Gameweek 4 served up a bumper set of double fixtures, with many Eliteserien managers racking up some huge scores. Another round of double encounters looms in Gameweek 6 but ahead of that we have some respite with this weekend and Monday’s single collection of matches.

Even though this set of fixtures is sandwiched between two pivotal Gameweeks, it should still offer Fantasy managers plenty of opportunity to accrue points.

Gameweek 5 matches

IK Start – Vålerenga
(Saturday, 5:00 P.M.)
After a brilliant opening match at home against Tromsø, Start have lost two games in a row. Despite scoring only one goal in those two, Start have looked like a team capable of scoring goals. Kabran looks like the major threat, while Floki seems to be nailed on up front. Sigurdarson is on most set pieces, but has been the first player to be subbed out of the front players.

Vålerenga will hope to bounce back after a terrible game against Strømsgodset. Johnson is worth monitoring going forward.

Molde – Lillestrøm
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Molde had a terrible game against Rosenborg and were put down to earth again. With two scrappy wins against Haugesund and Tromsø in the previous gameweeks as well there are question marks over how good they are. Rotation is likely as well after last gameweeks horror show. Linde should still be a safe pick. Lehne Olsen and Knudtzon have been among the top scorers over the first four gameweeks, and are being overlooked by a lot due to the double gameweeks. This is probably not the best week to bring them in, but long term they are definitely viable options.

Ranheim – FK Haugesund
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Ranheim pulled an impressive comeback late against Sandefjord away and secured their second win in three games. Neither team looked particularly impressive though, and Ranheim were also tore apart by Tromsø in their first game in the previous gameweek. Tønne still looks like a great option, he was just inches away from scoring against Sandefjord after going around the goalkeeper.

Haugesund have enjoyed a surprisingly good start to the season and have given us a few good options. Akintola currently looks like the prime pick, as he’s been involved in most of their goals and has caught our eye with his great dribbling.

Sandefjord – Kristiansund BK
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Sandefjord still looks like prime candidates to go down, despite their 1-4 win away against Start in Gameweek 3. Last time out they were incredibly lucky to get a draw against Stabæk at home, before they gave away a 1-0 lead at home against Ranheim. We can’t see any Sandefjord assets worth keeping.

Kristiansund played a cynical away game against Brann and almost got away with a point. Their defensively minded approach could mean McDermott is the prime pick from the 4.5 bracket. Gjertsen surprisingly missed out with an injury, he’s worth monitoring. Stokke is also back for Kristiansund.

Stabæk – Tromsø
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
This tie includes two of the most interesting Eliteserien teams right now. Stabæk’s Ohi should be a prime option ahead of the double in Gameweek 6, as should Brochmann who scored his first goal of the season against Sandefjord. They also offes a bunch of budget options, like Vetlesen (4.4) who have been given a more advanced role as a wide central midfielder in a 4-3-3 instead of a holding midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 and Granli (4.0) who seems to have nailed down the right back spot and is also on corners from the left hand side.

As last year, Tromsø was the team who delivered most points during the double Gameweek. Playing attractive attacking football, they scored seven goals over the two fixtures. Åsen was the man of the week with a monster 30 point haul, scoring two, assisting three and three bonus in both games. Antonsen, their out of position defender playing in midfield, scored one and assisted one, while wingback Nilsen also got a goal. Berntsen is emerging as the prime budget pick, as the 5.0 midfielder is fielded up front and looks to be in great form. After assisting a goal in his debut against Molde, he scored a goal and picked up a total of five bonus points over the double. A honorable mention to Gamst, who had two great games from his holding midfield role, and picked up three bonus points.

Strømsgodset – Odd
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Strømsgodset are a team we are struggling to place right now. They played a perfect away game against Vålerenga in a 4-1 win, before they were completely outplayed by Tromsø in a 1-3 loss. Pedersen looks like he’s capable of winning the golden boot, while we had two disappointing games from the prime midfielders Jradi and Ulland Andersen.

