Gameweek 4 served up a bumper set of double fixtures, with many Eliteserien managers racking up some huge scores. Another round of double encounters looms in Gameweek 6 but ahead of that we have some respite with this weekend and Monday’s single collection of matches.

Even though this set of fixtures is sandwiched between two pivotal Gameweeks, it should still offer Fantasy managers plenty of opportunity to accrue points.

Gameweek 5 matches

IK Start – Vålerenga
(Saturday, 5:00 P.M.)
After a brilliant opening match at home against Tromsø, Start have lost two games in a row. Despite scoring only one goal in those two, Start have looked like a team capable of scoring goals. Kabran looks like the major threat, while Floki seems to be nailed on up front. Sigurdarson is on most set pieces, but has been the first player to be subbed out of the front players.

Vålerenga will hope to bounce back after a terrible game against Strømsgodset. Johnson is worth monitoring going forward.

Molde – Lillestrøm
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Molde had a terrible game against Rosenborg and were put down to earth again. With two scrappy wins against Haugesund and Tromsø in the previous gameweeks as well there are question marks over how good they are. Rotation is likely as well after last gameweeks horror show. Linde should still be a safe pick. Lehne Olsen and Knudtzon have been among the top scorers over the first four gameweeks, and are being overlooked by a lot due to the double gameweeks. This is probably not the best week to bring them in, but long term they are definitely viable options.

Ranheim – FK Haugesund
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Ranheim pulled an impressive comeback late against Sandefjord away and secured their second win in three games. Neither team looked particularly impressive though, and Ranheim were also tore apart by Tromsø in their first game in the previous gameweek. Tønne still looks like a great option, he was just inches away from scoring against Sandefjord after going around the goalkeeper.

Haugesund have enjoyed a surprisingly good start to the season and have given us a few good options. Akintola currently looks like the prime pick, as he’s been involved in most of their goals and has caught our eye with his great dribbling.

Sandefjord – Kristiansund BK
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Sandefjord still looks like prime candidates to go down, despite their 1-4 win away against Start in Gameweek 3. Last time out they were incredibly lucky to get a draw against Stabæk at home, before they gave away a 1-0 lead at home against Ranheim. We can’t see any Sandefjord assets worth keeping.

Kristiansund played a cynical away game against Brann and almost got away with a point. Their defensively minded approach could mean McDermott is the prime pick from the 4.5 bracket. Gjertsen surprisingly missed out with an injury, he’s worth monitoring. Stokke is also back for Kristiansund.

Stabæk – Tromsø
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
This tie includes two of the most interesting Eliteserien teams right now. Stabæk’s Ohi should be a prime option ahead of the double in Gameweek 6, as should Brochmann who scored his first goal of the season against Sandefjord. They also offes a bunch of budget options, like Vetlesen (4.4) who have been given a more advanced role as a wide central midfielder in a 4-3-3 instead of a holding midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 and Granli (4.0) who seems to have nailed down the right back spot and is also on corners from the left hand side.

As last year, Tromsø was the team who delivered most points during the double Gameweek. Playing attractive attacking football, they scored seven goals over the two fixtures. Åsen was the man of the week with a monster 30 point haul, scoring two, assisting three and three bonus in both games. Antonsen, their out of position defender playing in midfield, scored one and assisted one, while wingback Nilsen also got a goal. Berntsen is emerging as the prime budget pick, as the 5.0 midfielder is fielded up front and looks to be in great form. After assisting a goal in his debut against Molde, he scored a goal and picked up a total of five bonus points over the double. A honorable mention to Gamst, who had two great games from his holding midfield role, and picked up three bonus points.

Strømsgodset – Odd
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Strømsgodset are a team we are struggling to place right now. They played a perfect away game against Vålerenga in a 4-1 win, before they were completely outplayed by Tromsø in a 1-3 loss. Pedersen looks like he’s capable of winning the golden boot, while we had two disappointing games from the prime midfielders Jradi and Ulland Andersen.

Odd got their first win of the season against Bodø/Glimt after a brilliant Ruud free kick, but still doesn’t look like a team likely to score a lot of points. Kitolano still a good pick at 4.5, while Risa is worth monitoring as he’s starting up front in the absence of Børven.

Sarpsborg 08 – Brann
(Sunday, 7:00 P.M.)
Two of the top teams meet up in the late game on Sunday. On paper this looks like a tight match with few chances. Sarpsborg were surprisingly outplayed by Haugesund away and should be fairly happy to get away from that clash with a point. Schwartz looks like a good pick if he can nail down that striker spot over Agger.

