Fantasy Eliteserien 2018 – Gameweek 5 Preview

Gameweek 4 served up a bumper set of double fixtures, with many Eliteserien managers racking up some huge scores. Another round of double encounters looms in Gameweek 6 but ahead of that we have some respite with this weekend and Monday’s single collection of matches.

Even though this set of fixtures is sandwiched between two pivotal Gameweeks, it should still offer Fantasy managers plenty of opportunity to accrue points.

Gameweek 5 matches

IK Start – Vålerenga
(Saturday, 5:00 P.M.)
After a brilliant opening match at home against Tromsø, Start have lost two games in a row. Despite scoring only one goal in those two, Start have looked like a team capable of scoring goals. Kabran looks like the major threat, while Floki seems to be nailed on up front. Sigurdarson is on most set pieces, but has been the first player to be subbed out of the front players.

Vålerenga will hope to bounce back after a terrible game against Strømsgodset. Johnson is worth monitoring going forward.

Molde – Lillestrøm
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Molde had a terrible game against Rosenborg and were put down to earth again. With two scrappy wins against Haugesund and Tromsø in the previous gameweeks as well there are question marks over how good they are. Rotation is likely as well after last gameweeks horror show. Linde should still be a safe pick. Lehne Olsen and Knudtzon have been among the top scorers over the first four gameweeks, and are being overlooked by a lot due to the double gameweeks. This is probably not the best week to bring them in, but long term they are definitely viable options.

Ranheim – FK Haugesund
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Ranheim pulled an impressive comeback late against Sandefjord away and secured their second win in three games. Neither team looked particularly impressive though, and Ranheim were also tore apart by Tromsø in their first game in the previous gameweek. Tønne still looks like a great option, he was just inches away from scoring against Sandefjord after going around the goalkeeper.

Haugesund have enjoyed a surprisingly good start to the season and have given us a few good options. Akintola currently looks like the prime pick, as he’s been involved in most of their goals and has caught our eye with his great dribbling.

Sandefjord – Kristiansund BK
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Sandefjord still looks like prime candidates to go down, despite their 1-4 win away against Start in Gameweek 3. Last time out they were incredibly lucky to get a draw against Stabæk at home, before they gave away a 1-0 lead at home against Ranheim. We can’t see any Sandefjord assets worth keeping.

Kristiansund played a cynical away game against Brann and almost got away with a point. Their defensively minded approach could mean McDermott is the prime pick from the 4.5 bracket. Gjertsen surprisingly missed out with an injury, he’s worth monitoring. Stokke is also back for Kristiansund.

Stabæk – Tromsø
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
This tie includes two of the most interesting Eliteserien teams right now. Stabæk’s Ohi should be a prime option ahead of the double in Gameweek 6, as should Brochmann who scored his first goal of the season against Sandefjord. They also offes a bunch of budget options, like Vetlesen (4.4) who have been given a more advanced role as a wide central midfielder in a 4-3-3 instead of a holding midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 and Granli (4.0) who seems to have nailed down the right back spot and is also on corners from the left hand side.

As last year, Tromsø was the team who delivered most points during the double Gameweek. Playing attractive attacking football, they scored seven goals over the two fixtures. Åsen was the man of the week with a monster 30 point haul, scoring two, assisting three and three bonus in both games. Antonsen, their out of position defender playing in midfield, scored one and assisted one, while wingback Nilsen also got a goal. Berntsen is emerging as the prime budget pick, as the 5.0 midfielder is fielded up front and looks to be in great form. After assisting a goal in his debut against Molde, he scored a goal and picked up a total of five bonus points over the double. A honorable mention to Gamst, who had two great games from his holding midfield role, and picked up three bonus points.

Strømsgodset – Odd
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Strømsgodset are a team we are struggling to place right now. They played a perfect away game against Vålerenga in a 4-1 win, before they were completely outplayed by Tromsø in a 1-3 loss. Pedersen looks like he’s capable of winning the golden boot, while we had two disappointing games from the prime midfielders Jradi and Ulland Andersen.

Odd got their first win of the season against Bodø/Glimt after a brilliant Ruud free kick, but still doesn’t look like a team likely to score a lot of points. Kitolano still a good pick at 4.5, while Risa is worth monitoring as he’s starting up front in the absence of Børven.

Sarpsborg 08 – Brann
(Sunday, 7:00 P.M.)
Two of the top teams meet up in the late game on Sunday. On paper this looks like a tight match with few chances. Sarpsborg were surprisingly outplayed by Haugesund away and should be fairly happy to get away from that clash with a point. Schwartz looks like a good pick if he can nail down that striker spot over Agger.

Brann scored a deserved winner seven minutes into injury time after an Acosta header. They definitely look like a solid team, but they also look more likely to keep clean sheets than score a lot of goals. Despite the tough matchup, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a clean sheet for Brann here. Rolantsson is worth monitoring as he keeps starting out wide. Wormgoor and Teniste the safe picks, who both offers attacking returns and bonus potential.

Bodø/Glimt – Rosenborg
(Monday, 6:00 P.M.)
Rosenborg came back in a big big way last round, while Bodø/Glimt had their big goalscorer come off with injury, a heavy cramp they are now racing to get completely rid of for monday. Given the season injury on their second choice striker as well, this leaves Bodø/Glimt looking somewhat toothless, and a re-invigorated Rosenborg are huge favorites for this Monday night game. We are looking at the right flank to provide points in Helland and Hedenstad, as well as backing a clean sheet in Hansen and Reginiussen.