Odd got their first win of the season against Bodø/Glimt after a brilliant Ruud free kick, but still doesn’t look like a team likely to score a lot of points. Kitolano still a good pick at 4.5, while Risa is worth monitoring as he’s starting up front in the absence of Børven.

Sarpsborg 08 – Brann
(Sunday, 7:00 P.M.)
Two of the top teams meet up in the late game on Sunday. On paper this looks like a tight match with few chances. Sarpsborg were surprisingly outplayed by Haugesund away and should be fairly happy to get away from that clash with a point. Schwartz looks like a good pick if he can nail down that striker spot over Agger.

Brann scored a deserved winner seven minutes into injury time after an Acosta header. They definitely look like a solid team, but they also look more likely to keep clean sheets than score a lot of goals. Despite the tough matchup, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a clean sheet for Brann here. Rolantsson is worth monitoring as he keeps starting out wide. Wormgoor and Teniste the safe picks, who both offers attacking returns and bonus potential.

Bodø/Glimt – Rosenborg
(Monday, 6:00 P.M.)
Rosenborg came back in a big big way last round, while Bodø/Glimt had their big goalscorer come off with injury, a heavy cramp they are now racing to get completely rid of for monday. Given the season injury on their second choice striker as well, this leaves Bodø/Glimt looking somewhat toothless, and a re-invigorated Rosenborg are huge favorites for this Monday night game. We are looking at the right flank to provide points in Helland and Hedenstad, as well as backing a clean sheet in Hansen and Reginiussen.

Rosenborg’s Tactical Shift Worth Monitoring

One of the huge discussion-points from this last gameweek is the resounding win Rosenborg pulled out at home against previously undefeated Molde. Though much can be explained with the players adding that extra few percentages to the effort on the pitch, there was a huge tactical change worth looking into, in Nicklas Bendtner taking up the left flank, allowing them to field both super-strikers Bendtner and Søderlund up top. With the ill effects of Bendtner’s wandering playstyle neutralised in this way, and also setting up both him and Søderlund as big targets for the crosses from Helland and Hedenstad, Rosenborg looked to be back in that unbeatable form they have sported these seasons passed.

The big question now is, will Rosenborg keep playing in this manner, and what does that do for the Fantasy options in the squad?

Bendtner finding his stride is a big one, with a huge ownership already invested he is once again a danger to those who don’t have him. A continued presence on the left side will dull his prospects as the prime goal scorer, so the price tag is somewhat high now, and the weigh-up vs. ownership gets even tougher than before.

The formation opens up Søderlund as an option, and with him taking the main striker position possibly the best option for strikers. Søderlund is no stranger to the Norwegian golden boot, and is more than capable of pulling out brace and hat-trick performances.

Of most interest is perhaps the added value to Helland and Hedenstad as solid fantasy picks. Helland has always been a big goal and assist threat on his own, and with two big strikers to aim for he should find his target more often than before. The same could be said for Hedenstad, who seems to have unlocked his combination play with Helland to become an equally dangerous threat. That they both share set piece duty also helps, with the likes of Reginiussen, Konradsen and new arrival Hovland bolstering the power present in the box at corners and free kicks.

Alas, this all depends on Rosenborg adapting this tactic full time or not, so all eyes are following them in the coming two Gameweeks before we might see another big push for double or triple ownership in the team.

Scout Picks

As before, these are our best eleven for this round alone, with no regard to the upcoming gameweeks or any chip play.

Didn't realise until just now but it appears Fantasy Allsvenskan has attacking/defensive bonuses similar to the bonus tiers in the Sky game including key passes, clear chances created and possibly negative ones as well like clear chances missed or mistakes leading to a goal (someone else can translate them better than me)

Wow, only just noticed... check out what they've replaced the bonus points with in Fantasy Allsvenskan.... translates something like this:

            OFFENSIVE BONUSES
1 point for every 3 crosses
1 point for every 3 key passes
point for every clear chance (where players SHOULD score)
            -1 for missed clear chance

            DEFENCE BONUS
1 point for every 6 recoveries
-1 point for mistakes resulting in goal against

This would really play into rewarding those "grey" midfielders... Kanté would have a fieldday in FPL with the recovery-bonuses...

well I have one myself. I believe stabekk tromsø might be a game with some goals in it so dont wanna bench from that. All striker might score this week. However S08 brann doesnt smell goals so make sense to bench from that. Only other then zachariassen I can bench then is haugen.