Brann scored a deserved winner seven minutes into injury time after an Acosta header. They definitely look like a solid team, but they also look more likely to keep clean sheets than score a lot of goals. Despite the tough matchup, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a clean sheet for Brann here. Rolantsson is worth monitoring as he keeps starting out wide. Wormgoor and Teniste the safe picks, who both offers attacking returns and bonus potential.

Bodø/Glimt – Rosenborg
(Monday, 6:00 P.M.)
Rosenborg came back in a big big way last round, while Bodø/Glimt had their big goalscorer come off with injury, a heavy cramp they are now racing to get completely rid of for monday. Given the season injury on their second choice striker as well, this leaves Bodø/Glimt looking somewhat toothless, and a re-invigorated Rosenborg are huge favorites for this Monday night game. We are looking at the right flank to provide points in Helland and Hedenstad, as well as backing a clean sheet in Hansen and Reginiussen.

Rosenborg’s Tactical Shift Worth Monitoring

One of the huge discussion-points from this last gameweek is the resounding win Rosenborg pulled out at home against previously undefeated Molde. Though much can be explained with the players adding that extra few percentages to the effort on the pitch, there was a huge tactical change worth looking into, in Nicklas Bendtner taking up the left flank, allowing them to field both super-strikers Bendtner and Søderlund up top. With the ill effects of Bendtner’s wandering playstyle neutralised in this way, and also setting up both him and Søderlund as big targets for the crosses from Helland and Hedenstad, Rosenborg looked to be back in that unbeatable form they have sported these seasons passed.

The big question now is, will Rosenborg keep playing in this manner, and what does that do for the Fantasy options in the squad?

Bendtner finding his stride is a big one, with a huge ownership already invested he is once again a danger to those who don’t have him. A continued presence on the left side will dull his prospects as the prime goal scorer, so the price tag is somewhat high now, and the weigh-up vs. ownership gets even tougher than before.

The formation opens up Søderlund as an option, and with him taking the main striker position possibly the best option for strikers. Søderlund is no stranger to the Norwegian golden boot, and is more than capable of pulling out brace and hat-trick performances.

Of most interest is perhaps the added value to Helland and Hedenstad as solid fantasy picks. Helland has always been a big goal and assist threat on his own, and with two big strikers to aim for he should find his target more often than before. The same could be said for Hedenstad, who seems to have unlocked his combination play with Helland to become an equally dangerous threat. That they both share set piece duty also helps, with the likes of Reginiussen, Konradsen and new arrival Hovland bolstering the power present in the box at corners and free kicks.

Alas, this all depends on Rosenborg adapting this tactic full time or not, so all eyes are following them in the coming two Gameweeks before we might see another big push for double or triple ownership in the team.

1-0 in the end. Søderlud/Eggen Hedenstad the difference.
Bendtner worrying. Wasn't involved in the game at all, although not only his fault. Still, it's making me look at options.

Big question is; is transfering him out BEFORE Start at home idiotic?

62 points when I'd never heard of half of my team a few days ago, compared to 38 for my meticulously researched Eliteserien lads.

Also great first impressions of the new bonus system.

Rosenborg did, at least, but I only follow Rosenborg closely. That being said, Bendtner did get minutes in some early matches to build match fitness, if I remember correctly.

Søderlund taken off early might be a sign that he may start midweek? Botheim should get minutes as well.

Thanks. Just been having a look - Ohi, Helland, EUA, Reginiussen and others started in round 1 games. But guess could be anything this time, plus most opposition teams don't mean anything to me anyway in terms of relative difficulty.

Rosenborg should win against Trygg/Lade. Expect rotation with defenders, as Rasmussen will probably play (anything else would be surprising) - possibly with Šerbečić.

Only have Helland atm, but Søderlund's the one I want to get for Start. Still a risk but several offputting issues with Bendtner - price, position, world cup, looking even lazier today.

Although I just noticed I can't afford any price rises if I want to do Ruud, Kitolano, Jradi → Wormgoor, Teniste, Koomson.

Any chance Vega or Braaten get a start on the right in the DGW?

Could always go for Barmen or Brochmann instead.

Not sure I'd hurry to buy Koomson (and I have Koomson). Think I'll just wear any changes - too much to lose in a dgw from injury or avoidable rotation - esp as we'll only get one lineup ahead of time.