Rosenborg’s Tactical Shift Worth Monitoring

One of the huge discussion-points from this last gameweek is the resounding win Rosenborg pulled out at home against previously undefeated Molde. Though much can be explained with the players adding that extra few percentages to the effort on the pitch, there was a huge tactical change worth looking into, in Nicklas Bendtner taking up the left flank, allowing them to field both super-strikers Bendtner and Søderlund up top. With the ill effects of Bendtner’s wandering playstyle neutralised in this way, and also setting up both him and Søderlund as big targets for the crosses from Helland and Hedenstad, Rosenborg looked to be back in that unbeatable form they have sported these seasons passed.

The big question now is, will Rosenborg keep playing in this manner, and what does that do for the Fantasy options in the squad?

Bendtner finding his stride is a big one, with a huge ownership already invested he is once again a danger to those who don’t have him. A continued presence on the left side will dull his prospects as the prime goal scorer, so the price tag is somewhat high now, and the weigh-up vs. ownership gets even tougher than before.

The formation opens up Søderlund as an option, and with him taking the main striker position possibly the best option for strikers. Søderlund is no stranger to the Norwegian golden boot, and is more than capable of pulling out brace and hat-trick performances.

Of most interest is perhaps the added value to Helland and Hedenstad as solid fantasy picks. Helland has always been a big goal and assist threat on his own, and with two big strikers to aim for he should find his target more often than before. The same could be said for Hedenstad, who seems to have unlocked his combination play with Helland to become an equally dangerous threat. That they both share set piece duty also helps, with the likes of Reginiussen, Konradsen and new arrival Hovland bolstering the power present in the box at corners and free kicks.

Alas, this all depends on Rosenborg adapting this tactic full time or not, so all eyes are following them in the coming two Gameweeks before we might see another big push for double or triple ownership in the team.

@Jonty Brighton scouts were at Lerkendal last August, scouting Rosenborg keeper André Hansen. He would have been a fantastic option in FPL, if he had gone there!

Hansen took a position as a lawyer in January, so i guess he'll stay in Trondheim for the rest of his career. This is also the reason why he stepped down from the national team last year, where he was third choice.

Sure hope so! He had previously made comments that he wouldn't be against playing outside Norway, but that position might have changed things.

Good stuff. Would be great if Søderlund's a real alternative. Bendtner cap/not became a little tedious last year.

Strømsgodset definitely a let down in the double for me, but they do tend to underperform away and I should have been less blinkered on a recovering Andersen.

Not sure about Brann clean sheet. Both so far have been in home games, conceded away. Could be similar skew to last season's 6 home CS / 3 away CS. Obviously less relevant but pre season S08-BRA was 2-3.

Have you seen the goal Brann conceded against Strømsgodset? They totally outplayed Strømsgodset and only conceded one half decent chance through the 90 minutes. The goal they conceded wasn't even a chance.

        Here it is - https://streamable.com/75w81

I wouldn't say a CS is very likely, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Maybe outplayed is the wrong word as they didn't create a lot of chances, but they were in full control and didn't concede much chances.

          Strømsgodset - Brann

          41% - 59% possession
          1 - 13 total shots

Read about it, not seen it. Just not sure about Sarpsborg away - would think more likely Sarpsborg keep a clean sheet (+ maybe mol, rbk, sif). But only a guess - can't find team stats this season.

Sarpsborg maybe even more likely. I was just pointing out I wouldn't bench assets like Wormgoor, Teniste and Rolantsson, which most on here own with a DGW coming up. Especially Wormgoor as he's the penalty taker and Rolantsson playing LW.

Probably correct. I was thinking about starting Solberg, but not if Stokke's back and Gjertsen might be.
To be clear I'm just interested in pros/cons, not saying you're wrong.

Yeah, I'm not saying you're wrong either. Personally I have been paying more attention to Sandefjord's games than usual due to parking the bus with Solberg. They look really poor! At home against Stabæk they were really lucky to get away with a point. At home to Ranheim they had an okay first half, but a truly horrible second half. They doesn't look like a team that belong in Eliteserien.

Olsen Solberg has been moved down to CB instead of left wing back, so he's relying on returns from set pieces. Seck has been benched, and he was the major target for set pieces last season.

I'm happy with the 2x10 points I got from him this week, selling him for Granli and not looking back.

Sandefjord also scored four times from 0.61xG away against Start in GW3, so I think that was more likely a one off. Conceded one goal from 1.57xG. Not sure how that game ended 1-4.

That's handy info thanks. Yeah the xG stats aren't encouraging. I may just roll FT & bench Kastrati/Solberg this week as undecided on Floki, but they do need to go.

The guy who "won" the DGW makes me cry..... played the PTB chip with 0(!) double-players and only fielded 4(!) of his defenders.... even with his team, had he used the chip "correctly" he'd have had 177-178 points....

To be fair, Haakenstad hadn't started previous 2 games. Ballsy move though.

True, but he did decide to use the chip.... just feels wrong not to field all 5 defenders for max potential...

