The first of six extra fixtures in Double Gameweek 37 gets underway tonight as Swansea and Southampton go head-to-head in a crucial relegation battle at the Liberty Stadium.

From a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) perspective, Jordan Ayew and Dusan Tadic were the main draws ahead of last Friday’s deadline.

Both will be looking to atone for weekend blanks against Bournemouth and Everton respectively.

The fifth most bought player, Ayew earned over 145,000 new owners on the back of five goals in 14 starts under new manager Carlos Carvalhal.

With each of his last three strikes arriving at home, the Swansea striker welcomes a defence that have mustered just two clean sheets in their last 16 road trips.

Ayew was captained by 5,915 FPL managers for Double Gameweek 37, with 126 playing their Triple Captain chip.

Meanwhile, Tadic was eighth for transfers in (107,000+), having supplied three goals and 27 points in three appearances prior to the draw at Goodison.

Just 1,829 have handed the Saints’ playmaker the armband, yet he’s proven more popular than Ayew for the Triple Captain chip, backed by 206 FPL managers.

Mark Hughes’ men have scored in four of their last five – including two goals against both Chelsea and Arsenal – and will face a defence with two shutouts in 12 attempts.

There’s good news for the 19,000+ who drafted in frontman Charlie Austin for Southampton’s pair of fixtures as he’s handed a third successive league start by the new man in charge.

Giroud captain in the final week? They have to win to keep pressure on pool.

Feeling reasonably confident Austin will get something against City, hoping anyway since Barnes is unlikely to start and my transfer will be used to bring Salah back in place of Hazard.

    Cheeky -8

    Kane > Aubamayang
    KDB > Salah
    Willian > Hazard

    Will give me:
    DDG
    Smalling Vertonghen Tarkowski
    Salah Sterling Son Hazard
    Jesus Aubamayang Ayew

Stats show he’s putting in a lot less than he used to making a fraction of the amount of runs. The Roma double took a lot out of him and the other pool players

I care. My ML rival is now 10 points ahead rather than 7 with one round of fixtures left. There's a lot of money riding on it.

That assist could be the difference. Seems terrible for FPL to just allow it because not many people have Austin?

If this was a Harry Kane assist it would be under review and corrected.

Even if that happened still Cedric was the best pick.

I agree but I'm sure you seeing the points difference in hindsight hasn't helped

Did the average go from 34 to just 35?

Do I make an early transfer tonight and do Mahrez > Salah so that I still have enough money to do Willian > Arnautovic if he’s fit?

What does the Swa-Sou result mean for the relegation battle?

That Southampton are probably safe. It’s between swa and huds now

      Southampton pretty much safe.

If Huddersfield get a point vs. Arsenal or Chelsea, they survive and Swansea get relegated.

If Huddersfield lose both games and Swansea beat Stoke, Swansea stay up

Thoughts on Willian's chances of starting Chelsea's final game? ....
I'm thinking he could as he is unlikely to be in the first XI for the cup final

If Chelsea are still in with a shot at making the top 4 you'd think it would be the first choice starting lineup, which doesn't include Willian atm.

No idea, but final's a week later anyway.

They'll still be in for top 4 so they'll play what he considers his strongest XI in my opinion, and that doesn't appear to include Willian now

It's a little unusual seeing the Southampton players tweeting about being safe yet it's still possible they are relegated.

    Southampton 0-5 City

    Swansea 4-0 Stoke

    That's all it takes 😉

They have very little to be proud off. Celebrating mediocrity.

They probably noticed 2 swansea goals in last 8 games.

    Better move for GW 38?

    A) Willian -> Zaha, start Vardy vs tot
    B) Willian -> Cheap Palace mid (RLC/Mili/McArthur), Vardy -> Auba for a -4

A is probably the sensible play but I quite like B if you're chasing.

        If I do A I'll captain Zaha, if I do B I'll captain Auba.
My goal was to reach the Top 10K for the 3rd season running but it looks out of reach unless Sterling goes crazy tomorrow.

Tough one tbh, I don't expect Auba to go nuts against Huddersfield since they'll be absolutely fighting for their lives and Arsenal playing for nothing and also playing away from home (that record)

The record is really horrendous but it's also Wenger's last game

Yeah I was gonna add that too, could certainly work in their favour in that respect. I think I'd just do A tbh

Taking a hit for a single GW is madness in my opinion, unless you can't get 11 out.

It depends on the circumstances really

          Of course.

Just think that if you're gambling on a player scoring 4+ more than their replacement, then playing against the odds.

      C) Get Zaha and Giroud if he looks good

Giroud is a risk but Vardy likely 2 pts, Giroud goal may mean also 3 baps. So this move only if chasing. For free I will do it myself.

Will see how Giroud does tonight

Would like to see something like this:

      Ederson
      Walker Kompany Otamendi Mendy
      Foden Yaya KDB
      Bernardo Sterling Sane

I reckon he will. Not had too much of a chance this year with the injury and Aguero keeping him out.

He needs some form and sharpness to give him confidence for the world cup, so I think Pep will wanna give him that chance.

i fecking hope so , i triple captained him , i'd be sitting on 89 points with 11 to play if i stuck the armband on Auba instead of him , so he owes me a haul lol