That's a headache for sure. You could bench one of the Start guys as well, but I don't know what to expect there. Fielding both myself.

I wouldn't bench Åsen, Brochmann, Haugen, Pedersen or Ohi this week for sure. Not a good fixture for Haugen, but if Brann score he's very likely to be involved. Toss up between the others, all of them could potentially score points.

He will get more minutes then Strandberg and Jeremejeff, that is for sure. But those 2 are much to good not to steal gametime.

Probably cause of Elfsborg loosing their edge a bit in the last few seasons(and a few players of course).
Used to be title contenders year after year before that.
Hell of a place to come to for most teams.
Still got player material to be top 3 if they get their act together.

I agree on Östersund. A mish mash of players that have been given a 2nd and 3rd chance.
Their English coach is a true gent that dares to think outside the box. A few years back they trained ballet(yes indeed) off season leading up to a shownight. this to create team spirit and tearing down walls. in the group.
Was actually quite happy afer we lost the cup final to them leading to them getting that Europa league spot they took full advantage of(we had secured a spot in the league).
When the final whistle blew players parents ran on to field crying of happiness, telling reporters hoe proud they were of their sons as many come from broken backgrounds in Sweden and/or fleeing their countries torn apart from war, political persecution or ethnic cleansing

Seems so but it is week nr 1 of the game so who knows how it´s gonna work out.

I´m a Swede and have been playing fantasy games on and off since the late 80´s and had to read about the game on this site about 36 hours before deadline so it seems they have not exactly gone all in on `selling´the game..... Also strange to start it in gw3, makes me think it might not be very well planned.

That might be the reason. Will check later in the evening. Won't expect many points, looking at the final score of the Sundsvall-Malmö match.

So, after first game for Malmö.
3 big names for them up top of which 2 will start. Rosenberg, Strandberg and Jeremejeff, the last 2 scored. Yet, Rosenberg will always be nr 1 that is for sure. A hornets nest to pick from.

Was it an injury? not seen it yet as I slept through first half.
fell aslepp after work and woke up 40 minutes ahead of deadline without having made a team before that.
So I have not taken fixtures in to account meaning I have quite a few players in the Aik Djurgården derby....

Also worth mentioning. Malmö looked pale after Bachirous injury but managed to find their feet again late in the game.
Could easilly have lost this one though..

Sundsvall is a long journey north for all teams bar Östersund....
The Tromsö of Allsvenskan in that aspect.

Trelleborg, that played in the other game is the same but south(not for Malmö though). Also their arena is well known for not allowing good football being played, windy as hell.
Besara´s 2nd today there was a free kick that first hit the wall then got carried by the wind in to the goal. A parody but those counts as well

That Malmö tripple-up doesn't look too good right now. Depending on the possible injury on Traustason (if I heard it right), options might be worth looking at. Early days, though.

Which chip are you looking to use for GW6?

Some of us used PTB in GW4 and it worked well. I'm looking at striker rush but also double captain. Anyone else? Could save both as I'm not sure who I'd want to put it on..

I don't have Haugen, and hasn't done much so far (in pts, otherwise a great player in eliteserien).
Not sure about logic of Ohi + Brann defence vs Ohi (or at Ranheim where results quite mixed so far).

Haven't 100% ruled out striker rush but would involve rolling ft then a hit. I'm a big fan of chips in doubles though so a little frustrating.

Yeah same situation for me really. I don't know if we can count on doubles down the line so it's probably a pretty big call we need to make.