Still think Haakenstad was likely to start, but if he didn't think so I would definitely have taken a hit/FT to bring in a 5th defender.

His move ahead of the DGW was Brustad>Mortensen. Proper casual.

                Great preview.

My team’s getting back on track after a slowish start. Into the top 5k now and looking to kick on.

Likely to bring in Ohi this week for Lehne-Olsen to give me:

                Linde
                Wormgoor Glesnes Tønne
                Kabran Nguen Storbæk Gjertsen
                Ohi Brustad Karlsen

                Any other suggestions?

Yeah, is there any news on him? So hard to find injury updates in this game! If he plays, then Sandefjord is a great fixture so don’t want to take him out unnecessarily (like I took out Hedenstad last week!)

                      Nice write-up, as always.

Any tips on Wildcarding this week, both for setting up a chip (personally I already parked the bus GW4) for GW6 and going forward? Need to triple up on Stabæk and Brann if WC, at least.

Wormgoor - Teniste - Rolantsson feels really weird. And a bit CS dependant if thinking in Fantasy terms. Opposing goals really hurts. Not impressed enough with Koomson or Haugen, though, so it's tough to balance the playing positions for the fantasy team. Also not too keen on this with the Sarpsborg match in mind (especially when also pondering whether to WC one or two from that side is worth it - Sarpsborg has somewhat decent matchups all the way to GW8 where they meed Molde).

Ohi - Brochman - Granli (or Vetlesen?), on the other hand seems like a good idea.

Unsure about any Start or Ranheim-players. Like, at all. Lillestrøm and Stabæk away is bad for Ranheim, so Tønne is probably not that great for the DGW? Same with Floki and the Start players since they're meeting Rosenborg and Stabæk, also both away. Not too keen on Floki for this gameweek, either, to be honest.

And, since Rosenborg is a hot prospect for this write-up:
I'm partial to Ågnes Konradsen. Does he seem like a good fit to keep? Or is he better swapped for someone else? He's performing quite well, but Hedenstad and Reginiussen seems like good fits too, as mentioned. (For budget reasons probably not Helland, though, since I'm still gambling on keeping Bendtner even post WC or... most likely, depending on whether I want Pedersen or not). Not tripling up on Rosenborg players just yet.

A lot to consider here. Some quick thoughts:

                        - Tønne still looks a great pick, especially with the dgw.
                        - 2 Brann def and 1 attacker is probably the way to go
                        - Can’t imagine Stabæk will ever keep a clean sheet so wouldn’t bother with that
                        - you may as well max out on dgw players if playing the wc now. They all have good fixtures in gw7 as well

I like Granli as a 4.0 defender. Good for the team structure long term, seems to be nailed on right now and on some set pieces (all corners from the left side).

I wouldn't triple up on Brann defence. It could be a strategy to maximise park the bus, but as you have already used that chip I'd say two maximum.

I agree on the Stabæk part. Four good value picks there. Last gameweek Brochmann and Vetlesen played a similar role, but obviously Brochmann is more vital to the attack and more nailed on in an attacking role. Vetlesen could be moved deep. Price difference is a big factor.

I own both Kabran and Floki as they got a few decent home fixtures as well (this GW, GW7 and they had one in GW3 where they failed). Stabæk have a poor defence, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them scoring. In the long run I definitely want maximum one of them, so I guess one could be enough on a WC.

I still like Tønne. He's a winger in 4-3-3, he's playing really advanced. Wouldn't expect a CS, but could score. He could/should have scored yesterday, was played through one-on-one with the GK, went around him and put his shot inches wide from a tight angle. Interested to see if he'll be rotated though, can't rule that out.

I'm leaving the Rosenborg questions for MrKlin as he's the Rosenborg fan and writing all the Rosenborg stuff.

Personally don't see the point in Konradsen when Åsen is playing so well, Brochmann has a DGW, Gjertsen good fixtures coming up etc. Plus I'd rather keep a Rosenborg slot open for the defenders and big hitters.

I think Tønne will be mainly reliant on attacking returns but there's a decent chance he'll get them, up against two sides not the best defensively. Käck too to a certain degree as he's an attacking fullback. Floki worth a punt.

Good points, I can second this. I would have all the three guys you mentioned instead of Konradsen right now, maybe Kabran as well.

Joining in all things said here... Konradsen was a better option pre-season/early season when it was stated he would be a box-to-box player. This has turned out to be false and he is more and more the DM in the midfield trio, with returns coming his way on set-pieces and 3rd wave attacks. You can do much better at that price. Rosenborg prospects are in goalscoring, and the surprise move made left side wingers a no-go for now. Helland, Hedenstad and Reginiussen are the only ones I'd recomend, and then there is the everlasting question to Bendtner or not to Bendtner, as he seems sure to start no matter what, the only question now where he starts.

For the DGW, Double Brann defence is viable, with the entire back line, keeper and Rolantsson all options, but I'd promote Wormgoor first, Teniste second in that bunch. Tripple can be viable if you go Haugen (or at a punt Koomson) with a double defence, since Brann has a great schedule following the DGW.

Start have underperformed, but Floki has shown himself to be able to score on a given day, and Kabran has an X-factor waiting to blossom fully, so I'd keep both of them if I had them, and consider taking in 1 of them on wildcard.

Tønne is a given, you just can't ignore a defender playing winger at that price, no matter the team.