From a post at vg debatt: "Kåre sier i intervju i dag at mot lag som legger seg bakpå er det naturlig å fortsette med Bendtner på vingen, og de regnet med en slik kampplan i dag, og gjør det helt sikkert mot Start."

Surely all teams will rest their important players in the midweek. Eliteserien teams up against rubbish opposition (all amateurs). All teams are away so they'll be playing on some dodgy surfaces. Not worth risking injuries on main players when you can beat these teams 99/100 times with your fringe squad players.

I don't trust Granli/Moe too much either, so I wouldn't take a hit for either. They could get attacking returns, but Käck is probably even more likely.

Keep in mind that Start got a red card after 5 minutes, I'm not sure if the Vålerenga game is anything to go by. They didn't play that badly against Sandefjord either, but they had a few individual mistakes and Sandefjord were extremely effective. They have had a bad start to the season, especially at the back, but we can't rule out them bouncing back. I wouldn't buy anyone from Start at this point, but I'm sticking with my assets for the DGW and I would advice you to do the same.

Did tune in on radio. Crazy good start frome them.
                        Jiloan Hamad on fire.
The one question mark surrounding him and Hammarby though is, what effect will starting all 3 of Hamad, Kennedy Bakirciouglu and Erkan Zengin have on the team and on Hamad's output...

What do you expect from this week's fixtures?
Djurgården-Malmö and Hammarby-Norrköping looks like interesting matches.

I expect the Spaniard David Batanero to get points tomorrow against Trelleborg. He was excellent against Malmö.

I expect a better Djurgården now they are not plaing a derby.
Malmö of course favorites but would not be surprised to see Djurgården get a result.
I expect both AIK and Östersund to continue doing good but both are away so....
                            Think Häcken will beat Sirius.
Elfsborg has to win, otherwise we might see the first sacking(their coach). There is no question they have the players to do much mych better than so far.
                            Göteborg should win comfortably.

Hammarby - Norrköping will have goals, goals goals. Hopefully us Norrköping will score at least 1 more of course.
The one thing that could be a surprise for many would be if either Moberg Karlsson or Jakobsen gets benched(for Sjölund), I think it will happen. Sjölund is a key player for us, his positioning in front of defence will be much needed as will his passing game.
He is not fast though but his experience makes him more than often find himself in the exact right place at the right time. Sjölund should be great in this bonus system if he is cheap(have not looked yet)

Thanks for the preview! Wish I'd asked you about this before I transferred in Jakobsen. Had to make a decision between him and Hopcutt, and went for Jakobsen. Oh well.

Have to check which matches are streamed here. Looks like the kick-offs are conveniently placed just in time for Brighton-Spurs later in the evening!

My guss would be Moberg will make way , basing it on history. Moberg aint to happy about being sacrificed and has vented his feelings about it before.
Many think it will be Jakobsen though as Moberg was man of tge match last game.
Could also be that Sjölund aint fit for a whole game but they are often pretty open about things and have nit heard anything like that..

Jakobsen should do well over a longer term and I might join you....

Will be interesting to see what happens there. Will probably have to fit Hopcutt into the team somehow, too. Diskerud/Traustason to make way, if so.

Well it's him, Holmberg again, or Mar Omarsson. Holmberg best goalscorer odds of the three but Omarsson's the best fixture. Will see how punty I feel.

                            On another note.
Red carded Djurgården player Yura Movisisomthing got reported to the disciplanry committee today. Suspended on wednesday of course, then a hearing and a decision on, latest, friday to see if he will be available on monday.

Kerim Mrabti looks like out for weeks, will most likely miss Malmö, Elfsborg and Hammarby games. A real kick in the teeth for Djurgården and fantasy teams.

                                            That's quite a bench - difficult to pick the 2 non-dgwers.
Think Lehne Olsen has better fixture on paper than Pedersen, but the latter hard to drop.

I know, That's the price with 'park the bus' 🙁

I'm tempted to play Lehne Olsen and bench Pedersen but that is really riski I guess..
Maybe bench Karlsen as I can see he get limited minutes?

Really don't know. I was planning to sell Pedersen so also feeling a bit stuck with options now.

Just noticed Traustason was red flagged. Took a -4 panicky hit to get in Besara, only to see he plays AIK. Oh well.

