don't expect Alli to cover Kane. If I were you, I would just compare Alli with other midfield options and get him only if I think he's the best option. Not because he plays for Spurs.

(assuming Alli is your 3rd priority Spurs pick)

Well, it's a comparison of the two together isn't it. For example:

                      A) Alli + Lukaku (C)
                      B) Arnautovic + Kane (C)