Stabæk are hard to predict, but they have looked really really poor at the back, I'd say Ohi the only real viable choice with Brochmann and Boli outside punts. Vetlesen in defence is viable too, but mostly because he is destined for your bench after DGW.

                          Thanks for the input, guys!

Current WC something along these lines.

                          Linde - Børreson Fossdal
Granli - Wormgoor - Teniste - Tønne - Hedenstad (removed Nilsen, Vilsvik and Olsen Solberg)
Åsen - Akintola - Brochmann - Haugen - Berntsen (removed Aursnes, Gamst, Konradsen, Jradi, Sæter)
Bendtner - Ohi - Floki (Removed Lehne Olsen)

Got some money to spare, so could in theory change Akintola for Kabran or something along those lines, if having both of the mentioned Start players seems smart. Not quite sure. I had Aursnes earlier, so could go there as well, but Molde players seems so uncertain - not even sure if Linde is my guy for the rest of the season (or at least this WC part)? Could also free up more money by going Haugen -> Koomson. Not having triple Brann for the coming weeks just seems bad, and picking Koomson could turn one or to players into something else, but my gut says Haugen of the two (even if not entirely impressed).

And yeah, I'm sticking with Bendtner for the time being.

(would bench Granli, Tønne, and... Akintola or maybe Berntsen if I pick a different player - could also upgrade Berntsen, of course, but when on budget something's got to give...)

                            I really like that team.

Who are you benching in GW6 though? Looks like a headache as all your players either got a DGW or a great fixture.

Good question. And probably a slight argument against getting Kabran not to increase the headache.

I think GW6 the big question would be if Hedenstad is more likely to get more points in one match than Tønne or Granli in two. An argument could be made to not transfer in Granli if I'll risk bench him GW6, but he's still only 4.0 mill so even if I figure the other two are safer, he's still freeing up between 0.5 and 1.0 mill to use elsewhere.

Might have to bench Akintola and Berntsen in the DGW, despite Tromsø playing home against Sandefjord that match... Brochmann and Haugen are safe in the midfield. Still a week away, though, so it all depends a bit on this week's performances, as well

And in addition to those choices there's the chips question for GW6.

I think I would play Hedenstad over Granli, but I would get Granli anyway as he's 4.0. Always nice with alternatives.

Yeah, don't think it's worth getting Kabran. I already have Kabran and I think I might get Brochmann this GW, but ideally I would rather have Åsen. With Åsen's fixture in GW6 I don't think it's worth getting Kabran.

Vetlesen is also an option over Berntsen. He played a more attacking CM role than the deep role he has been used in previously. Berntsen is also a great value option as I've mentioned, but Vetlesen is even cheaper and playable in the DGW.

I think I prefer Two Captains over Striker Rush for GW6, but then again I don't own Bendtner. Would have considered it if I had Bendtner - Ohi - Floki. Most likely I'll use Two Captains on Ohi and Haugen.

I'm at max Stabæk players, though. With Granli transfered in, I'd have to drop him for Vetlesen. Even so, moneywise, I could transfer in Kitolano or Antonsen at 4.5 in the back. Not sure which one, though.

Leaves me +0.1 moneywise, and every bit counts, so for future options that might be the smarter move? Could always transfer Berntsen or Gamst or someone else in in the future for Vetlesen, withouth having to also double out Granli at a later point (but at the same time, without either Granli or Vetlesen, I'm not really saving money any longer).

Yeah, Striker Rush is tempting GW6 with those three, although Two Captains might still be the more clinical approach. Striker Rush seems strong GW6, but at the same time it can be better utilized when matchups and striker performances are better tuned.

Every 3rd Yellow card earns the player a forced rest for 1 game. The following game that is, no cups included.
Red card, which we saw a surprising amount of last round gets you suspended the following 1 game(will look if it can be more if deemed a really offensive foul).

Malmö FF huge favorites to win the title again, they have 23 league titles so far.... Hate’em!

                            3 Stockholm teams(not counting Brommapojkarna).
The derby’s are a massive thing....
Aik: Big team all over Sweden fan base-wise, also hugely hated. many think they could be the challengers. I think they will self combust as usual. Milosevic the defensive general. Bahoui, Salernos and Olsson all great mids going forward. Goitom THE striker.

Djurgården: also a large fan base all over the country.
Are since start of last season under pressure to actually perform on a high level, to win.
They’ve got Isaksson in goal, Sweden’s former starting goalie with a massive 133 caps for national team.
Their defensive general is Jonas Olsson (245 matches for west brom). Not as good a defensive unit as AIK. They have not managed to win a league derby for about 2400 days! Although they did beat AIK in the cup for like a month ago so maybe this is the year....
Radetinac their and one of the leagues best players. When fit that is, which is once in a blue moon.... Kadeeere their new red hot striker

Hammarby: The team all Swedes(perhaps secretly) love. The fans march together to all(I think) homegames through Söder, it can be over 10000 of them marching to the arena. They play football that is fun to watch but maybe not gets the resaults wanted. Aged Bakircioglu the undisputed king, spot kicker and pen taker. Jiloan Hamad their best player by far.
Also Erkan Zengin with big boy caps and championships under his belt now available as his former Turkish club finally decided to put ink on the paper and sending it through a fax to the powers that be.
Durdic supposed to be their goalscorer but I feel it is a bit of a hornets nest(scored like 15 in 23 when playing twice here in Sweden.