I've just wrote a small article about Fantasy Allsvenskan. Maybe it gets published and people who like to play that game can comment there and it is not so confusing here anymore 🙂

I'm sure it will be posted in a day or two! It seems like there's quite a few people here playing Fantasy Allsvenskan. It might be difficult to follow when people talking about two different games/league on the same article, especially for the guys who aren't familiar with all the teams/names yet. A separate article is a very good idea in my opinion!

Some horrible misses from Hallenius, should have scored on several occasions.
Batanero again with a good performance, surely the points must come.
Trelleborg just not good enough, will be relegated if they can’t put on better performances than so far

Possible AIK line up. Here it is expected that Bahoui and Elyounoussi makes way. Change of playing surface and the fact both have had recent injury problems the reason.
My biggest fear though is that Goitom also will be rested, matches so close means few days to rest and he is no spring chicken, what he is though is my Captain as I just can't Captain against my team

Yeah, this playing surface issue is a problem. Many of the older players have problems swapping when just few days between matches and of course players with niggles or coming coming back from bigger injuries.

Someone on vg debatt posted a supposed instagram msg from him.

He says he should be ready for Saturday, got hit my a knee in his hit.

.. but that has been widely reported before and after this dude contacted him on Instagram, so nothing ground braking. It was mentioned on Monday and repeated yesterday that they expect him to be fit for the weekend. He'll get a rest in the cup today.

We'll also get the lineups ahead of deadline, so you can be 100% sure.

Thanks. I am hoping to use my remaining FT to strengthen my attack and not cover injuries.
I will not get to see the lineups before deadline due to time difference ( New Zealand) and work commitments so I will make a guess and hope he plays at least one of the doubles.
I am also unsure of when I will play my first WC. I don't like my team but they turn up so that is a better start than last season. If this was not a good DGW I would have liked to invert in Rosenberg for their game against Start.
Soderlund and Helland will be in my WC squad but for now I will wait.

I've heard Brann will rest at least Wormgoor, Haugen and Kristiansen today. Braaten to get his first start in a competitive game for a long, long while. Vega, Grønner and the other first teamers close to the starting XI should get a run out.

                                                        Start's XI today:

                                                        Benjamin Boujar
                                                        Wichne, Larsen, Hammer Berger, Käck

                                                        Salvesen, Bringaker, Sigurdarson.

Bench: Hornnes Heggland, Ujkani, Christensen, Twum, Hadzic, Skaanes, Floki Finnbogason

                                                        Haugesund's XI today

                                                        Sandvik
                                                        Haraldseid, Knudsen, Skjerve, Stølås

Rosenborg doesn't play until tomorrow, so here's a early guess at a possible starting eleven:

                                                        Østbø
                                                        Reitan - Šerbečić - Rasmussen - Amundsen
                                                        M. Konradsen - Lundemo - Levi
de Lanlay - Botheim - Zekhnini

Østbø in goal is very likely. Very good keeper, and I expect RBK to save Hansen for the league for now. Reitan back from injury, and should get minutes. Šerbečić and Amundsen, who both signed during the transfer window, should get playing time. If not the whole match, at least a decent amount of minutes.

Same with the midfield. M. Konradsen, Lundemo and Levi should get a start. In attack, de Lanlay will likely start, with Botheim and Zekhnini. Botheim is a promising talent, and will be one to watch, I think.

Maybe one or two from the regular starting eleven will start, but this depends on how Rosenborg see Trygg/Lade as an opponent. Trygg/Lade is managed by former Rosenborg/Spurs/Wolves/Palace player Steffen Iversen.

Helmersen just sent Ranheim in lead with a penalty. Considering the number of injuries he's had, it's fantastic he's playing football regularly.

This match is writing history by the way, in that all referees in the match are women. First time that's happened in the cup.

Only Ohi, Boli, Hanche-Olsen and Granli played 120 minutes from the expected starters. He has also played well when he has been subbed on and in a friendly during the first international break. He's really pushing for a start. If I was a Rolantsson owner I would worry.

He came on for a 1-pointer, leaving those 8 points from Danielsson (who I planned to start) on the bench. Lundström delivered, as well as Besara (who I needed to bring in for a -4 because of injuries).

Dahlin got 2 points, while Elyounoussi got 1, so I will need the 6 players left to deliver something. Hamad captain this GW, too.

Eric Larsson was injured, so I got in Augustinsson from the bench with a CS. Lundström and Sema got assists. Olsson got 2 bonus points. Still four players and captain to go.