Karlsen a rotation risk though, as we saw this week. I like Floki, but not the best fixtures. Also a slight rotation worry (IMO) after they added so many numbers to their squad last few days of the transfer window, but if he performs he should be nailed. Boli an option from Stabæk, but he's a striker playing out wide. Also a rotation risk at Brann, unless Skålevik is ruled out for more than this weekend (but I don't think so). Johansen not someone I would have used a chip on anyway.

If I was forced to go with three DGW strikers I would go with Ohi, Floki and Boli, but I'm not confident that would be a success.

Karlsen - absolutely but if I still have him I'll play him again.
Floki's an ok pick, just not keen for a chip given form/fixtures. I didn't appreciate that slight rotation worry.
An in form Skålevik could have been good. Was my orginal plan but not worked out.
I wouldn't want to be left with Ohi + Boli.

Would definitely play Karlsen, but not worth a chip.

The Floki slight rotation risk is my personal opinion. I might be wrong, but there have been some rotation at Start so far. Sigurdarson likely to be benched this GW. Still think Floki is first choice, but what if he play two bad games in a row now?

Double captain, not enough confidence in the DGW strikers beside Ohi. I would also like to have Bendtner in my team if I was using Attack Attack, and he's not in my team currently.

I'm looking to use Park The Bus in GW6, having used Striker Rush in GW4. Double Captain is probably the least powerful chip, so I'm more inclined to use that one outside of a double.

Yeah, maybe the right call. But with only two of my three strikers (Floki and Ohi, not Pedersen) having doubles I feel it's a bit of a waste. Could be off with that though

The problem for me is I can't find three DGW strikers I want to use it on. If you use Striker Rush on 2 DGW players + 1 SGW player, then it's not giving you an advantage over the Two Captains chip.

Striker Rush on 2DGW + 1SGW player + Two Captains on 2SGW players = double points from 2DGW + 3SGW players. Would consider this if I owned Bendtner + Ohi + probably Floki.

Two captains on 2 DGW players + Striker Rush on 3SGW players = double points from 2DGW + 3SGW players.

That's why I rather use the Two Captains chip on Ohi + Haugen (most likely), who I think are probably the best options this GW, and save Attack Attack for a week where I have a good front line with good fixtures.

3 DGW players with Attack Attack obviously gives two extra fixtures, but I can't see who I'd replace Pedersen with. Rather captain two good DGW assets than one good and two "punts".

There's a slight chance there could be more DGW fixtures towards the end of the season as well, but chances aren't that big and it will most likely be max 1-2 extra games if so.

Exactly my thoughts. Glad you wrote it out and I didn't have to 😉

The only thing I'd add is which will be more useful later? If EUA or Jradi or Haugen or any others start to really look good I would want the double captain for them and a forward, or two of them, later. It's a bit more flexible. At the same time, I'm sure at some point I'll want to double captain two strikers and a third will have a decent game.

Right now, I think I'll play the less powerful chip (double captain) because I don't think either is perfect, and hope a situation comes up later where I'll want to use the other

I definitely agree that Two Captains is the more flexible chip and that's the one I would prefer to keep. If we get another DGW Two Captains would allow you to captain any two players. If you're stuck with Attack Attack you either have to go for the DGW attackers or save the chip to captain a midfielder for example. What if the teams with a DGW have great options in midfield, but poor options up front?

This is the kind of the case this week though. I see a few good options at the back, two-three good midfield options and only one good striker option.

Had a quick look. Far out, but in GW14 and GW16 Molde , Sarpsborg, Rosenborg and Strømsgodset all have good home fixtures. There are surely a lot of gameweeks where three great striker options (Bendtner/Søderlund, Pedersen/Mos, Mortensen/Schwartz, Amang/Chima/Håland, Lehne Olsen, Opseth) have good fixtures. Obviously depending on form and if we know who they are fielding up front.

That makes sense. Especially since most people won't have the luxury of three strikers when using Striker Rush. In any case, I think Ohi and Haugen are fine choices for Double Captain and I too would rather rely on them than the likes of Floki and SGW players (with the exception of maybe Bendtner and Lehne-Olsen). Thanks for your help with all of this btw, without the guidance and information given by you and Mrklin there's no way this would have become a big a thing as it has 🙂

Traustason taken off as pre-caution as he got a kick on his ankle where he aleady had pain, should be ok.
Bachirou though, will be checked out but looks likely to be out for a few games.