My hometown team IFK Norrköping with 13 titles and the last team to break the Malmö dominance in 2015(Malmö won the 2 years before and the 2 years after).
We have pretty much sold a team and a half since the 2015 win, this is as in Norway the reality of today’s football. We have fed fed the world and Milan the greatest striker to ever walk the earth, Gunnar Nordahl. Yep it was some time ago... We also sold Tomas Brolin to Parma. We hope we now will have struck gold once again in the acquisition of Jordan Larsson, the son of Celtic legend Henrik Larsson.
Players to look out for is:
Linus Wahlqvist, defender or winger. Will of course leave us at some point. Very good, takes some free kicks.
Kalle holmberg: will score the majority of our goals, will surely leave us if he continues to perform. Scored in his debut for national team and IFK Norrköping scores a lot of goals and the potential for players going forward is sky high.
Alexander Jacobsen: Danish passport but ok, no one is perfect. Been in Jong PSV for schooling played here in Sweden before but contract was cancelled when he head butted an opponent(or team mate, can’t remember). All experts thinks he will get a massive breakthrough this season.
David Moberg Karlsson: My current favorite. Great potential, playing on the wing in the front 3 or licking the sideline on midfield if we go with 4-4-2. Very technical player, dribbles a lot, sometimes to much, and is quick as lightning so always seeking to find the through ball.

I’ll do more later if I have time.

Turay seems to be a star in the makings.
                                        Holmberg, you’re a genius 😉

Hamad a great pick, think he has 4 goals and 1 assist in 2 games for fun loving Hammarby. On pens in Bakircioglu’s absence, has scored 2 already.
Mrbati also on pens, playing as 2nd striker.
Dahlin, like Linner a safe pick.
3 starting defenders, good safe picks. Perhaps Salomonsson not to my liking as team are on the slide a bit but he will get points
Kofi a bit of a stinker though, like picking Kante. Great player, important as fook for the teams defensive play and link up between defence and mids when building attack.

I remember them thrashing Barcelona 3-0 in the semi’s of the Europa cup in 86(then loosing on pens after the 2nd leg), I remember them thrashing Man United 3-1 in the CL of 94, the 90’s United, with Cantona. I remember them beating the 90’s Milan by 2-1 after being 1 down in a must win game, the 90’s Milan with legends on every position.

In other words, it’s just sad seeing that club struggling to be top half in a league where any glimce of talent gets you a contract abroad and strangely after all that success struggling financially. I hold them to a higher standard still.

Fair enough - heard they looked impressive in first game vs Trelleborg although I have zero knowledge of Göteborg then and now. Think I'll stick with him and switch to Lundstrom later after he picks up his 3rd yellow.

Smith - shame looked a bargain defender.

They might turn things around this season. Brought in a new coach, the guy that brought up Dalkurd to the top league. He is considered to be probably the most exciting new coach in Sweden. Only 32 years old.

Love the Jebali punt, so quick. Grease him up and he is unstoppable. Sema, to good for Swedish league, Östersund seems to suffer from Europa league hung over though. Bakircioglu not been a starter yet, I’ll check why and post reason later, will do everything when on pitch though(Hamad takes pens in his absence).
Hysen, have his best years wayyy behind him and so does Gothenburg as a team, quite capable still though, may not be a sure starter.

Rosenberg, will be a starter most if not all games(Malmö got Jeremeef and the massive talent Strandberg also though), he will score goals but he also gets cards yellow and red, he is a nasty piece of%#

Geez, seems I lost half of my post. And it was actually aimed at mrmarklin....

It boiled down to ‘don’t care about that defence much apart from Wahlqvist fir obvious and quite possibly biased reasons plus that Dalkurd pick.

Linner, the DdG pick of Allsvenskan. Safe.

I see that. Elyounoussi made a crazy miss in the cup but has talent. Paulinho used to be crazy good when young and new in Sweden. Of course he earned himself a ticket to better league. Häcken a strange team, amazing that a team that draws a crowd of around 2000 ppl can be in the top league year after year and foster talents all the time. Their youth coaches must be amazing.
Bachirou, again, to good for Scandinavia.

This looks to me as an improvement, but beware, I have not yet looked at the game so no clue about prices or fixtures(strong/weak)

Have not seen that much of him but Malmö obviously rates him as they pro longed his contract. The difficulty is that Malmö are incredibly rich by Scandinavian standards but last season he played quite a bit. Now he has a chance as one of their defenders suffers from a collapsed lung and another got a red card last game. Though it depends how they will set up. Some of their defenders ain’t exactly young ones either so time is on his side. CL would help him a lot also as it is gonna he a crazy amount of games when qualifying starts

Cheers. He's a Brann product, and I think it's a big shame he's not there. Brann didn't want to sell him though, but Malmö offered a decent amount of money and the player himself wanted to go. Can't blame him as Brann had just been relegated the season he left.

A slight chance of subject here, but I hate seing all these local players from Bergen becoming great players in other clubs than Brann.. Like Zachariassen at Sarpsborg, Strand at Molde and Glesnes at Strømsgodset. At the same time Brann have less and less local players in their starting XI. A shame.

Aye, I have issues with the same thing.

Quite a few of Norrköping players have returned to Sweden after either being youth team players in Arsenal and Liverpool for example or trying their luck in big teams like Rapid Wien, Bordeaux, AZ Alkmaar, Fulham etc. They don’t return to us though. It’s either Malmö or the Stockholm teams as they can pay more. No loyalty at all, no giving back to the club that brought them their opportunity

The biggest issue with the other guys I mentioned is that they never played for Brann. They played at local clubs at the second/third tier instead. Poor scouting or poor decisions from Brann there, not going for the local lads. It's not like they rejected Brann either, they never had the offer while they were here.

Skålevik and Kristiansen doubts for Brann. If Kristiansen is out, Rolantsson will be moved down to LB.

Carrying this one over from the last thread. Wildcarding this week, and playing one of the chips in DGW. PTB or Two Captains look the most likely alternative. My current draft looks like this:

                                          Hansen - Barli*
                                          Tønne - Teniste - Haakenstad* - Wormgoor - Antonsen*
                                          Kabran - Haugen - Vetlesen - Åsen - Saltnes*
                                          Bendtner - Pedersen* - Floki

                                          Thoughts:
                                          - Keeping Pedersen for one more week, and do Pedersen>Ohi on free transfer ahead of GW6, to block points from mini league rivals that have the former. Or just get Ohi in early?
                                          - Barli won't be played too much anyway. Better options?
                                          - Will Haakenstad be safe from rotation?
                                          - Best options (DGW/non-DGW) to replace Saltnes? Berntsen?
                                          - Antonsen a cheap option who's got lucky with points - or as good an option (or better) than Nilsen?

I think PTB is the best chip to use in that GW.

If so Hedenstad, Wormgoor and one more Brann is a must if so. I would suggest Rolantsson as the second one, but I'm about 75% confident he'll start both. Might start as a LB this weekend as Brann's regular LB is a doubt and he's the only cover. If not, Teniste. Tønne also hard to ignore as a LW. Watch out for rotation with all these games for Ranheim.

Also another note - read today that Wangberg is out for Tromsø, and as a result Antonsen could be moved down to CB. I like Nilsen more anyway, but Antonsen is viable if you need the extra 0.5 (and he's not starting regularly as a CB again).

I don't like Haakenstad anyway, think there's better alternatives out there.

I really like Akintola, but Berntsen also a decent option as a cheap mid. I think I prefer Akintola.

I wouldn't bother with Barli. You got Hansen and he has a great fixture in GW6, I'd go a 4.0 GK and save that 0.5.

And this is a great week for Ohi, so could go either way. If you want him anyway.

                                            In order:
                                            - Toss a coin, think it's about equal chance of Ohi or Pedersen scoring in those games.
                                            - You looking in that price range? I'd not veer from Barli if I had a premium goalie as my main... he is nice fodder for the bench outside of the DGW
                                            - "Safe" is a bit much, but he should hold for now...
                                            - Berntsen is a great shout right now, seems to be very forward, even a bit OOP in his play
                                            - Wangberg apparently picked up something, so Antonsen may be pulled back for now, Nilsen then still the main threat...

                                            Thanks for the feedback, guys!
With your comments in mind, I can get this team with 0.1 itb (meaning I have to go for Berntsen over Akintola):

Hansen - Barli (keep as he's playing anyway?)
Tønne - Teniste - Eggen Hedenstad - Wormgoor - Nilsen
                                            Kabran - Haugen - Vetlesen - Åsen - Berntsen
                                            Bendtner - Ohi - Floki

This means 9 changes from my current team, but that's what's wildcards are for, I guess!

I would rather have Akintola than Berntsen, so that's worth downgrading Barli>4.0 for IMO. You might actually be 0.1 short after the latest price changes on Akintola though?

I like Berntsen and he seems like a good pick, but Akintola seems like a brilliant player. He's on fire at the moment, and I think his ceiling is higher if he can keep the good form.

Can't see where I can get that 0.1 from. Could go with Antonsen instead of Nilsen, but the question then is will Akintola be that much better?

Actually looks really good, you sure you’re not a closet Swede... Been wondering when someone would pick Ghoddos or Hopcut from östersund. If Östersund ain’t completely knackered after their Europa league adventure during winter followed by group stage of Swedish cup(which is played before league season) they are absolutely contenders for Europa cup play(meaning top 3). They probably aim for the gold though.

                                              Also like the Augustinsson pick

Thanks. Great preview as always. Interesting to see Bendtner's role changing, I got rid of him last week for Pedersen but thankfully wasn't burned.

Still no chips and no WC used, and 95 points last week. I will probably use my WC after GW6 so I can prepare for the DGW without thinking about the future too much. I am thinking about using PTB chip, but wondering if any other chips would be better for my squad. Here it is:

                                            Linde - Jonsson
                                            Wormgoor - Glesnes - Remmer - Kitolano - Grorud
                                            Haugen - Jradi - Åsen - Sigurdarson - Vetlesen
Pedersen - Lehne Olsen - Amang

Also 3.2 ITB. I have a few emergency spots such as Amang and Jradi (at least Sigurdarson has his DGW). My thought would be getting Teniste and Hedenstad for Grorud and Remmer. That would give me Wormgoor - Teniste - Hedenstad - Glesnes - Kitolano. Do not know if it is worth playing the chip though. I do not want to play AA chip because I only like Brann's fixtures in terms of attacking points and I would have to take a hit to replace all my three forwards in 2GWs.