Swedens biggest paper give out 5 stars to the 5 best players on the pitch.
5 to the best and 1 to the worst of those 5 best(hmmm).

5 plus to David Batanero(mid), Sundsvall. Controlled the midfield with his left foot and gave Sundsvall a whole new dimension.
4 plus to Eric Larsson(def), Malmö. Stormed through the right wing and will be a great offensive weapon this season.
3 plus to Linus Hallenius(fwd), Sundsvall. Fought very well but no goal, very usefull making way for team mates.
2 plus Strandberg(fwd), Malmö. Fought hard with mixed resaults, good headed goal.
1 plus David Myrestam(def), Sundsvall. Looks a good replacement for Danielsson(sold to Djurgården), solid performance.

Thanks for the info! Will be keeping Traustason, then. The little I saw of him was good - although not a good match by Malmö in general.

Was close to going for Larsson, but 0.5 too much. If I downgrade Rosenberg, he looks a good option. Hallenius looked dangerous from what I saw of the match. Likely to get goals?

Sundsvall a team always dancing on ther edge in relegation battle. Often has to qualify against 3rd team in 2nd tier to keep their place. So they don´t score much since the days Leif Forsberg, father of Emil Forsberg of RB Leipzig, his number 10 shirt is retired...

                                  Plan B:

Save 5 mill by going Konradsen over Helland, then going Bendtner over Pedersen.

Allows Teniste -> Rolantsson + 2m wiggle room in the bank.

Maybe downgrade Aasmundsen to Vetlesen if you're wanting Rolantsson? Alternatively, you could also dowgrade Helland to Haugen. Wouldn't drop all the way down to Konradsen though personally.

Yeah, see what you mean - fancy Aasmundsen, KBK fixtures looking good and this guy is getting some hype. Don’t want to go without Rosenborg attackers, as they’ll have a field day vs Glimt.

Tønne, Olsen Solberg, Rolantsson, Wormgoor and Nilsen. Who would you pick for this round? Currently on Tønne, Rolantsson and Wormgoor, but not sure if I want two from Brann.

Thanks! Yeah, I know, but I've got all of five of them (parked the bus last round), so two of them will be on the bench.

I'd pick one of Solberg/Nilsen + Tønne + Wormgoor/Rolantsson to hedge my bets.

                                    Play one of these:

                                    1) Tønne
                                    2) Teniste
                                    3) Akintola (for whom?)
                                    4) Granli

                                    Hedenstad Wormgoor -?-

Gamst out with an injury tomorrow! Apparently more of a precaution.

Antonsen will be moved down and play as the holding midfielder and Åsen will play as a box-to-box midfielder (the role Antonsen had the last two games). Vuk will come in up front.

Thanks for the info! Haven't seen much of Tromsø this season. Is this very different to where Åsen has played on the field in the other matches?

Tromsø like to change positions a fair bit, so Åsen will change between playing as a box to box midfielder and a left winger. Berntsen lose out more, as he typically will change between playing as a second striker and a right winger. He'll likely join Åsen in midfield.

Kabran has been a bit of a disappointment.

Not getting many points there. Will be one of the spots in the team to consider dong something with.

Pretty shambolic defending for the 2nd.

Absolutely. First choice GK got injured during warm ups. Not impressive from the new guy or the defense. They look horrible at the back.

I may just take a hit for Bendtner/Ohi/Brochmann, pass on more IKS.

I am going to use spissrush on Bendtner, Ohi and Boli next GW. This Start side can't defend.

The guy leading a mini league I'm in, got both Finne and Johnson(c)!

Siggy lost his place in team then?

Jesus, that defence made mediocre look like Leroy Sane.

Larsen looks completely shocked in his ES picture, probably realised he's on -4 for this week