Of course another strategy would be using my wildcard this week and playing PTB next week with Wormgoor - Teniste - Hedenstad - Granli and one more player. That would also give me chance to bring in the likes of Koomson, Ohi, Brochmann, Kabran, Floki etc. I am kind of getting more comfortable with using my WC as I am writing this comment actually 🙂 But I would not want to load up too much on DGW players as well.

Would be really happy to hear thoughts as I am kind of at a loose end.

                                            Swedish Allsvenskan

                                            Hi lads

Here’s my starting squad for the Swedish Allsvenskan, appreciate any comments from those in the know. My thoughts are to set-up with just the first three gameweeks in mind and then Wildcard in GW 4. In part, we will have some more data to work with by then and I also noticed in the fixture list that AIK play I Sirius twice in GW 4. They were originally scheduled to play one of the matches in GW 14 but that appears to have been moved, don’t know why.

I Sirius also appear to have a Double Gameweek in GW 9 with one match at the end of May and the other at the beginning of July, either side of the summer break.

                                            Squad:

                                            Linner Petric

                                            Salomonsson Wernersson Lundqvist Borges Danielsson

                                            Hamad Sema Mrabti Svanberg Sugita

                                            Stefanelli Holmberg Buya-Turay

                                            0.0 ITB

If there isn’t a FFS league set up please feel free to join this one (code: 4983-868), a couple of lads who play Eliteserien have joined and the more the merrier.

Nice team, I looked at Traustason but was priced out so went for Svanberg who is 1.5m cheaper.

Also looked at Omarsson up top but his stat from last season of playing 25 league games with zero goals put some doubt in my mind. He did score four goals in five cup games.

Like you though my knowledge of Swedish football is four-fifths of bugger all.

I did have him in. From what I can gather Traustason seems more attacking, but may change my mind later. Also prices me out of AIK attacker, which may be a mistake.

Omarsson - you're right but only started 4 games last season and generally subbed on late. They've apparently (from podcast) been changing things up pre season, inc perhaps less reliance on Hysen as he's getting on. Has started both so far and scored but it is a risk.

Alright, threw together a quick team:
                                                      Dahlin
                                                      Salomonsson - Danielsson - Borges - Lundström
                                                      Diskerud - Hamad (c) - Traustason
Elyounoussi (vc) - Omarsson - Rosenberg

                                                      Petric - Hadzikadunic - Jovanovic - Lundholm (1.0 itb)

Really don't know which players to go for. Going with a few Norwegian players in Elyounoussi and "Mix" Diskerud. Rosenberg is one of the few players I'm familiar with other than those two.

Any other teams/players worth targeting/getting in?

Fantasy Allsvenskan team. Will probably be set-and-forget although I might tinker with the lineup if I've got time. Gone for players I know from irl including a few Eliteserien guys, players I've used on FIFA and what I gather are decent options from about 30 mins research. Gutted Källström's retired.

                                                    Dahlin
                                                    Lundström, Paulsen, Smith
                                                    Mrabti, Hamad, Svanberg, Traustason
                                                    Omarsson, Ghoddos, Elyounoussi

                                                    Petric; Sugita, Jönsson, Augustinsson

No idea for the most part. Would've liked a few more Norwegians but looks like Sander Svendsen and Ingebrigtsen aren't starting. I remember Movsisyan was decent in the Russian league a few years ago but he hasn't played for Djurgården yet.

Also wanted that Östersund defender who was pictured in an Arsenal kit and more Dalkurd because their story seems cool and they're the team closest to where the guy in my pic comes from.

                                                    Nice review.

My season has now officially gotten a good start after a powerfull jolt by PTB in GW 4. 109 points (-12).

WC activated last weekend to create a new team for GW6 and Spissrush/Double Captain.

                                                    Current WC-team:
                                                    Linde, Falch
                                                    Wormgoor, Rolantsson, Hedenstad, Tønne, Granli
                                                    Helland, Åsen, Akintola, Brochmann, Valles
                                                    Ohi, Pedersen, Floki

                                                    ITB: 0.6

Heavy investment in the back, Hedenstad and Linde most likely not to stay in my team until deadline. Brann and Stabæk seem to be the best choices for GW, but I'm not sure if I'll go with Haugen/Koomson or Skålevik.

Also unsure of which RBK-assets to include, but picking expensive ones gives me flexibillity going forward. Akintola, Åsen and Falch looks like to much value not to be included.

                                                    Any input?

Looks very strong. Maybe Barli over Falch since he's more nailed and has a double?

                                                        Thanks.

I think Falch represents more value than Barli and will outscore him in GW6. My GKs and DEFs are perhaps too exspensive, but I would rather downgrade Linde and get another 4,5/Bråtveit.

After Mrklin's info about Rolantsson, I will go with Teniste over him, så that's one downgrade.

Rolantsson is a doubt... they are saying he has been the weak link on the flank and many are calling for one of the 3 other wingers to get their shot. I'd recomend moving down to Teniste there, more stable choice.

Brann have a great schedule following the DGW, so could even look at possible tripple there, or perhaps an upgrade to Brochmann or Valles with the extra cash

                                                        Thanks.

                                                        Rolantsson -> Teniste it is.

I will get an attacking player from Brann, but I might wait until GW6. Difficult fixture now and I have difficulties deciding between Haugen, Koomson and Skålevik (if fit). If I'll chose Skålevik I might play Spissrush in GW6, otherwise I'll probably play the double captain chip.

A doubt and a weak link is hash. I'm following Brann closely and he's definitely not a weak link. He's not a standout player, but he's a solid and hard working player that the coach very much like.

Right now he's definitely first choice at LW, but I fear he could get rotated for the DGW and could lose his place if he doesn't play well or the other performs. Marengo is pushing for a start, but could as well be Koomson who drops out IMO.

This week Kristiansen, the LB, is a doubt and if he's out Rolantsson will play LB. What if Marengo has a great game at LW and Rolantsson play well at LB?

Teniste is definitely the safe and solid pick, but Rolantsson definitely more likely to haul if he starts both. It's the question of going safe with Teniste or high risk high reward with Rolantsson.

Spent some more time on my Allsvenskan Fantasy team this morning. Made some changes from last night's draft, and currently have this team:

                                                    Dahlin
                                                    Salomonsson - Borges - Lundström
                                                    Mrbati - Diskerud - Hamad (c) - Traustason
Elyounoussi - Buya Turay - Rosenberg
                                                    (Petric - Danielsson - Hadzikadunic - Titi)

Have Rosenberg mostly because he's one of the few players in the league I'm familiar with. Better to find the extra 0.5 to make way for Holmberg - or hope that Östersund turns things around, and go for Ghoddos?

The wildcard has given me another headache going into this GW. If I stick with the current draft, I'll have to decide on the following:

                                                    - Bench Berntsen, going with four at the back - being four of:
Wormgoor - Teniste - Tønne - Eggen Hedenstad - Nilsen

-Or play Berntsen, going with three at the back, with the names mentioned above.

Double-up on Brann away against S08 is too risky, right? Nilsen is also playing away, Tønne at home (relying on OOP involvement, there), while Eggen Hedenstad looked promising last game.

I would bench either Nilsen or Teniste for Berntsen.

Oh, you had to bench two. I'd say the two I mentioned then.

Thank you @Niemi and @Flaming Flamingo!
Haven't had the chance to see that many matches or highlights, so the benching order is a difficult one. A case for playing Berntsen given his recent results, and attacking potential. Might as well bench Teniste and Nilsen, and play Tønne as he's at home and was close to scoring the last time.

Think I'm close to being set on the WC now. Won't be able to afford Akintola (0.1 away), but Berntsen seems like a good option for the price.

Captaincy the next headache. Will have to go for one of Bendtner, Floki, Ohi or Åsen. Hm…

I'd play Berntsen and bench two of Tonne, Nilsen and Teniste.

                                                        You're still unsure huh.

                                                        Amang > Floki maybe?

You couldstart looking towards the double. Jradi > Haugen? You could save and have two FTs.. that might be the best option

Yeah I've looked at the Amang - Floki move.

Was considering wildcarding to use a chip next week, but I'm struggling to get excited about the teams involved.

After a nice boost up the rankings last week 46k to 24k thanks to Asen and Nilsen this Eliteserian first timer is looking to build on that momentum. Have put together the following wildcard for this week with the intention of playing PTB in DGW 6

Linde Mande - Worm Teniste Nilsen Granli Tonne - Kabran Haugen Konrdsen Asen Akintola - Bendtner Floki Ohi

Any obvious errors or suggestions and would you play Mande over Linde in DGW week 6

                                                        Thanks in advance !

The obvious error/suggestion is your formatting of your team 😉

See my above comment for why I'm not keen on Konradsen. Mande maybe not the best pick as it takes up all your Stabaek places if you wanted Boli or a midfielder. Otherwise looks good.

My defence will be similar but Hedenstad and Käck instead of Nilsen and Granli.

Currently on Ohi but might switch to Helland. Maybe not a bad week for Two Captains? Playing PTB in GW6 so it'll be a long wait to see if any other DGWs emerge later in the season.

Yeah, you could. I used PTB already so ill be using a different one in GW6. I'd probably hold on the double captain. Doesn't look a clear cut option and people might hit incredible form later

In undecided on Bendtner, Ohi, Åsen or Floki. Bendtner looked good last match, though.

All good options. Floki is the fourth choice of those I think

True. Floki could be worth a punt, but mini-league standing makes that a bit risky. The other options may deliver more points.

Just a heads up for Fantasy Allsvenskan

There's a DGW in GW4 for AIK and Malmõ. There's also one DGW in GW6. The GW6 teams will blank in GW7 or GW8. The GW4 teams will blank in GW14.

Malmö and Djurgården got 2 DGWs. Sirius and AIK got one in GW4. Kalmar, Brommopojkarna, Örebro and Hammarby got one in GW6.

Threw together a team without even knowing this and I've already got more players for these DGWs (3 Malmö, 2 DIF, 2 AIK, 2 Hammarby, 1 BP) than the Eliteserien ones. I guess the negative is I have no idea who might be rotated

Also important to note that the last 3 fixtures of GW6 can be moved to GW7, which would mean a DGW for Malmö and Hammarby, but not the other 4 teams.
